Your favorite Stephen King book?

I am a big fan and have all his books. My favorites from best to least are:

1) IT
2) The Stand
3) The Shining
4) The Dark Tower series
5) Nightmares and Dreamscapes
6) Hearts in Atlantis
7) Cujo

thats enough for now. I highly recommend renting RoseRed. A 5hour movie available on VHS> A good way to spend a rainy weekend. Scared the **** out of me.

I turned my head and typed these titles from where they are sitting on my bookshelf. :)

The Stand is my #1 Stephen King book. Misery is my #2 SK favorite.

I like several of his classic novels. As for his newer stuff, I loved his book, Bag of Bones. It was touching and brilliant at times. I didn't care for Dreamcatcher. I thought it became a boring rambling mess about halfway through.

I read Salem's Lot in high school and it scared the life out of me! Loved it!

I also liked Needful Things.

I love many that have been listed here, but wanted to add two that have not been mentioned -Rose Madder and Insomnia.

I used to commute 120 miles by car everyday and I listened to books on tape. That's how I "read" Rose Madder - it was unabridged and SK read part of the book. (He has some weird dialect thing going on by the way.) Also "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon." That one I would sneak out on my break to listen for 15 more minutes.

hepcat, I love to listen to books on tape! I also heard "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" that way. I believe it was read by Anne Heche, and she did a great job. There is a great store here called "Bookears" and I drop in and rent a book on tape every time I go on a road trip. It is a great way to pass the time in the car.

"The Stand" -- absolutely! And most recently I read "Four Past Midnight" which includes "The Langoliers", "Secret Window, Secret Garden", "The Library Policeman", and "The Sun Dog" I don't think I ever read "The Dead Zone" but I loved the movie -- oooh, Christopher Walken :winkgrin
