Thanks for bumping this thread! Will have to see what I can read without being spoiled.
After a quick read of this thread, I didn't see any references to Duma Key or Lisey's Story, which are the two I have available from the library on audio. Anyone want to weigh in on how these compare to the favorites here (The Stand, It, Bag of Bones)?

I agree. If I had to pick just one it would have to be The Stand. A close second would be The Dead Zone. Salem's Lot 3rd.

Of his newer books, I really loved 11/22/63.

Most memorable after all these years are:

    The Shining
    Carrie
    Thinner
    The Stand

I haven't read anything by King in the last 8 years? But I love the idea of reading his works, so maybe I will take a break from the kid books I read for my life's work and try him out again!

Remember that scene in The Shining where the dried out old hornets' nest in the boy's room suddenly came alive with hornets? King wrote that so well that I get creeped out to the day when I see a hornet.

I hadn't read any Stephen King in perhaps 20 years until I read (and loved) 11/22/63 last fall. I'm also told his fairly recent book Under the Dome is good, so I might try that one.

I read Under the Dome and it was good. It definitely has some Stand-ish tendencies, which helped. It definitely wasn't 11/22/63 or The Stand, but it was pretty dang good.

    It.

    Liked the book.
Luv'd the miniseries. Although the minisiries did not exactly follow the book the writers adapted it wonderfully and while I am not a horror fan this movie has great legs and stands the test of time.
