| Our Interview with April, 9/16/05 In a special Tuesday eviction episode, 31-year-old April, a pharmaceutical representative from Dallas, TX, was given her walking papers by her sometime-friend and always-ally Ivette. April’s fate was sealed when Ivette won the week’s Power of Veto competition. Knowing her days were numbered, April she spent her last week in the House revisiting her actions in the House and expressing doubt about her choices. Did her self-reflective mood last once she hit the freedom of the sequester house? Read on and decide for yourself - after all, I wouldn’t want to unduly influence anyone like April says Ivette did. Congratulations for making it to the final four, April! That’s quite an achievement to get so far in the game! What was your strategy when you came into the house? To make it as far as I could. When did you first have an inkling that you weren’t the only pair? When I heard Ashlea and Janelle talking about a bathing suit that Janelle had gotten online. The only pair to hold on to the fiction that they didn’t know each other longer than you and Jennifer was Ivette and Beau. Do you think they were strangers who were matched up by Big Brother, as they claimed? Who knows? It will be interesting to find out the whole story. Your team members said often that Janelle spoke nothing but lies. Can you be more specific - what lies did you catch Janelle saying? Janelle lied about her and Michael. She also said that she didn’t approach Sarah telling her that Jen and I were going to evict Ivette over Sarah, etc. ![]() What was your favorite moment in the house? Winning HOH! What was your least favorite moment in the house? When Howie mania came out. Was this final week the hardest week for you? No, once I knew I was going and the game was over I was so happy to get out. Besides Jennifer, who did you feel close to in the house? Maggie and Beau. You let go of the button in the Pressure Cooker in order to get a prize, and it paid off. Did you throw any other competition? I didn’t necessarily throw any, but I can definitely say in the beginning I didn’t try 100% to win because I knew I was safe. You said many disparaging things about Janelle over the course of the game, but you seemed to make friends with her after Howie left. What is your opinion of Janelle at this point? Janelle is Janelle. She is funny and is always in Janelle land. You called Michael “dangerous” and “a walking weapon.” Did you really think he posed a threat to anyone in the house? I didn’t know at the time because I barely knew him, but he did act weird quite often, which made me think. Jennifer later admitted that Michael hadn’t struck the bathroom wall in rage. Did you and she spread that story as a strategic move to convince the house to target Michael? Ivette told me Jen said that about Michael. It was not a strategy. Again, secondhand info is not always accurate. Howie blasted you when Kaysar was nominated, and the verbal haranguing went on for hours. Did Howie ever apologize to you for insulting your husband and dog? Yes, he did. Before Howie went on his rampage, you were telling Kaysar that you “loved” him and that it was not your idea to put him on the block. But didn’t you tell Jennifer you wanted Kaysar out when she asked everyone individually on your team? Beau and Ivette brought up the idea of Kaysar. After hearing their reasons over and over it started to make sense. It was a group decision and I do take part of the blame. You called yourself the “friendship”, but there was obvious animosity between you and some of your team members. Did you consider anyone on the “friendship” to be more of an enemy than a friend? No, all friends, just with different strategies. Do you think Ivette was justified in celebrating her POV win by jumping around the yard and screaming? She deserves to be happy. I just thought she could have been a little more reserved since she knew that she would be evicting Maggie or I, and one of us would be leaving. Can you explain further how Ivette influenced your decisions in the House? Ivette is very vocal about her feelings and is never wrong. So I feel like sometimes decisions were made because Ivette wanted them, not the friendship. Do you think you and Ivette will have any sort of relationship outside of the House? Absolutely. When Ivette revealed that she knew you had asked Maggie not to play for the veto, were you surprised that Maggie broke a confidence? No, I knew Maggie was going to ask Ivette her thoughts. I just wished Maggie would have posed the question a little better and not made it look like it was all my doing. Why did you call America “pieces of [bleep]” for giving the America’s Choice phone call to Janelle? Sorry America, but why Michael? We wished it would have least been her mom. Why did you and your team members make a shrine to “Cappy” whenever one of you won HOH? Wasn’t my doing. Did you ever come clean with Ivette about your role in the plan to evict her the week Howie was HOH? Did you ever admit you and Jennifer initiated the plan, not Janelle and Howie? It was not brought up initially by Jen and I. Howie initiated it first. We have heard a lot this season about playing the game with honesty and integrity - many times from players who have gone back on their promises and have racked up several lies. What is your philosophy on how to play the game? Who knows anymore, just play. Is it true (as you said) you didn’t care about winning the money? Yes, I went in for the experience and to prove to myself I could do it. Will you miss cuddling with Maggie? Absolutely. Do you think you’ve given up smoking for good? Hopefully. You chose to target James over Janelle when you were HOH. Did you have any kind of agreement with Janelle? No. She did say because I didn’t evict her she would keep me safe for a week. Who were you most glad to see leave the house before you? James. Early on, you told Ivette and others in the House that you were convinced Kaysar was only pretending to pray as a bid for attention. What led you to think he was “faking”? I do not recall saying that. You are a very verbal person. Did your mouth ever get you in trouble during the game? Absolutely. Do you regret anything you said or did in the House? Yes, saying what I said about America’s Choice. Sorry. Can you tell us briefly what you think of your fellow houseguests? Ashlea - loved to talk about herself. Beau - fabulous and diva. Eric - motivator and vocal. Howie - funny. Ivette - spicy and vocal. James - interesting and liked telling others how to do things. Janelle - she found the oddest things funny. Jennifer - discreet. Kaysar - nice. Maggie - loveable and hilarious. Michael - different. Rachel - Betty Crocker. Sarah - sweet. Is there anything else you would like the viewers to know? I love them all! Thank you again for answering my questions, April. Enjoy your (very short) sequester! Please stop by and visit us when you’re out of Sequesterville. Many thanks to CBS for granting us the interview.

![]() You're right, hep, they did allow some hardball questions in. Too bad April wasn't nearly as vocal with her answers here as she was in the house. You did a great job! Great questions.

| Thanks Hepcat. I've been waiting for this and you asked some very good questions. It comes across to me that it's still DENY, DENY, DENY. April reminds me of some girls I went to High School with and thats not a good memory....... |

| Great questions, hepcat! I'm surprised they allowed some of them. Not surprised that April managed to weasel around and give noncommital answers to the tough ones. Typical April-speak... ![]()

| Excellent questions, I can't believe "they" let you ask some of them? I had started to like (a very small amount) prior to reading her answers, now I'm back to remembering how she really acts |
