    The Biggest Loser

Is anyone actually gonna watch this show on nbc? Its on tuesday nights at 8 starting oct 19. Its about people who are overweight in a competition to see who can lose the most weight, and the winner gets $250,000. Sounds pretty cool, I know I'm gonna be watching.

I can't watch morbidly obese people on television. It is too depressing. Alot of times, people that are this obese suffer from other ailments that exercise and a few granola bars cannot fix.

I would rather they did something like this for women that gained weight during pregnancy, and are struggling to take it off ... that is something I could watch.

I might watch it, cause I always liked watching Body Challenge on Discovery Health, but since my cable company dicided to put it on digital and charge more bucks i might have to settle for this. The only trouble with shows like this it can be highly motivating for people to lose weight and a lot of people are highly succesful at loosing it. Maintenance is another issue and yeah I bet afterward 90% of these folks will have gained it all back plus extra.

The mean thing is while they are trying to lose the weight, the network is taunting them with food. Like when they wake up in the morning they come down the steps to find a mountain of cupcakes and candy. That kinda stuff I don't like, but I do like weight loss shows, so I will definitely watch this!! Heck I would love to moderate a forum on here for the show...

True, and that's exactly the reason I won't be watching this show. There's a line of decency and humanity that even reality TV shouldn't cross to humiliate and exploit people, and this is one of those lines. This is a new low in reality TV.
I live in my own world. But it's ok, they know me there.
Kid Nation... a sad day for society when the exploitation of children becomes acceptable entertainment for television viewers.

That's the reason why I'm still debating about continuing to watch Cold Turkey - all those people trying to quit smoking and they're gonna bring a smoker into the house - AND - send them to a smoky casino!!!!! I know that in real life these are issues that these people will have to contend with but at least at the beginning of their attempt to quit smoking it would behoove them all to just stick together and keep away from outside influences - it seems very unfair to introduce these temptations at such an early stage of the process (hesitate to call it a 'game'). Maybe toward the end it would be ok to bring the smoker in - that would kinda get them ready to go out into 'real life' and see then if any succumb back to the bad habit......I don't like when reality shows tackle a serious issue and then try to sabotage the succcess right from the git-go
