After 4 seasons where I rooted for the wrong people, I think it's time to take a step back and just say No to becoming emotionally attached to any of these guinea pigs.
Very true psucashcow, and to be a successful viewer it also helps to be objective to avoid disappointment. This was the first season since A/T that I got it wrong and I think it's because I was convinced the editors were totally playing with us (and I was all about the edit). Well, they were actually but not in the way I thought. I have to come up with a strategy for next time. LOL

Go back and listen to when CH asked him about why did he come back on the day she was to get engaged. He said because he thought that was what she wanted.
It sounds like the producers did to Reid what they did to Jeremy. They totally set him up to believe that she was not in love with either of her F2 and would welcome him back into her life. I think this is some of the worst of their manipulations. I'd love to know more about how they got him to return as we put the puzzle pieces of Bachelorette 5 together.

I can understand why Ed didn't get a typical F1 edit, maybe because of the gf rumors and/or the crew didn't like him, but Jillian?
--Totally agree that they made her appear very loose. I don't know if "the crew" liked or didn't like him. Actually, I do know this. The crew are composed of dozens of people, of varying job descriptions, and they are not of one monolithic opinion about anything, including most prominently, whether they "liked" Ed. The top line of producers loved Jillian and will probably stay her dear friends for life, and I don't believe that they think she was "thrown under any bus" with the edit.
    2. Wes: Looking back with my Kip blinders off, I think Jillian's original F2 would be him and Ed. Did he back out because he wasn't interested in Jillian, or his studio schedule? I understand the show needed a villain, and Wes unwittingly gave them the materials, but why constantly threw him under the bus, even at MTA?
--Sleuthing lesson for the future. We overlooked Wes for weeks on the thought that he was there for Wrong Reasons, etc. The signs that she cared for him sincerely were all there and it took "us" weeks to see that. Sleuthing suffers from bias.

    3. Kip: His story took a backseat after HTD. Some of us guess he was intended to be the next Bachelor in the beginning, but he said "NO" around the time when HTD was edited/shown. Any truth to that?
--Not sure what his plans are. Class act on the show, so true.

Oh, that difficult and humbling spot to be sincere yet sincerely wrong.

I am so new , I'm going to ask anyway.... is this something tptb would actually do... LIE to Reid without him being the least bit suspicious?? Does it actually get this low.... they sit there rubbing hands together with glee mixed with drool, as he steps out in faith...

Re: Last Words ... Bachelorette 5

In talking with my BFF (yes, we have been talking about this show for weeks now!), we realized one reason why we love it is because it is a window into the male psyche that we don't usually get. We have our husband, our Dad, our sons and maybe a few exboyfriends out there who we have gotten to know on this emotional level. However, for the most part, guys keep these feelings to themselves. On this show, we see them at their very best and very worst. It's kind of like a modern day fairy tale where princes fight for the princess (even in their white docksiders!). We see how women make bad choices and get sweet-talked.

Seriously, what woman doesn't love that image of Reid running in there all disheveled and emotional -- rushed but certain -- with a ring he just bought, ready to sweep her away. It's like a movie -- especially because of how much he risked for love. We shed a tear for Kip because we know he had her at hello but she needed those three little words just a little sooner. We all sigh because we know her Dad connected with Ed and that was that last little push she needed, but the red flags are still there. . . The caution tape should be around Ed, not Kip.

For whatever reason, in the limelight of this show, one's character becomes strikingly obvious. We saw Jillian as the free and open spirit that she is . . . the trusting girl who still believes, deep down, that love is painful and you have to "work for your happiness". We saw, right before our eyes, Kiptyn realize that he loved Jillian -- and deciding that this love deserved a commitment-- he wanted to throw everything in on this girl.

In watching the MTA last night I actually shed a few more tears when Jillian had a visible reaction to Kip saying he did love her when he had said it. A few tears also slipped out for Reid and his willingness to say that he loves her still-- after all this, even now, loves her still. I know that hearts heal and whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I believe that Kip and Reid are both better men for this experience. I still like Jillian as much as I ever did. She has been the best bachelorette, ever. Her heart is open and she is ready to love. Ed just said the right words. Sometimes the right words matter -- but, in the end, all that matters is what we do. Actions trump words every time. . . that's what I learned from this show.

So dull to read, so juvenile, and in the end, they are all about stooping to the level of the show, not rising to the challenge of figuring anything out. THAT SAID, among those "Jilly-ions" of posts, many bright spots of people posting true inside information in a balanced neutral manner (Bloomers! Cupcakes!), sleuthers brilliantly taking apart photos and matching them to real world people and places (Kasha and so many, many others), funny funny funny people (I'msotired, BritLit, bamabrain, sushifan), loyal fans who don't stoop to "ad feminem" attcks (Cantstopwatchin's brilliant summary of the competing Ed/Reid plot lines comes to mind), etc. And many others, I'm too burned out (and a bit rushed this morning!) to catalogue. This is the still the place to "find out what happens" and everyone knows it. Love to all. J.
I have to say this was the hardest part of this season. I actually feel bad for everyone who allowed rumors about Ed to get in the way and block the true love story unfolding on screen.

But what a love story it was...

    1. On their 1st date the connection was strong and they had 3 days in the house.
    2. Ed decided that he can't risk his job on a maybe with this girl.
    3. Jillian makes him promise that when he meets the right girl not to let work get in the way.
    4. Both are devastated when he leaves.
    5. Ed realizes his mistake and comes back and despite a desire to play hard to get - Jillian just can't hide her feelings. Ed has been true to his promise and not let work get in the way for the girl he truly loves.
    6. In Spain, Ed is the only one to stay in the FS all night.
    7. In Hawaii, Ed knows that meeting his parents is important so he has them come to meet Jilian.
    8. Despite a perceived bedroom issue, truth is that they have undeniable chemistry.
    9. Ed professes his love and Jillian hers and they get engaged.
    10. They appear giddy on the ATFR, she is moving and they are planning to get married soon.

Without any rumors...this is the stuff we hope for on this show. But people have chosen to listen to RUMORS about Ed. No proof, no indication from Jillian that there is any trouble and Ed seems 100% devoted to her.

In the past I allowed inside info to cloud what I was seeing but I am so glad I didn't this season b/c I see a couple who I think will make it and be very happy together.

I am not a fan of Reid, but had Jillian picked him, I would have been happy for her. If she were as happy as she is with Reid as she is with Ed - then I would have admitted that I missed something in the edit and been elated that through all the crap, Jillian found true love.

Jillian picked Ed who had stayed inside the mansion with her; Deanna's choice - Graham/Jesse, also had that mansion time. Do you think TPTB will do the same in the next Bachelor season?

I have one question...going by Reid's insinuation about the FS, if she knew she was in love with Ed, why'd she have sex with Kip and Reid? Doesn't say too much about Jillian.
