    Acronyms/abbreviations

The live feed reporters generally use standard acronyms and abbreviations to denote people, rooms, objects etc. within the Big Brother house.

Lets get the ball rolling by coming up with some standard abbreviations for the main players and rooms, it makes feed reporting so much easier when you don't have to type full names.

I came up with a tentative list of players names....Let me know what you think, Fluff. (and others.)

    JA (Janelle)
    JM (James)
    JE (Jennifer
    MG (Maggie)
    HW (Howie)
KA (Kaysar) *I started to use "KY" for him, but then I think "kentucky"
    BE (Beau)
    MC (Michael)
    IV (Ivette)
    AS (Ashlea)
    AP (April)
    ER (Eric)
    SA (Sarah)
    RA (Rachel)

Also, I thought we'd still go with FISH (for when the feeds cut to the fishtanks) unless, this year, they return to FOTH (front of the house) of years prior.

F1, F2, etc (indicating what feed we're transcribing)

    BY (Backyard)
    LV (living room)
    KT (Kitchen)
    SWB (subway bedroom, maybe?)
*more on the bedrooms once I get a good look at them*

OH and don't let me leave THIS one out
    HOH (head of house)

These are just a few off the top of my head, obviously I've been thinking about Big Brother waaaaayyyy too much!

    Perfect, thanks suncat

Of course these often change as the show goes on.
I think we started out using M for Michael last year but it soon changed to CB for cowboy
Good to have a set list as a starting point

After seeing the house tour video clip on another site, we need abbreviations for:
-HOH Bathroom (it's big enough & with a tub, that there could be a lot of action there)
    -Weight room
-As far as I could tell, there is just one big bedroom with all the beds in it - some cots, some regular beds - all single, so we may just need one bedroom abbr.
-Upstairs balcony inside (will there be one outside??)

Just a suggestion from a reader...how about BO for Beau, since that's how it's pronounced, I assume.

I know personally I'm going to have trouble with JA. In my mind I'll be getting confused as to whether it's JAmes or JAnelle. I would suggest changing Janelle to JN or JL. But I shouldn't even be complaining, since I won't be writing recaps, only reading them. I'll certainly live with whatever you wonderful transcribers decide.

Actually, Qboots has a good point. I'd probably make the same mistake with the JA abbreviation. Maybe JN for Janelle (since you're using JM for James), like Qboots suggests?

That's a good idea - but what if JN for Janelle gets confused with Jennifer (especially since Jennifers are sometimes called Jen, which sounds like JN.
I think I like JN for Jennifer and JL for Janelle.

Apparently there is also a secret bedroom? In addition to the HOH BR and the RR. Is that what was meant by subway bedroom?
