They started deleting them with episode #2, but may have stopped thinking nobody would catch them on account of these predating any rainbow discussion or "orchestrating from above".
(In addition, they left rainbow flares from last season in the episode #1 recap featuring Ali and Jake, over Jake's "it's almost like a fairy tale" and Harrison's "it looked like Al had found her Prince Charming". Yup, they story-boarded this season BIG time with no "edit" being ignored. I can just hear latergator saying "On no... not again!")
They purposely left the flares with the other guys... for a reason.
As stated in this week's online preview, Ali mentions "wasting time" over a clip of Frank. (Only they deleted it recently... either because I'msotired posted it here or because Reality Steve's prediction of Frank not being at ATFR is correct and they want Frank off the radar screen.)
Bottom line, they deleted Frank's "flares" to enforce that Ali's mind was on him, not Chris, when she was with him and obviously Chris must already know the Frank "history" and has dealt with it. (That is, I'm assuming he's The One.)
Watching Frank's footage on screen, everything is so obvious. She sees him angry after the Lion King date and has to comfort him under an umbrella, despite being very sick. After Blue Lagoon, she confronts him again. In Turkey, she tells him that their relationship "scares" her, but goes ahead and kisses him, commenting on the many "lovers" who visited their dining site. The fortune teller reading their coffee grinds point blank told Frank she saw "other women", but Frank's BS once again brought Ali back. Nonetheless, the producers (or Ali herself) purposely put him on a double date with Ty in Lisbon... something was definitely very, VERY wrong in this relationship. When discussing the hometown dates with Chris Harrison, she worried that her relationship with Chris might be "too late". Will things keep going "up and down" with Frank and will she get "sucked up" in the moment? Frank is clearly the OTHER man who is not necessarily the RIGHT man.
This brings me back to the flares... and how they comment on the idea of her thinking of Chris when they are seen. She doesn't have any "flare reminders" with Frank, but he is the polar opposite of not only Chris, but Roberto, Kirk , Ty and Craig... all candidates for the title "husband". Frank was always destined to be "boyfriend/lover".
On another note, I have to bring up one person's flares in particular...
Just why are Kirk's so much stronger than the others? His Lisbon one was the first I KNEW wasn't an accident. In addition, they purposely shot a lot of footage at sunset in Lisbon, knowing fully well the effect of the sunlight on the cameras.
Several things pop into my mind when I re-watch both Iceland (sweater date) and Lisbon (castle at sunset). Kirk's choice of words resemble either Ali (when discussing Chris) or Chris. In Iceland, Kirk brings his "inner child out" with Ali; in Tahiti, Chris feels like they are "twelve". Both guys talk about feeling vulnerable and are shy to discuss their past. Both kiss her on the forehead a lot. Kirk tells her in the carriage that he's in a "good place now". Ali later repeats the same words with Chris on the boat in Tahiti. In episode #7, she fondles both Kirk's and Chris' photos equally before the rose ceremony. Kirk tells her in front of a almost rainbow-ish sunset that he hasn't brought a girl home in three years (i.e. on account of his near-death experience). Chris tells her in Cape Cod that he hasn't since his mother's death (but isn't specific). Once again, notice where Ali is looking when these lines are said. The biggest flare for Kirk occurs during his line "I want to let Ali know that I care, that I'm here for her, I'm thinking about her and that she's important to me", which is basically a composite of several Chris lines jumbled together. Ali keeps saying, more than usual, when she is around both Kirk and Chris that she wants to let them know that she is thinking only of them. With Chris, it is obvious... but with Kirk, she still can't get a grip on her emotions.
This conversation was really intriguing...
Ali to Kirk (ep 7): I think I struggle a little bit questioning people rather than just accepting them.
Kirk: What do you mean?
Ali: Let's say we end up together at the end of this and a year from now, y'know, do you feel that you will start feeling the way you were feeling in your past relationships. I'm just worried I won't be good enough someday.
Kirk: You should not think that. That should never cross your mind. I'm not falling in love of the idea of you. I'm not falling for the concept of love. It's because I generally care about you. Here's the thing: I didn't completely know who I was before I got sick and had to put my life into perspective. And I really didn't think that maybe I deserved the people I was with and I know more than ever that I am deserving of love and I'm deserving of you and I'm deserving of happiness. It's weird that my heart's open. I feel like I deserve this...
Basically, what is happening here is Ali gets the confidence from Kirk to make her own decisions and that she is (as per ep #5) deserving of "love above all things", regardless of what happens.
This can be argued, but it appears to me that Kirk is like a "hidden Final 2" for this season. She has viewed Frank as the "lover", Roberto the well-mannered "romantic and potential husband", Ty the close "friend and potential husband" and Kirk and Chris as the official "husbands-to-be". Although Roberto goes to the Fantasy Suite with Ali, only Kirk and Chris are actually seen sharing her bed... episode #3's music video date (Kirk in bed/Chris shaving in bathroom... both with Ali playing "wife") and episode #4 in New York when she's sick (tucked in by Kirk, revived by Chris).
She purposely rejects Kirk at position #4 to prevent things from developing further in Tahiti. The crying starts immediately during her conversation with Harrison. The Men Tell All segment was very short and EXTREMELY awkward to watch, with shades of Jillian/Reid at their ATFR show. Kirk was clearly devastated and Ali knew it... and felt it. (Then again, according to the latest rumors, he's already dating... or so we are lead to believe...)
