I love this book. When I read it I imagined every scene like a movie playing in my mind. Sarah is a wonderful writer. I can't wait for the movie! to bad Heath Ledger left us so soon. I can see him playing young Jacob Jankowski.

I read Water for Elephants this past summer and loved it too.
I just read this book and loved every word. The imagery of a 1930's traveling circus was stunning.Originally Posted by inthegarden;3384655;
Rob Pattinson has been cast as Jacob, Reese Witherspoon as Marlena and Christoph Waltz as August. Filming begins May 22 in Filmore and Santa Paula California.
That's some great casting with Oscar winners, looking forward to the movie!
I'm not exactly sure how I feel about Rob Pattinson in this film. I do love Reese Witherspoon, so I'll be curious to see her in this role. Although I was not a big fan of the movie Inglourious Basterds, Christoph Waltz was genius in it so I'm also looking forward to seeing more of him!Originally Posted by talldede;3877707;
I'm already looking forward to re-reading the book before the film comes out!

Interesting interview with Gruen.
Thank you jlccaz, that was interesting. I love what Sara says here.
Were you poking yourself when “Water for Elephants” was contracted to become a movie, and when some little actors by the names of Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon agreed to be in it?
I have to stop and pause and knock on wood right now. The closer it comes to being real, the more superstitious I get. It’s Hollywood. It can all go poof, still. Things are looking as good as they can.
