I'm re-reading "...And Ladies of the Club" by Helen Hooven Santmyer

The book is the story of a fictional medium-sized town in southern Ohio, from just after the Civil War to the beginning of the Depression. The story is told primarily through the eyes of a women's book club, and focuses particularly on two of the club's members and their families. All the important themes of life are explored: love, race, jealousy, religion, war, politics, business, literature, education, family relationships, and death. If you read this book, you will be both moved to tears and richly educated in American history.

I'm reading Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Maguire (can't remember first name). I'm having a hard time getting into it though. It's for my "real life" book club.
Gregory Maquire, I loved this book!

The Probable Future by Alice Hoffman. I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about regarding this author. I'm just a few chapters into it and I'm in awe. What absolutely beautiful writing...I'm going to yank all her books off the library shelf.

"The Love of A Good Woman" Alice Munroe. She writes short stories, and everything I've read of hers has been fantastic. She navigates that twilight zone of human feeling, like no other writer I know. The titles of her books are always awful though.

I liked the first half, but not the 2nd.

Have you read any of the other ones in this series? I picked one up and got hooked on the whole series.
