Why can't my life be this interesting?
Yes, you'd have to have a complete heart of stone to not tear up when reading that book...Originally Posted by EmmasMama;3624985;
The first time I read that was as a substitute teacher and the sub plans included reading that to the class! Utter cruelty on the teacher's part, I feel.I'll always wonder if she did that knowing I'd break up while reading it, or if she knew she would, so passed it off to a sub.

Lots of good books listed here. Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach is one of the books I loved as a kid. I hadn't seen it listed in earlier posts, and thought I'd mention it.

As a preschool teacher, I have a billion favorite children's books! Some favorites are any of the Eric Carle books (Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See, etc.,) A favorite around Christmas is Santa Mouse. My kids have heard Santa Mouse enough that now along with cookies and milk for Santa, carrots for the reindeer, we now leave cheese out for Santa Mouse too!
My favorites were always A Chair for My Mother and Music Music For Everyone by Vera B. Williams.
I still have and still reread from time to time the Trixie Belden mystery series. I used to love these books when I was a Preteen.

Is that the series with a character named "Honey" because that was the color of her hair? That always intrigued me. Or maybe it was the color of her eyes.

Yes that is the one. I had every single book. Those books started my love of mysteries.Originally Posted by Gutmutter;4171842;

Oh, I loved those books. My sister had a couple of them. I found a few for my daughter, but I'm not sure she liked them as well as I. I have even recommended them a time or two.
