Roberto, if he wants to continue his State Farm career, is not moving to San Jose anytime soon.Chris, from his own lips, is mobile.

So, I am not ready to rule anyone in or out yet. Which I think is the point of the all-over-the-map edit.
We had a sleuther in the roberto thread report that Roberto has yet to take over his agency that he was assigned ...most probably if the plan is still in place he will be taking over in Jan 2011 so between now and then theres a lot of time and flexibility for him to figure things out with Ali

    Re: Editing Analysis

It has seemed to me that Roberto is getting the Kiptyn F2 edit. He is the perfect guy that anyone would love to have a relationship with, but so far I haven't seen him express his love other than physically - which we know is scripted.

I think with Frank, they hoped for another Reid (glasses and all), but he was just too over the top in his jealousy of the other guys. When they knew they had a love story to tell, they let him go.

That leaves Chris to get the F1 edit. I can't wait for the next three dates and I hope they are together. Tptb had to give Jillian and Ed lots of time to create their love. If Ali and Chris did fall in love on this show, then it makes sense to me, that they are both out and about separately.

I have been re-reading the HomeTown descriptions for Matt's seasons on, and Ali's F1 and F2 line up (big surprise....) with DeAnna's.

Jesse who ended up DeAnna's F1 "teaches Deanna to snowboard, but will she conquer her potential in-laws as easily as she learned to snowboard? The Bachelorette attempts to win over Jesse's parents at a nerve-wracking dinner..."

Likewise, Ali faces Roberto's supposedly tough Army Ranger father's question and tries to reassure Roberto's family that she would be a supportive wife.

Jeremy who by DeAnna's own admission was intended to be F2 but ended up as F3 after Graham left is shown meeting DeAnna on a motorcycle (fancy that). "They sit and look at a photo album of his mom, and he reads from her journal. His brothers see how Jeremy has let down his guard. They warn her not to hurt him."

In a similar fashion, Chris and Ali also reminisce about his mom, and his family as well note how vulnerable he is.

*I don't believe they are going to be as "in your face" as Jeremy's brothers were, but it sounds as though these two HTs rather mirror each other to me.
Thanks for bringing all this forward--I love how you keep all of these! So interesting how they line up with this season.

    Re: Editing Analysis

After reading Bloomers' list of edit clues from previous seasons, I have to agree (as much as I want it to be Chris) that Roberto's HTD is getting the F1 edit. Add Tessa's HTD with Andy trying to impress the crap out of her family and friend and it sure looks convincing to me that that's how the F1 HTD rolls.

It is interesting how Roberto is portrayed as the perfect guy... these are the comments maid by Craig in ABC commentary episode 7...

---A karate kick? Roberto, what can't you do?

---He can't photograph! He actually has a flaw!

---The man is smooth, can't deny that!

---Roberto is a bit mysterious, always the nice guy in the group. Is she missing something?

It seems that 'the perfect' Roberto is what everyone saw.

I don't know. She literally jumped when she thought Chris' family had arrived in the sneak peek we saw. She wants to impress them too, really badly.

I don't see either Chris or Roberto getting a true F1 edit, basically

    Carrie: What an amazing observation!

    Re: Editing Analysis

luv2dance what I got from Craig R's posts is that Roberto is the same way he is with Ali as he is with the boys and he's probably reserved about how much he shares about himself. By his own admission he's shy and a poster EnergyStar has posted on fort saying he's a sensitive guy in the sense of how he takes personal things (my impression is the poster meant that he can take things personally - might have to do with the shyness or insecurity)

Regarding Criag R I kind of got the vibe that he's a tad bit suspicous of how suave and smooth Roberto appears to be, guys tend to get jealous of these types of guys so this doesn't surprise me...but also Craig R was clearly rooting for his home boys: Chris, Ty and Frank...so his comments are probably biased because of that

I thought Jonathan's comment nailed it - the one right after the last one you quoted by Criag R ...he said 'Roberto needs to open up a bit more? '

I agree with him - Roberto needed to be more vulnerable to Ali and I think we saw a start of that right at the end of their Portugal date when he told her he's never been with a woman like her...that reveals how he feels about her/how invested and amazed he is by her - that he feels lucky just by the fact that she thinks he's 'amazing' but this also reveals about his past. I think this was a key moment for Ali given her fear of not being loved back and being out of roberto's league because she realized he considers her the top quality woman he's had the fortune of 'being with' and IMHO that's what allowed her to pull him in for that intense kiss they shared at the end...she was definitely the agressor in that kiss and I saw her walls come down letting her emotions shine through ...

    JMO of course

emusha, I agree with your post. I didn't realize how she grabbed his face & went for it until I watched it a second time. I think he was starting to open up, but is it too late?

Perhaps Streetlight is the rest of the show... just shine a spotlight and let things fall where they may?

    Streetlight::

I can't wait to see where this goes... I'm hoping they let it play out now that they have us all hooked
There are probably some people reading these posts and laughing at how we all pick-apart the songs. Yet, this season does place a strong emphasis on two songs in particular... the one detailed here and the Bare-naked Ladies "You Runaway". (Although the Lisbon song with Kirk may not seem significant, the simple fact that he gets one like Chris pretty much establishes him as an early front-runner.)

Ali on the Barenaked Ladies song explains her feelings in week #3, when she is split among several men.
"I can't really commit to just one guy, so I'm kinda running away from each one of them. As much as 'Running Away' symbolizes sort of my life right now, I don't want to run anymore. At the end of this, I hope my two feet are planted with one great guy"

In terms of music scores, this show always recycles melodies endlessly and this drives everybody bonkers. I've often wondered if anybody here attempted to find where the "rising drumming guitar riff" (can't think of another word for it) is used every season. This is the one heard after the Dennis bracelet and during Ali's: "The walls finally came down and he really opened up to me. I think, even though we took little steps until now, I think Chris and I can take huge leaps the next few weeks and I'm hopeful that it will happen. Chris would make an amazing husband." It is the exact recording used (no change) with Ryan exiting his limo at Trista's final rose ceremony, just before Trista's "My walls have finally crumbled" speech. It is then repeated when the ring is put on her finger. Now don't jump to conclusions, folks...

First , maybe I should clarify my post because I meant Roberto should be vulnerable to Ali and open up about his feelings/insecurities...
In Iceland (2 dates ago) we found out/assumably Ali also found out that she's scared of not being loved back...so continuing in ali's perspective:

In Turkey (1 date ago) - Frank and Ali reached a point of emotional vulnerability about how they feel about each other during dinner when Ali realized Frank is scared of falling for her just like she's scared of falling for him. Though to us spoiled viewers we can sense something else behind Frank's comments... in Ali's eyes she felt an emotion she'd never felt before. I think this set him as the frontrunner at that point.

In Portugal (current week) - Roberto and Ali reached a point of emotional vulnerability about how they feel about eachother during their picnic at the castle. Ali realized Roberto thinks she's the best quality woman he's been with and what that may entail for him...this actually parallels her thoughts that he's too good to be true/out of her league and how invested he is in her.

Both these times Ali responded by being affectionate with each guy. to Frank she verbally expressed how she feels about him and was also physically affection. With roberto she doesn't reveal what she feels verbally aside from "you amaze me" but does grab him in for a kiss that had her gripping his shirt and him whispering afterwards.

So to answer your question about whether it's too late... given how close together these events are I don't think it was too late as long as Roberto keeps opening up and being vulnerable. I sensed a sginificant change in their connection after portugal - that kitty scene and their comfort with eachother and the fun they look like they're having at his HTD. it's a different level of connection. At the same time Frank's connection with Ali continues to strain...

I didn't see this kind of mutual disclosure of emotions with Chris L yet though there may be a potential for it in the HTD when he tells Ali about how he wouldn't have brought her home if he didn't know how he feels about her. JMO somoene can correct me if I'm wrong...
