Actually a little bird told me Twilley couldn't stand Jesse.

Why invite her down to a BBQ and then ignore her? She could have stayed at her house and rested or prepared for her 2 on 1 date. Yes she reacted very emotionally in a way that a man wouldn't but even still it is interesting that she has been called self absorbed (she's the Bachelorette- the show is about her just as the Bachelor is about him and his journey), a b**tch, controlling, etc. There is very little said reciprocally when the Bachelor solicits the women's feelings about him and then dumps then (a la Brad, who did take a public beating but far less so than Jen Schefft. I find neither to be appealing characters).

This show truly provides interesting commentary on male female relations and even more on the gender specific social constructs and stereotypes which we apply to behavior.
What a fantastic post! I never thought about it that way before, but you're so right - especially the parts I bolded. Thank you.

Simplechef - ooh that is interesting! I think that some of the guys might have picked up on some of the things I feel when I see Jesse and I am trying really hard to not be influenced by the things we know outside of the show and the edit. I think Twilley is probably a very astute man who is also really funny and I think a lot of people may understimate because of that.

I'm way behind on my reading, so this may have already been discussed. On TV Wednesday nite, CH was being interviewed, and he confirmed that Matt and Shayne were no longer living together. He had recently moved out, to his own apt., but Matt says they are still together. Just thought I would pass this along to anyone interested. So do you think there will still be a ATFR?

Absolutely. These 2 will do whatever it takes to be on national tv again include extending a "relationship" which seemed manufactured to me for self promotional purposes. Why not go on tv and give the whole "we are taking our time and taking a step back to build our relationship" line while reintroducing one's face to the public again? What is Matt even still doing in the US? If he isn't living with Shayne and has no gainful employment why hasn't he returned to resume his life in London. Well, not as many parties and run ins with the paparazzo for him across the pond.

I like that Deanna said to stick it out to him.. that speaks volumes for her liking him and him not being just a producer pick.
I understand what you're saying. It just seemed that he was getting laughed at and to me that's just not cool to laugh at someone in a vulnerable moment. It just bugs me is all whether he's my favorite or not I would never have laughed about that. I guess years of being made fun of and laughed at makes me more sensitive to it and I tend to rush to the defense of others when I see it happening to them.

Much less interesting to watch. Honestly these men are competing just as much as the women do but we find it to be endearing that they are fighting for her heart (a la Jeremy who said he was not there to make friends and cuts in others 1 on 1 time just like Robin who got tore apart on the boards on B12). Deanna was criticized last season for the same type of competitive behavior. We never call the Bachelor selfish or self involved when he expects the girls to focus on him. WOW BRILLIANT POST APPHIA!!!! So insightful, and enlightening. We certainly do hold the women to a different standard, and such a double standard. Thanks for pointing this out so eloquently.

DeAnna was so right in Brad's season when she said women are b*tches. It can be a hard life when you are a beautiful woman. That's why she is not well liked--jealously .

Thank you for the video, Simplechef! Aw, Twilley is such a sweet and funny man. Poor guy was set up because he has motion sickness, but he did very well.
