... the one Chris Harrison makes a Big Deal over about Ali's "love" business, probably because he gets to play armchair psychiatrist
OK... enough said about the Blue Lagoon group date. Hands down, the 1 on 1s before the rose ceremony in this episode are among the most carefully edited sequences this season. Considerable care is given to capturing the facial expressions. The editing is very smooth with no noticeable jump cuts or manipulated dialogue, suggesting that the crew wanted to capture a specific "moment".
Edited a bit on the introductory remarks and I butchered some lines here. Now, these are very VISUAL scenes. At first, Ali looks at Frank with considerable affection and he looks like her front runner... AT FIRST. She does KISS (closed-mouth) both Frank and Roberto, but NOT Chris... which, to a viewer not looking closely at her facial expressions, would suggest that those two are higher up on the totem pole.
Frank (voice-over): She would like to see more effort to be by her side, because I've been holding back. So, I knew going into the rose ceremony today, I wanted to be the first guy to talk to her.

Ali: I was really worried about yesterday and how they were gonna react to my choice. I know the guys don't like Justin. I know that. He's been nothing but nice to me and says nice things and I don't know WHO I'm gonna end up with in the end of all this but...

A (laughs and hugs): Aw thank you
F: Lesson learned on that group date. Oh yeah, after you said that, I was, like, OK you are absolutely right. Even when we are the date, I'm like... this is not me. You are a smart girl and that's one of the most attractive things about you, honestly.
A: Thankyou. I like that you think that. (He nods) It's good to see you.
F: God, I miss you every day. I just saw you the other day...
A: You are so good (kisses, he grins and lights up) That's that look that I miss! That look that I like, that you want to be here and that you want to be with me. That's what I'm missing.
F (voice over): I feel like I'm back on track here. Ali and I tonight... we kinda renewed this feeling that we already felt. I want to see us fall in love. I want to be the last guy here.
Later, while the Quiet Dude (Chris N) is conversing with her, the camera zooms in on FRANK talking with Kirk, Craig and Roberto about "body language". Kirk comments he sees them as just friends (which is true, but with the extra joke about "brunch every year"). CHRIS IS NOT IN THIS SCENE.
This sequence is very important because viewers become aware of "body language" from this scene and... Chris has his 1 on 1.

Chris (PI/voice-over): It takes a little while for some people to warm up and put their feelings, .. and thoughts out there. After my last relationship, it was a hard time of my life with my mom passing. I probably came into this more guarded than most guys and still haven't fully opened up to her, so from now on this will be one of my priorities. Just to open up more and let her know that when she's looking for husband, she should be looking at me.
C: So what else do you want to know about me. (Ali sigh, this take is interesting because she KNOWS he KNOWS what she's going through) Doesn't mean you have to make a big decision.
Ali: I know
C: and I bet I get a rose so... (She laughs) No pressure or anything.
A: And this is OK. You want to stay in Cape Cod?
C: Um. Well, that's the thing is... the most important thing is love and family. I feel I can do anything and go anywhere. I just need to find that person to do that with, yy'know. I don't care where we live and what we do. I'll collect garbage in San Francisco, y'know, if you are the right one for me. We can live in San Fran. I don't care.
A (really happy in expression): And just lots of trips back to Cape Cod to see the fam.
F: Oh yeah. Got to hang out with the sisters-law, brothers and dad. My dad's an awesome guy and, like, he taught me so much and I can't wait for you to met him. I was lucky enough with my brothers to grow up in that house and learn from him what an awesome husband is and what an awesome husband should do and ifg I could be half the husband he was for my mom, I'll be doing damn good and you will be a lucky lady, y'know... so
A (yup, she's "gone" here): Aww... you're so cute. (hugs)
C (PI): I definitely want a rose tonight because I love the time that we spend together and I want more of it... I don't want it to stop. The two of us are a perfect match for each other.

Roberto is sitting looking somewhat melancholy...
R (PI) I still feel like I'm the right guy for Ali. We get along great. But I don't know her connection with other people. I know that mine with her is awesome and I keep trying as hard as I can not to think about her making connections with other guys.
He goes outside with her and the camera isn't as close, with more shots of her face than his. Both say "I miss you".
R: You're so cute.
A (looking down) Thank you. (hugging) Am I like people you would have dated in the past? Would you approach me if you met me out of here? Would you try to date me?
R: I'm kind of a shy guy, not shy... like I get along with people very well but I am not...
A: I would never come up to you.
R (looking slightly surprised, but grinning) Whatever
A: I would never...
R (very concerned and a bit hurt): Come up to me?
A: Because I would have thought you were too hot for me. (Laughs)
R (starts turning his head a lot for the next few lines): I don't believe it. I don't think I'm that hot.
A: You are.
R: No I'm not.
A: You're blushing.
R: There you go exactly. (Kissing)
R (voice-over) I'm invested... I'm invested in my heart and I think she feels the same way I do about her, so hopefully she will give me a rose and I can continue to traveling the world with her and hopfully I end up with the last rose.
Frank and Craig speak, Frank comments on the next rose and "I have faith that if I stick through this, Ali and I will be together in the end.

JBF I'm enjoying this journey with you. I was intrigued by a few things that I can't remember if you noted yourself or not...
the first was when Ali took over the moped, and was whizzing around the corners and all... and we hear in VO then see Chris in a PI saying: Oh my God!!! She's crankin around corners...brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrann nnnnggggg... she says lean with me, and I say... yes dear. Then he says in a PI : I should have been scared, but I just trusted her, so I was just holding on and just laughing!
The other thing that I found intriguing was when Ali and Chris were sitting on the wall before they got to the winery... they begin a conversation and Ali says that it sounds like his family all mess around with each other... then she says: I really wanted all boys. I bet your mom really liked being the woman of the house.
one last thing that I noticed on their date as they walked arm in arm, walking to the scooter, walking into the winery and walking out of the winery... they walked in step with each other. As a therapist that totally surprised me. Inside legs were in perfect step with each other, equal stride, equal rise to the reach and equal heel strike. Very equal and in tune with each other.
Later i'm glad you mentioned the walking in stride, I noticed that too, also you see how they would go through REAL life. Each one helping the other where the other is lacking. Walking equal, together, which is what marriage is.
Yes, latergator... but after seeing the zap2it videos, it is clear they have stopped hiding "it all." We have Jake and Vienna breaking up, followed by the Jillian and Ed split and a sizeable percentage of the "spoiled" viewers assuming Ali is with nobody. They will get their ratings without hiding anymore.
so what comes next... will they just lay it out there in plain view for the world to see? Hmmmmmm... the song from the Joshua Radin date was Brand New Day followed by Streelight.

Yes CL poured his heart out on Monday with the bracelet and how she's special to him etc. Ali needed that confirmation, which is why she kept throwing the friend-card about him prior to Monday night.
It's really her fear that CL's not being romantic to her as oppose to her not wanting to be romantic to him.
