He seems like a decent guy who truly went through a lot of pain as a kid having been abandoned by his biological dad.

Instead of turning bitter or allowing it as an excuse to turn into a slime, he works a job, cares about wanting to be a good dad himself, and seems to have a big heart.

It seems that the show often does a good job of reminding us that first impressions often don't mean anything.

I think he has a chance to be a "Rubert" here, if people give him a chance.

Yes, he could definitely become the fan favorite here... I hope he does well, and I am very glad that he channeled all his feeling of abandonment into an effort to become a much better father.

He said last night that the little boy is his stepson. Or will be.
Yeah. I thought that was a sick and cruel twist by the producers. And all-time low in not caring about a contestant's feelings/wellbeing. Not impressed here.

Well, it also seems like a move destined to make him lose the game. He now has either an automatic ally or enemy depending on how she reacts, and both paths put him at a disadvantage. He's either a target for everyone else for having an automatic vote in pocket, or an angry purple haired woman out to get him.

It's funny, for some reason I've been assuming HE'S the one who applied for BB and she was the draftee... but I wonder now if it could be the reverse.

What I didn't understand was why did they decide to huddle in a bunch and ask what each other's last name is? Did they do that in the past BBs?

And since Mike was asking all those questions, especially his last name, why didn't N do the same? Why didn't she throw similar questions about his parents and family? I could only assume that if she did, something would strike her as odd. If I were N I'd have to wonder "Why is this man all up in my personal life like this???"

Speaking as someone who is very shy, I would be terrified in a house full of total strangers. I'd be grateful if someone pelted me with questions, so I wouldn't have to come up with things to say. I don't know if this explains Jenn, but it might.

I thought that was very strange. It made me think that she is either in on this with CBS or is very dense.

As for the last names, maybe it truly was a coincidence that someone asked what everyone's last name was...or perhaps the Producers prompted them to do that. From what I've heard in the past, the House Guests are coached.

I was thinking that maybe out of the zillions of applications that were received for the show, they noticed that two people living in two different places named the same person as father. Maybe they researched it, found out the truth, then selected both of them for the show. Or, as you suggested, maybe one of them was simply called on to be on the show.

The whole thing is a little too over the top for me. Messing with someone's personal life just for ratings isn't good.
