Jason - Bachelorette 4

I'm still on the fence with this guy. I find him likable and yet it still bothers me that he would leave his son for such an extended period to do something so frivolous, especially if he is, as it appears, the custodial parent.

I don't find anything frivolous at all about going on the show. To me, it's obvious that he loves his son (curious to know what happened to the mother). So, regardless of why he's going on the show, it can only be for the betterment of his own life and by extension, that of his son.

What motivated him to go on the show? He could be looking for:
- A wife for himself
- A mother for his son
- Money
- Fame

Only the last is an inexcusable reason to leave his son in order to go on the show.

I agree. No problem with him leaving his son for this. There are many single parents and married ones out there on reality shows and they aren't always there for good reasons.
I believe Jason is seriously looking for love and a good person for his son to love too. Plus he never knew if he would be booted the first night or make it to the end - so the time away from his son was always questionable as to how long.
I'm sure he has someone equally great caring for his son while he's gone.

I was thinking more about this and at the end of the show Deanna made a comment about how she "knows" one of them is her future husband, yet there is this dark secret that she has not been told.

I have to respond because, while I don't personally know Jason, my parents do know him and his family. Although it appeard that he is the custodial parent of his little boy, he's not. He shares custody with his ex-wife.

(I had to ask my mom how it turned out his ex-wife was out of the picture. She explained the woman is not out of the picture. The show just made it look that way.)

Although I agree that the topic should be considered, this reminds me of Trista and Ryan. People thought there would be no way Trista would move to the cold Vail, Colorado...and look how that ended.

I believe that like Trista and Ryan, both Jason and DeAnna know what they want in life and I think DeAnna will actually admire Jason for being a loving father rather than a dad who just makes support payments and is not involved in his childs life.

DeAnna's father remarried, and even though it was under different circumstances, DeAnna knows that a second marriage may not be the ideal situation or what she imagined she'd be doing, but she knows it can work.

I too thought about whether or not Deanna would move to Seattle and then I thought about Trista and Ryan. IMO, if you love someone enough to choose them then you are also saying that you are open to the possibility of moving to the other side of the country. IMO, the possibility of moving is something that any Bachelor or Bachelorette has to consider and I think that if they aren't open to that possibility then ABC probably should choose someone else.

I like this guy. There is something earnest and sweet about him that the others lack. He has the cute guy huggableness about him. She likes him too, but I don't think she's sold on him yet. They seem to have more in common than she does with many of the others.

I'm rooting for Jason. He seems like one of the most sincere guys in that motley group.

However...I wonder if DeAnna should/would go forward with him and take him to the final 2. After all, it would be her first marriage, and she seems like the type who would want to get pregnant right away. I hope Jason's son wouldn't get lost in the mix when their family starts to grow.

Kudos to DeAnna for giving that thoughtful gift to Jason's son. Very nice!
