i cant compare to all these highly literate, smarty-pants books.. so, ill settle with these:

1)InkHeart Trilogy(lets call them all one book)
2)His Dark Materials Trilogy(again, all one book)
3)The Complete Collection of Sarah Dessen's books, including her newest(locks and keys-due out in april '08)

only three books just would not do.. id need the largest library in the world.. im a book worm that cannot survive without books

Argh, too hard. I'd probably go with:

    1. Paradise Lost
    2. The complete works of H.P. Lovecraft (though I don't think such an anthology exists)
    3. Crime and Punishment

Of course, with the whole deserted island thing, Henry Darger's infamous Vivian Girls story might also be a good option. The manuscript they found was 15,145 pages long.

I don't know I have so many books that I can't decide and most of them are in a series.

While part of me would want to bring my favourites (some combination of Dodsworth, Main Street, Kingsblood Royal, Babbitt, Cass Timberlane - yes, I'm very fond of Sinclair Lewis), the practical side of me would want to bring books that there is some hope of my getting through, but not without a bit of time and effort, so:

    1. War & Peace (read to within 50 pages of the end thirty years ago - just couldn't get that last bit down).
    2. A History of Britain by Keith Felling. So, so dull. I had to give it to a crazy anglophile friend, who finally conceded that it was so, so dull. But it would keep me occupied for a long, long time. And if I recall correctly, its pages were quite thin. Tissue paper thin.
    3. Asimov's Guide to the Bible.
All I wanted was a 45, a stinking 45 - the record or the gun. I'd even settle for the damn malt liquor. - Al Bundy.

Yikes, tough question. Hmm, well if I was pressed:

Moab Is My Washpot - Stephen Fry
    Middlesex - Jeffrey Eugenides
The Princess Bride - William Goldman

I have to jump on the "entire series in a book" bandwagon and here are mine

    1) Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind
    2) Harry Potter series
    3) Lord of the Rings series

Might as well live in "fantasy" land if there's no way I'm getting off. And I'm hoping they'd keep me from dressing up a volleyball/pineapple and naming him Wilson.

Hope I never have to make this decision. It would be like picking one of my kids over another.

    But here goes:

A Prayer for Owen Meany - John Irving [very popular here, I see]
Searching for Caleb - Anne Tyler
The Mill on the Floss - George Eliot
