Ooh, I love Louise Erdrich, cricketeen. I read Tracks for a course on Magical Realism in college and was enthralled with it. SUCH a good book. I've been meaning to read more by her ever since. Which books do you like best?Originally Posted by cricketeen;2174934;

I have to admit that I have just recently discovered her. I adored the Master Butcher's Singing Club.

After much thought (but not really), I am sure that Brian Jacques is my favorite author. I just love his Redwall series. I also can't help but like his books about The Flying Dutchman. It's incredible.
Apart from him, I love reading Amy Tan, Thomas Hardy, and Maxine Hong Kingston. I'm also growing quite accustomed to the style of Elizabeth Kostova, even though I've only read The Historian.

Being a total fantasy nut, my favorite authors are Anne McCaffery (i've read, and OWN every single one of her Dragon Riders of Pern books), Piers Anthony and Robert Asprin. I also adore Esther M. Friesner simply for the Chicks in Chainmail anthologies she does.

Elizabeth McCracken, John Irving, D.H. Lawrence, Barbara Kingsolver, Edgar Allan Poe, Sylvia Plath, Walt Whitman, Truman Capote, John Steinbeck, J.D. Salinger. I love authors who push the envelope.

My nose is generally found in non-fiction books but these authors I religiously reserve their newest book at the library:
Minette Walters (Arguably the best mystery writer on the planet!)
Gabriel Garcia Marquez (latin mysticism) (Not meant for the big screen!)
Christopher Buckley (humour) (Yes, that Buckley!)
