Editing does wonders..

Adam was on a show called Average Joe...I have watched just about every dating show since they started many moons ago...I am now pretty "jaded" on them but still enjoy them...

Just the way soap opera fans "accept" the fact that characters can age overnight, get younger, or be replaced by a new actor I think reality fans have to "accept" that on dating shows the "fan favorite" might not be the one the "bach/ette" decides they want to love/live with/sleep with

Having favorites on "talent shows" is a different thing...we can "objectively" state our preference...but when it comes to matters of the heart I think it is hard to reconcile the "fan fav" with who they pick

Slanting and editing has so much to do with it : just imagine...IF the producers had used a phone call with Ty whining or crying "when are you coming home daddy, I miss you" and had replayed this a lot....IF they had shown the ex wife or the fancy super romantic wedding they had...people might have felt differently. They could have even portrayed Jason as "on the rebound" and too anxious to find a replacement...after all he was only divorced one year

I remember other shows where a "single parent" was berated for leaving their kiddo at home ....that was the editorial slant.

For those who keep watching these shows, like me, sometimes watching the editorial slant and the "predictable" reactions become interesting in and of themselves LOL.

You say there are a "lot of Jeremy and Graham fans" and I guess you are a Jason fan....however apparently DeAnna did not fall in love with any of them....so why be angry at her for that?? Seems to me that you can be a fan of them without hating on De and Jesse??
As for "snarking" on them....history repeats itself. That is why I have repeated the Adam story..

or look at Bob Guinney...much loved during Trista's season, he went on to be one of the most hated bachs of all time....DeAnna herself was "loved" and people wanted her as the Bachelorette

I do maintain that the producers set up these impossible situations and slant the editing, otherwise why not just stop filming after the first few weeks when the "one" decides who they like?? or stop filming during home visits if they decide then or whatever?

I think you mistake a "fan favorite" on a love show with a "fan fav" on a talent show. My guess is that Jeremy...or Jason....will be edited in a different way if they are the new bachelor...they may not pick the girl that the editors portray in the favorable way (who then becomes the fan fav). Again, from watching many seasons of this and similar shows, I will repeat the fact that the "most despised" ones are the "retreads/repeaters"

Actually no, I am a Jeremy, Graham, Fred, Twilley, Brian, Sean, and Jason fan. I wasn't a Graham and Jeremy fan at the beginning, but they both have impressed me how they are handling the situation. Even after DeAnna keeps throwing cheap shots at Graham, he still is respectful. I never was a fan of Jesse's, no matter if DeAnna picked him or not. I still believe there is more story to the gf than is being said, and I also cant get excited about somebody who willingly tells the other guys he is there for promotional reasons only. As for posting a link, as somebody said earlier, you cant post links, and I really dont feel like going through links to prove something that I read with my own two eyes. Jason said he was down on his knees alot longer than it showed, and I believe him. He has no reason to lie, and like the one poster said, DeAnna did not deny this, which she could have at the ATFRC when he directly asked her. Jason has been nothing but gracious and respectful towards DeAnna and Jesse. He has not said one unkind thing, and states that they are still good friends. I think it takes a pretty amazing person to be able to do that. It just saddens me that others want to see him fail at the bachelor (if he is chosen) just so they can have vindication.

As for the proposal, well if you go back and watch the AFRC Jason askes DeAnna point blank "why did you let me get down on one knee and propose"? De's response " I guess I got caught up in the moment". Yes Jason was shown as being brought up rather quickly, but editing is a huge factor in making this show what it is. If this had been shown in full, then DeAnna would have looked pretty bad for not stopping him sooner. Her allowing Jason to do so was a bad choice. I know some say that Jason was too eager around De, well looking at things a little differently maybe De was eager to have her proposal at the end. The way that De handled certain situations and treated some of these men, she certainly didn't come off smelling like a rose, but came off as more of a thorn from a rose. IMO of course.
That is correct. Jason said it more than once that he did propose and Dee told him she got caught up in the moment. Those are the facts. Dee didn't try to dodge that question. She knew he proposed and I really felt like she was sincere when she first came out and apologized to him. She stated that she didn't want anyone to feel like she did from Brad's season and she felt like she did the same thing to him. Jason is the only person that she told that. Dee, Jason and Jeremy have remained friends since the show so I don't think we need to be taking sides when they have managed to get along well and it was their personal lives not ours.

We can't make people believe what they don't want to believe. We just need to accept that people are going to have different opinions and agree to disagree.

I have never messaged before so I don't know if I did the "quote thing" correctly.

Re: Jason - Bachelorette 4

If Jason is chosen, I don't think you'll see a horrible edit. ABC knows, to quote, their current President, Steve McPherson, "they need the right guy". They know their track record stinks and they are in desperate need for a win or this particular franchise will be retired. It's stock has fallen from a regular season performer to that of a "back-up/replacement" series for now.

This a guy that a majority of their audience is endeared to, and an audience that is still steaming about the last outcome. Add to that the Matt/Shayne fraud and I fail to see how crucifying Jason editing-wise would aid their cause at all. It sounds like if he gets selected, they are going to approach the show in a whole new way and it needs it.

It's interesting to me that since he didn't do anything to find fault with during the show, he's now being picked on because he's more popular than the happy couple. There's also the implication that it is somehow wrong that his story resonated with a lot of the viewing audience who would like to see him get a happy ending. How is that a bad thing? It's good for the show, right? Positive press and all that is a win for everyone.

ITA. I think the reason that so many viewers were so attracted to Jason in the beginning, was because of De herself. SHE is the one that told US that she wanted the home, husband, 3 kids before 30, etc... We all saw that with Jason. I personally liked Deanna very much in the Brad season, and even more at the beginning of the bachelorette. She, however, due to her behavior during and at the end of the show, have made me feel antipathy toward her.

Re: Jason - Bachelorette 4

I just read in a recent magazine that DeAnna is hoping for a 3 million dollar wedding from ABC to be broadcast on ABC and thinks she will get it because she is so popular Well, I personally watched the show for Jason because of his genuineness and of course his good looks!! and I have no intention of watching a DeAnna and Jesse wedding (if they even make it to that point.) Now a Bachelor season with Jason finding a fabulous woman.....that I would tune in for.

Emptynestmom, I second that one. Wouldn't be watching any wedding at all.
I think ABC knows that as well. Heck they didn't even go through with the
engagement party. That would have been a lot less money and they could have tested the waters to even see if even that was viable and they didn't.

The fact is that Jason was the STAR in DeAnna's show. Maybe that is the reason she kept him till the end just to have viewers tune in. ABC would have had a flop otherwise...

I would agree with you - and hope someone at ABC would rethink spending - actually wasting - that amount of $$ on a wedding - donate it instead - tho not to benefit Jesse's program - but to kids and families that need it to survive - I think that extravagance is absolutely rediculous!! uuggh

I don't know about the general public, but from what I gather the majority of people on the boards wouldn't care to watch. Deanna and Jesse want 3 million as payment for (allowing) LOL ABC to produce the wedding. They would expect ABC to pick up the entire tab for the destination wedding too. That alone would run into the millions. It would probably cost them upwards of 10 million total. That would be a HUGE waste!!!!

BabyfaceC's Avatar is a photo of him and Jeremy. Jeremy told him, I'm sure, and Jason told Jeremy. It IS true that DeAnna let Jason go through the complete proposal. He said so in an interview and said he was on his knee a good while talking to her and then she got to say NO, I CAN'T.

I think she couldn't resist getting TWO proposals on national tv after getting unceremoniously DUMPED by Brad. That's cruel! What I want to know is why she stood there like a FOOL and didn't say a word to Jason OR Jesse when they walked up on the podium. I mean, SHE was the one with the answer, so why did she just stand there looking at THEM waiting for THEM to speak? Jason was right to confront her about her bad behaviour on ATFR and it was the first time I've EVER seen her speechless and stuttering and groping for something to say. She knew she had behaved badly.

Jesse said in a radio interview today that he and DeAnna made plans to meet Jason and Ty this weekend (or next week) on Mt. Hood. I think it's great they are friends.
