    the sequel that came out is "the second summer of the sisterhood". you guys should really check out the first book, then the sequel.

    Last really good book that I read was "The Impressionist" by Hari Kunzru.

    I also recommend "All Is Vanity" by Christina Schwartz.

    I have read "We Were The Mulvaneys" and thought it was well written but very melodramatic. I disliked "The Corrections" and thought it was way overhyped.

    The Lovely Bones was one I loved as well!

    A Midnight Clear by William Wharton was a terrific read. It's about a WWII rifle squadron that has an unusual and gut-wrenching encounter with a German squadron in the days before the Battle of the Bulge.

    firegirl, I liked The Lovely Bones as well. Alice Sebold also wrote a book called "Lucky" which is totally different, but very good.

    I read "Lucky". It was really hard to read the first few pages; it was very graphic & disturbing. But I figured if she could live through it & write about it, then I can read it! I still haven't read "The Lovely Bones" though.

    Holly, I'm about halfway. I just keep waiting for it to pick up! I have a feeling it's not going to. I picked it up because it was an Oprah's book club selection, and I've liked several of the others.

    I don't know if I'll make it through or not. I don't give up easily, but if it takes me more than a week or two, I'm done.

    Firegirl, I loved The Jester. I love all of his books that I've read, but I haven't read that many. Just four or five. What is The Lovely Bones, and who is it written by?

    I usually wait for someone to comment on an author before I try someone new. If anyone has a suggestion, post it! I'm always up for a good read.
