Clive Cussler?

Hi all!

My brother has decided that he wants to try reading Clive Cussler, as he had come recommended to him, but he's unsure where to start. I see CC has an ongoing character named Dirk Pitt.

Are these Dirk Pitt novels meant to be read chronologically, or do they stand on their own quite well?

Are there any CC books that anyone would highly recommend?

Oh, yes. One of my old girlfriends got me hooked on Clive Cussler a couple years ago. They're quite good and entertaining, though certainly not the most believable adventures in literature. :lol

The best one, far and away, is Sahara. And they don't necessarily need to be read chronologically.

Hi Broadway. I really enjoy reading Clive Cussler. I have never read them in order and I havent even read some of the earlier ones but I know I will. I love the way Clive has a "historical" chapter in the beginning of his books that always tie in with modern life. I just got done reading one of his books last night!

I read "Trojan Odyssey", Broadway! It got mixed reviews but I really liked it! Clive, to me, is a fast read and like I wrote before, I really like the historical tie ins all throughout the novel. I would recomment Sahara too! Although, so many are good!

Broadway, my sister got me hooked on Clive Cussler about five years ago. However, I prefer the Kurt Austin books over the Dirk Pitt ones. Dirk occasionally makes an appearance. It is a newer series and there are only five books so far. I've read and enjoyed them all.

Serpent, Blue Gold, Fire Ice, White Death, and Lost City.

I like Dirk better. I've read many of the Dirk Pitt and only one of the Kurt Austin. I like Dirk's sidekick Al. Didn't this tsunami remind you of one of his books?
