"He is within his rights to have his own opinion about certain things."
Of course he is...but just because you have a right to have an opinion and voice that opinion does NOT mean there aren't consequences. And the consequences of his opinion are that many people (including myself) now consider him a misinformed bigot. Yes he's entitled to his opinion...but so am I. And my opinion of him has completely changed for the worse.

I still like him. Love how patient he is with Jordan!
I like his general upbeat attitude, but I don't like how he went on to Kalia. I would have discounted his remarks; however, he did go on about them in a very heated manner, like MFWalkoff said.
That really bothered me.
To Thine Own Self Be True
Some people base their feelings on their upbringing. My family is strictly Baptist...old school. When I told them that my former assistant principal and the woman's PE teacher were lesbians, they just about flipped. Said there was something wrong totally with that. Nothing I could say would change their minds. They are not mean, just strong in their belief.
People go to the polls and vote away other people's basic civil rights based on beliefs like that. That's why it's not something so easily shrugged off by some of us.

The fact that Jeff was so riled up and absolutely refused to listen to any rationale Kalia was trying to present had me scratching my head.
Skip 10 years down the road, suppose Jeff and Jordan have kids, and they have a gay teacher. What's going to happen then?

But he did listen. Him and Kalia had a chat, he apologized and told her she was right. So he is willing to listen. Also, 10 years down the road...I suppose he'll have Jordan there to calm him down and he'll get to see firsthand that it's in fact, just fine to have a gay teacher. I honestly just think he's never really had any gay friends to show him the way. Just because he lives in an urban area doesn't mean he can't still be naive. And I think that word sums up both Jeff and Jordan. They are naive. They just don't know. And being in the house with Kevin doesn't count because it was a controlled environment. They didn't see the "real" Kevin living his everyday life. Opinions and beliefs CAN change and I'm holding out hope for him. He's genuinely a nice guy so I think if he were exposed more to that lifestyle, he'd come to understand it.
I hate when the cops throw me in the back of the squad car ....like they didn’t hear me call shotgun.
