    Biggest Loser Open Chat

This show sucks us in even though we know that this is not the healthy way to lose weight. Not even bad but really bad. No matter it is a fascinating show. Jillian and Bob have made lame attempts to make money on exercise videos when we all know that diet is 80% of the journey. Subway is not the road to follow. Low carb is the only proven diet that makes sense. The big, fleshy, puffy rolls that is Subway are the counter point to what both Bob and Jillian advocate.

We watch anyway. I have 30 pounds to lose and can relate. Small amount you say, sure, it is. To me it is insurmountable.

I saw one of the former contestants on an informercial on Sunday, hocking some diet aid. Some powder you sprinkle on your food that makes you lose weight. I can't remember his name, but recognized him instantly. He was one of the guys that lost loads of weight & looked way different. Not the one that won & has gotten all the press, but darned near as much transformation.

Anyhow, on the informercial he said that when he come back to real life the pounds started coming back right away. That the high intensity constant workouts & monitored food just weren't realistic in real life. So he tried this powder & voila! He doesn't look like he did at the end of Biggest Loser, but he looks good & healthy.

I believe that powder as much as I believe all the other No Exercise, No Diet weight loss gimmicks.

Biggest Loser has the right idea. Diet & exercise. Change your way of life.
The problem is the extremeness of it all just isn't realistic in the long haul.

Shoepie, no offense, but the only way to lose weight is calories in, calories out. Exercise helps maintain weight loss and is essential for heart health and muscle development. Low carb diets work but aren't sustainable. TBL plan isn't sustainable either, because no one has 4-6 hours a day to work out, but the ideology is correct - proper eating habits and regular physical activity. Subway is just a sponsor and you can be sure that Bob, Jillian and Dolvett don't ever darken the doors of a Subway outlet IRL. Don't discount the exercise videos, they really do help increase fitness level if done regularly and are part of an overall health and wellness plan. They are definitely not lame, they are very challenging and provide a sense of accomplishment. No physical activity is lame. No matter how slow you go, you're still lapping the person sitting on his/her couch.

A lot of stress and a lot of pounds. I hope this works for him.

I kinda feel it is a publicity stunt to push his album sales, get his name out there again and earn money to pay his back taxes and divorce. I am not saying it would not be good ratings but why not give a chance to someone who is not famous who has not had their shot at winning a reality show.
