TV Ratings for The Bachelorette 5

    Episode 7 Home Town Dates:
7.96 million viewers and 2.7/8 in adults 18-49.

A sizable improvement for the first post group dating episode, beating The Bachelorette 4's performance. It also beat The Bachelor 12. It was the second best performance of the season. ABC has to be thrilled by the improvement.

The Bachelorette was #1 in three of four half hours in viewers and #1 in each half-hour in demo, improving each half-hour. All the competition was repeat.

Lead out show Here Come The Newlyweds lost three and a half million viewers from The Bachelorette's last half-hour. But again, ABC was second in viewers and won the night in the demo, all because of The Bachelorette.

Comparison Home Town Dates from earlier seasons are episode 6.

    Comparison to episode 6:
6.8 million viewers and 2.3/7 in adults 18-49.

    Comparison to episode 5:
6.6 million viewers and 2.4/7 in adults 18-49.
Average of half-hour fast affiliate ratings.

    Comparison to episode 4:
7.16 million viewers and 2.4/7 in adults 18-49.

    Comparison to episode 3:
6.34 million viewers and 2.2/6 in adults 18-49.

    Comparison to episode 2:
6.01 million viewers and 2.1/6 in adults 18-49.

    Comparison to Premiere episode:
8.94 million viewers and 3.0/8 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to Bachelorette 4 (MeAnna) episode 6:
7.52 million viewers and 2.5/8 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 13 (Jasson) episode 6:
11.59 million viewers and 4.2/10 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 12 (Matt) episode 6:
7.66 million viewers and 2.7/7 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 11 (Br@d) episode 6:
10.59 million viewers and 3.9/10 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 10 (Andy) episode 6:
10.73 million viewers and 3.8/10 in adults 18-49.

TV Ratings for The Bachelorette 5

    Episode 8 Spanish Fantasy Dates:
7.66 million viewers and 2.5/8 in adults 18-49.

The Bachelorette 5 beat The Bachelorette 4's Fantasy Dates episode. It was the #1 show in three of the four half-hours in both viewers and demo, and improved each half-hour. All competition was in repeat. Having two Fantasy Date episodes this time presents a unique event to compare, so next week's comparisons will be the same.

Lead out show Here Come The Newlyweds lost three and a half million viewers from The Bachelorette's last half-hour again. Yet ABC was second in viewers and won the night in the demo, all because of The Bachelorette. The best news for ABC is that there are three weeks left instead of just two. The two additional episodes this season will help ABC's summer ratings.

So far, The Bachelorette 5 is averaging 7.18 million viewers. Given lower post-strike ratings and over the summer scheduling, that's okay. (Though I believe The Bachelorette would do better if an hour later, airing 9-11 p.m., The Bachelor will air in the 8-10 timeslot beginning next January.) I expect ABC to order another season of The Bachelorette for next summer.

Comparison Fantasy Dates from earlier seasons are episode 7.

    Comparison to episode 7 HTDs:
7.96 million viewers and 2.7/8 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelorette 4 (MeAnna) episode 7:
7.32 million viewers and 2.3/8 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 13 (Jasson) episode 7:
12.5 million viewers and 4.5/11 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 12 (Matt) episode 7:
7.79 million viewers and 2.6/7 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 11 (Br@d) episode 7:
10.0 million viewers and 3.9/10 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 10 (Andy) episode 7:
10.9 million viewers and 4.1/11 in adults 18-49.

Re: Bachelorette 5 Media Thread - Jillian

Okay, I live in Calgary and this is what was in local paper today. I also heard on the radio that rumors has it that her chosen one actually came with her and probably changed his looks so people won't recognize him. But who knows how true this is:

Bachelorette Jillian Harris kicks up heels at Calgary party

CALGARY - The Bachelorette has traded her red roses for a cowboy hat.

While millions of people across North America tuned in to watch Jillian Harris on ABC's hit reality TV show Monday evening, The Bachelorette herself watched the show at a Calgary watering hole during her annual visit to the Stampede.

"I just love the Stampede," says Harris, 29, who arrived at the downtown restaurant-lounge Crush to meet nearly 30 girlfriends after a day at the rodeo.

"I come every year. It's the best place to just kick back and relax with my friends."

Harris shot to fame in 2008 as a fan favourite and second runner-up on The Bachelor. As this year's Bachelorette, the first Canadian in the role, she has continued to capture the hearts of fans while driving up ratings for the reality show.

Having lived in Calgary from 1999 to 2005, the interior designer from Peace River, Alta., can Stampede like a pro.

Since she arrived Friday evening, she has been to the rodeo, hit the midway rides, spent the day playing bingo over beers on the grounds and gone two-stepping at Nashville North. By the time she leaves, she will have added pancake flipping for a charity and chuckwagon races to the list.

"Once a Calgarian, always a Calgarian," says Crush owner Brad Bell, who has been friends with Harris for several years and can't recall another time when a reality show played on his bar's big screen TVs. "This was a special request--it's usually sports. Jillian is such a special girl. I was happy to have her and all her friends here to watch the show."

As personable in real life as she is on TV, Harris made a point of catching up with each one of the women who had come to watch their friend on TV. In person, she is as much a girl's girl as she is one of the guys on the show. She's also prettier and more petite off camera. (Not many people can get away with a one-piece pantsuit like her.)

"It's so amazing to see her back at Stampede because it's like back to real life," says Calgary's Kendra Bryant, who has known Harris since Grade 2.

"People recognize her--that happened today at the grounds--but Jillian is the same person she's always been. I don't know the outcome of the show -- there's no way she'd tell. But the girls and I are guessing it's Ed or Reid."

Although at times it was difficult to hear the show over all the excitement in the room, Harris clearly had the support of her friends, who cheered when she finally sent bad-boy bachelor Wes home.

"Wait for it," yelled Harris with her arms in the air as everyone in the room held their breath during the rose ceremony, in which she dismisses one suitor off the show. "Poor Wes. They give him a bad rap."

Last month, Harris came back to Alberta during a featured visit on the show to take her suitors on The Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Banff. Following the show, the luxury train company received as much online traffic in one day as it typically had in an entire month.

During this visit, however, Harris was without a Bachelor in sight. Prohibited from commenting on the results of the show, she added: "I can't even tell you whether I wind up with any of them."

TV Ratings for The Bachelorette 5

    The Men Tell All

7.98 million viewers and 2.7/8 in adults 18-49.

That beat MeAnna's and Matt's Tell All programs. While the Tell All shows typically do a bit lower than the HTDs and FDs, this time the show actually beat all the episodes except the premiere. Again it was the #1 show across three of the four half-hours. The last half-hour peaked at 8.38 million viewers and 2.9/8 in adults 18-49. Only one show of competition was new, the Great American Road Trip had less than 3.5 million viewers.

Lead out show Dating In The Dark's premiere lost two million viewers from the last half-hour and held onto most of the demo, so it did better than Here Come The Newlyweds's premiere. ABC was #2 in viewers for the night and #1 in the demo.

The Bachelorette 5 is averaging 7.34 million viewers this season. ABC is happy with Jillian's season. Other than Wipeout, it is ABC's only bright spot this summer. And that there were two additional episodes this time through will help ABC's ratings.

Comparison to episode 9 Hawaiian Fantasy Dates:
7.91 million viewers and 2.7/8 in adults 18-49.

He should wait til Wednesday, then...because if she picks no one tonight, it might have been a Charlie and she'll pick someone on Tues. show. Not live, of course.

Who knows...Riaz is "Johnny on the spot" in Vancouver...he may get to reconnect with his dead rose after all.
