Thanks everyone for the Kristen Hannah suggestions. True Colors, her newest, looks good, too. I hadn't heard of this author until Firefly Lane. | |

| Re: What are you reading? Losing Mum and Pup: A Memoir, by Christopher Buckley. It's as funny as any of his fiction, although it's mostly about the death of his parents who passed less than a year apart. |

| Re: What are you reading? I'm about 50 pages into The Little Giant of Aberdeen County. It's slow going. I think the first-person omniscient narrator is hanging me up; it gives everything a sense of self-importance that's a turn-off for me. I'm going to stick with it and hope the plot kicks in soon, because the jacket description is really compelling, and it's got Crit's strong recommendation. Meanwhile, I'm flying through Joe College. I am really impressed by Tom Perrotta's ability to draw vulnerable characters without running the sentiment into the ground. And I agree with AJane too; he's extremely good at presenting flaws in a very stark but generous way.

| Re: What are you reading? Went to the library this a.m. and checked out Joe College and another book called 19th Wife, about a Mormon woman. Saw it at a bookstore yesterday and it looked intriguing. |

| Re: What are you reading? I just made a trip to the book store and bought Stephanie Meyer's The Host. It sounds interesting, has anyone read it? I also got the next Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) Finally! Cannot wait to start. |

| Re: What are you reading? I've started Lost and Found by Carolyn Parkhurst. It's a novel that follows the contestants on show very much like "The Amazing Race". I'm enjoying it very much so far. A book I didn't enjoy at all was Your Heart Belongs to Me by Dean Koontz. It was almost as cheesy as its title. Yeck. |

| Re: What are you reading? I thought the new Plum novel was coming out on the 23rd. You've got a copy already? I'm reading The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley.
