Beauty and the Geek 11/6 Recap: Más Tequila!

We have reached the halfway point in the Beauty and the Geek season, and you know what that means! Absolutely nothing! In case you missed the first half of the season or just wanted to torture yourself all over again, the CW aired a clip show last week. I don’t know if any of you caught it or not, because I sure didn’t. I had better things to do like, oh, sleep. Just when you thought you were starting to forget about all of our cute little beauties and geeks, we are back with a new episode. This time, we head to Mexico. Olé!

I’d Like For You To Flower In My Garden

Natalie and John return from the elimination room, still upset that their friends Jesse and Erin were booted. It doesn’t really seem like the remaining beauties and geeks care either way who comes back. I’m so over this stupid opening “shocking return” scene. I say they replace it with a few minutes of Dave LARPing at the beginning of every episode. Wouldn’t that be fun? Okay, I got the Dave/LARPing wisecrack out of my system and I’m ready to move on. Mike surprises everyone in the bedroom with the exciting news that they are all going to Mexico! Sam compares going to Mexico like going to a new club, because he lives his life like he’s on Spring Break all day, every day. Using all of that fake self-tanner really gives him the appearance of actually being on a never-ending Spring Break too.

Come on. You know you love it.

The ladies and gents celebrate how far they’ve come in the game with a little champagne and a little Español. William tells us in Spanish that he’d like for us to flower in his garden. Hmm. Maybe that’s something you should do alone in the dark, Willie. Sam practices saying words like “water” and “juice”. He comments that he is so excited to learn the history of Mexico. By history, he means the history of parties and Spring Break in Mexico. He just gets more impressive every episode, doesn’t he folks? Jasmine wonders if they have hangers in Mexico. They sure won't have much brain power in Mexico once these dimwits arrive!

The Jen and William drama continues this episode with further discussion of the whole “William called Jen fat” fiasco. Nicole asks if he called Jen fat and he says yes, he is so sick of telling her she isn’t fat that he snapped and told her she was. William says they are at war. Jen thinks he is close minded and she actually thinks she hates him. Shay tells William that he hurt Jen’s feelings. He says that Jen is the kind of girl who would always make fun of him in high school. Shay tells William that he needs to talk to Jen, but he really doesn’t want to. Shay drags him into the room where Jen is sitting, and showcasing his ever stellar social skills, Will runs away like a little sissy. Since this is a kindergarten situation, I guess kindergarten psychology applies here. Wittle Willie teases Jenny Wenny because he wooooves her. Personally, I can't stand either of them. Moving on...

Sam’s Like A Bad Rash… You Just Can’t Get Rid Of Him!

Bust out your sombreros recap readers; we are on our way to Mexico! The beauties and geeks arrive in Cancun and shortly after, the fun begins. Everyone frolics in the sparkling blue waters. Joshua leaves his t-shirt on while playing in the water and reapplies his sunscreen like a champ. Mike arrives on the beach with the announcement of the challenges. The beauties’ challenge will have to do with ancient group of people known as the Mayans. The geeks will be tested on how to spice up any fiesta (aka Salsa dancing). Mike advises that the only way for the contestants to guarantee that their team stays in the game is to win a challenge. Do I detect some foreshadowing for a crazy twist having to do with eliminations?

The five remaining beauties dress in their black ass-kicking gear complete with knee pads and boots, and head to an ancient Mayan ball court. They will be competing in a challenge that is like the game Memory. They will look at a wheel with symbols correlating to numbers. They must remember what number goes with what picture, find a treasure chest, and use the symbol/number correlations to unlock the treasure chest. The beauties must crack all of the codes and collect the treasures. Since the ground is sacred, nobody is allowed to run. All runners will be disqualified. Sam is pissed. Mr. Muscles loses his physical advantage. Jen is upset that her beautifully manicured nails are slowing down her ability to move the numbers on the lock. Sam and Natalie both open their 3 treasure chests and race walk swiftly to the finish line. Sam wins. Now where exactly is that middle finger smiley man on the Fort emoticon list when you need it? Sam and Nicole are safe from elimination this week. Lucky us.

Jasmine’s Got Her Beer Goggles On

Mike announces to the geeks that their challenge will be based on learning to Salsa dance. I’m already getting excited to see Joshua Salsa dance (flashbacks of the prom episode). Dave has no idea how to dance, Joshua is happy with the challenge, and William still wants a new partner. Later in the evening, it’s time for a beach fiesta! Everyone decides to take a shot of tequila as a “toast”. Dave took his shot then licked about a cup of salt off of his hand. Eww. Would you like some tequila with that salt? Shay takes Josh aside to teach him some one-on-one moves. She tells him to sexily (is that a word?) move his shoulders. She thinks he might have some of the rhythm, but he is definitely lacking in the sex appeal. Nicole asks if anyone has any special talents and Dave replies that he can do a round off back handspring. Now, I know he is drunk, but come on. Dave doing gymnastics? I wait excitedly, truly expecting him to fall on his butt. Holy man! Dave did a round off and went right into a back handspring! I can’t believe it. Everyone cheers and Jasmine is so excited for him that she gives him a kiss. Well, she’s either excited or just really, really drunk. I vote for the latter. Meanwhile, Sam is getting his flirt on with Natalie. Natalie, slurring her words, tells Sam she wants to be in the final 2 with Sam and Nicole.

The teams practice the Salsa dancing some more. Well, all except Miss Pouty Pants Jen and Whiny Wuss William. She tells him he needs to let things go and consider her feelings a bit more. He gets pissed and walks away. She calls him immature. Hey, high school called, they want their drama back.

Shake It Like A Polaroid Picture

It’s competition time and Mike announces that the geeks will get paired up with very experienced Salsa dancers. The dancer that appears for Nicole is dressed in a ridiculous outfit with giant sleeve ruffles. She calls him a Mexican peacock. Jen and William are ecstatic that they don’t have to be within 10 feet of each other. Jasmine coaches Dave and tells him to be more personal with his dancer. I love Jazz and Dave. Nicole and her dance partner begin the competition. Sam thinks she did a great job dancing with her dolphin man. Joshua is next, and he shakes his groove thing. It was only semi-awkward, but I’ll give him an A+ for effort. Dave enters the dance floor with a crazy psycho-like smile on his face. He was pretty into the dance, and I think he did a good job. John is next, and doesn’t do too bad either. William is last and Jen thinks his moves were stiff and monotonous. Monotonous was my word, not hers. It’s over 2 syllables, so I’m sure you knew it wasn’t hers. Anyway, after all of the geeks dance, it’s time for the results. Joshua gets second place. The winner of the Salsa dance competition is… Dave!

Mike congratulates Dave on the win and comments that he even ripped his shirt open while dancing. Dave says he didn’t get his chest waxed for nothing! The teams expect that they will all be going back to L.A. to go through the usual motions of picking teams for elimination then heading to the elimination room. Mike drops the bomb that an elimination will take place right there in Mexico. I didn't see that one coming! *excessive eye rolling*

Evening rolls around and the teams enter Survival-style into a shady area lit with torches for the elimination ceremony. They are told that *gaaaaasp* there will be no quiz round. For the first time ever, the 2 winning teams will have to unanimously decide which team gets sent home. John comments that he and Natalie won’t get a chance to defend themselves. Yeah, I guess that does kind of suck.

The Tribe Has Spoken

Jasmine and Dave along with Sam and Nicole get 30 minutes to discuss their thoughts. They all agree that Shay and Josh have a long way to go and they should stick around. Sam thinks that Natalie and Josh should go because they have grown the most and they are the biggest threat still there. On the other hand, Nicole thinks that William and Jen haven’t been getting anything out of their time at the house and she also thinks those two don’t even want to be there. The debate continues a little more and then the 3 winners a tool 4 winners head back to join the other teams.

Dave announces that the first team that is safe is Shay and Joshua. He continues that the other safe team is Jen and William. John and Natalie have been eliminated. William is pissed. He wanted to be eliminated because he feels that they are the dark cloud hanging over everyone else. John gives everyone a “Bon Voyage” on his way out. Hmm. Last time I checked, Bon Voyage was French, not Spanish. Take that, super geek.

John is sad that his experience is ending. Natalie says that the experience meant the world to her and she has learned that being into geeky things is definitely okay. She thinks she is now a better person. John says that they have been the closest team on the show and he is so happy for that. They share a really sweet hug.

Wow! My favorites on the show actually stayed this week! I’m still in awe at Dave’s round off and back handspring on the beach. If he can move like that doing gymnastics, imagine how he can move.... errr uhh *cough* anywhooo... Tune in next week, when we are down to the final four! The geeks learn about bartending and the beauties try to overcome their fears of Sam scary animals. Until next time, hasta la vista, baby.

Ashley, I've said it before, but it's worth saying again. I love this show, but I love your recaps even more! Dave really wowed me and I also thought about how his agility might come in handy in other ways like maybe *cough* getting the mail.

Thanks for another great recap, Ashley! While I'm glad your favorites weren't eliminated, I'm sad mine were. There are some others that need to go!

Re: Beauty and the Geek 11/6 Recap: Más Tequila!

Thanks for another great recap, Ashley!! I just got to watch it today. My new favorites are Jasmine and Dave. I'm really liking Dave - he's come a long way since the beginning. I'd like to know him - and Jasmine. I won't be upset if Joshua and Shay win either, but it'd better not be Sam and Nicole, or heaven forbid, William and Jen! I will never take this show seriously again if it's William and Jen!
