I need some help on this. My boyfriend and I have a friendly banter on this. Is my uncle married to my "aunt" or "ant" (spelled aunt)? He says aunt and I say ant. Potatoe, potato........

Depends on where you are, I guess. I grew up saying "ant". When I got out in the wide world and realized most people say "aunt" I became bilingual.Originally Posted by SCRUMPOT

I have 3 aunts, and one of them I've called "Auntie" for as long as I can remember. The other two are just the first names, with no "aunt" prefix, but Carolyn is not "Aunt Carolyn", she's just "Auntie". She says if I ever call her Carolyn, she'll call me a nickname I hate for the rest of my life. It's a threat I've taken seriously
People kind of look at me funny, a 33-year-old guy calling someone "Auntie"...But hey.
I have real trouble getting past irregardless and dethaw
I guess they are more malapropisms than grammatical errors
