Hm, something interesting I found. Inthe group Matt started, he had this to say, in response to this message:

"To Matt, Robb, Darren, and any other mates...

Would you have wanted to do the show if you had been selected as the leading man? ie, being the chooser instead of the chosen?

Matt's reply:

"Cory,

This question hits home and I have thought about this a lot. (I
know some of you will not believe this, and that is fine if you
don't.) I was originally interviewed to be the leading man. Some
of the production crew flew up here and meet my best friend Kim and
I and we had a hour long, on tape interview. I have debated telling
people about this (only my friends and family know), in fact I don't
think anyone else on the cast even knows (maybe they interviewed
some other mates to be the lead as well, I don't really know.) I
never wanted to bring it up as it was not that important and I
didn't want them to think I was making it up to take the shoplight
away from other people.

The producer's picked James in the end (maybe due to my father
passing a few weeks befor filming, or maybe they just thought James
and Andra were more what they were looking for.) So as far as your
question: I am very glad I was not picked as the lead. It would
have turned my world upside down and in the figile emotional state I
was in at the time, I don't know if I would have been able to handle
it. (Not to mention my friend Kim would have kicked some ass when
she found out the twist, seriously!)

I think James did the best he could with the twist and still managed
to keep his dignity. Like he said in episode five, it is all worth
it if he managed to make a difference for just one person out there
in America who is having problems dealing with their sexuality and I
comend him on that!

I think most people have been visiting that group already. It's great that Matt's there.

He said his father passed away, and that he talked about it on the show, but the editors edited it out. He appeared to be the most reserved, but he's not like that at all.

Oh, and Matt, like Brian, also had a crush on Dan. Matt admitted it himself, LOL.

How sad...apparently, Matt got an email from the producers reminding him of his contract, so he won't be able to post on the Yahoo BMB board anymore...

It is sad. It was a great group.

It doesn't mean he can't stop posting *completely*, right? As long as what he says isn't completely violating the contract.

What are the specifics of the contract? Or is that a secret too?

And I'm assuming this applies to all the cast members... ah well.

Maybe in a year or so, we'll see Matt model for an abercrombie ad. Didn't he say that he'd considered modeling? I support him all the way!

There's no doubt in my mind that the terms of the contract are likely confidential. The silly thing, it seems to me, is that cast members posing on the message boards keeps the show alive and keeps everyone primed for the next go-round. Brings more "reality" to "reality TV" so to speak. Wouldn't be the first time us lawyers got in the way.

Robb still posts in Matt's group. He says he's not really saying anything that is a breach of contract (Not really an exact quote, but it's something along the lines of that). I hope Matt will read his contract much more closely and hopefully see Robb's point, and keep posting! *crosses fingers*
