Re: Bachelorette 4 Media thread

It was a good one. Thanks for posting it. I think he's a nice guy.

The interviews seem to be telling me that he thought that Jason was the one for DeAnna and pretty much took himself out, because of that.

I knew that it hurt at the moment, but that everything was going to be for the best. She and I both knew it. It was more mutual than you will ever see.

I'd love to know exactly what he meant by that. I hate cryptic messages!!
Since Graham pretty clearly states in the interview that he did NOT ask to leave the show and did not know ahead of time that he was going to leave, I think that "it was more mutual" means that their feelings were at a mutual level ... meaning that De was really not as into him as the producers wanted to portray to keep mystery and build drama.

Graham said that at his HTD was when he realized his feelings for De were as far as they were going to get in the time period of show (although he also admitted they may have progressed more but not to the "in love" stage) ... and that they both realized it at end of HTD. That's why he went into the rose ceremony knowing in his GUT that it would be the end.

I ALSO think that he had a strong inkling of her connection with Jason. He references this a couple times and also said Jason's name first when he listed his friend on the show (only after listing De). It seems that Graham recognized himself to be a distraction to his FRIENDS moving forward with a long term relationship.

Re: Bachelorette 4 Media thread

Great interview! Thanks for the find, Casualfan.

I found this interesting:

I find it totally weird that she never talks about what she does for a living.
She never does. She was just pretty content to talk about her feelings — 120 percent of the time.

Did you ever talk about her life and her job?
You know, she and I talked about … mostly how I felt about her. [Laughs] I’m sure we talked about music sometimes. But, no, the time that you are given it’s pretty much revolving around the concept of the show and the relationship and where you are in the process and how you’re dealing with that. We didn’t talk day-to-day details too much, which is obviously kind of disturbing if you’re going to marry someone in that short period of time.
How can you possibly build any kind of lasting relationship with anyone on this kind of foundation??? Makes you wonder how the true essence of the show can be lasting love when all is built on such superficiality.

Re: Bachelorette 4 Media thread

Mmm...I recall from the Magic Castle date or was it the first 1 one 1 date that it looked like Jason and DeAnna spoke about her life, because he brought up something like 'I live with my youger brother too'...like she told him that she lived with her sister (not that we heard it though)..., because he told her about his brother and how sometimes it seemed like he was his parent!

It's been stated by past contestants that they talk about everyday things. I believe Tessa said that she and Andy would talk and talk, then the producers would interrupt, say it wasn't interesting TV and they were prompted to discuss something else.

We only see a small sliver of what really happens.

That may have been true with HDDA and Tessa; I heard the same.
But obviously from what Graham said about him and De, their relationship did not develop as deeply.

Re: Bachelorette 4 Media thread

I also think that was the nature of her relationship with Graham. She was so insecure about what he was feeling that she spent tons of time trying to get it out of him. Plus Graham is more laid back and less gregarious. I am guessing she directed their conversations. She definitely has more ordinary conversations with some of the other guys. She talked about living in Kentucky with Sean and her and Jason have discussed favorite foods, favorite things to do, travel, family, how many children each wants and must have discussed sports at some point because Jason knew that De loves to go to Braves games. It comes across as a bit awkward on tv to have those mundane conversations though (think about those early getting to know you 1 on 1s with Jason and De- not exactly earth shattering stuff but part of what makes their relationship seem the most normal to me).

Apparently Estella and Bob even chatted about the mortgage brokering business. But that was deemed too boring.

Something was off between Deanna and Graham from day 1. Hopefully things are more normal between her and her F1.

Excellent post appiah01!!! I believe that DeAnna talked about the Real Estate business with Jason at the Magic Castle when he asked if she worked at all with kids. She mentioned that kids didn't come along very often.
