Re: Questionnaire about reading habits
Oh! I wanted to add one more great reading memory. When I was young and we were so very poor, we had few books in our home but one we did have was by a James Thurber. I was read to often from that book and later read it myself. Thurber certainly wasn't known as a children's author, but I enjoyed his humor, nevertheless. When I was in second grade I went to school and sadly informed my teacher, "Miss Seaborne, did you know that Thurber died yesterday?" She was taken aback because we were still reading "Dick and Jane" in class. "Ummm...yes," she replied. "I knew he died, but I had no idea YOU would know it."
I wasn't all that bright, but it is a testimont of a lover of books reading (and enjoying) what is available.
