Re: Reality Steve discussion only **Spoilers**
Once the season starts I am going to see the sleuthing thread pretty much become the "Screencaps Discussion" and "Edit Analysis" ... other than that I think I will be parked over here as well so as to keep myself out of trouble :/
Actually I see us having a "what the h*LL kind of edit is this?!?!?" analysis thread in the spoiler section and the objective one on the other side. haha
Re: Reality Steve discussion only **Spoilers**
i appreciate you mods giving this a chance. i enjoy knowing the spoilers, but i like seeing it supported with sleuthing. i don't think it is impossible to actively participate in both sides, so long as you respect those who choose to stay on one side.
my understanding of it simply is - if the information was a freebie, i.e. you were told and didn't use any deductive powers or publicly accessible sources of your own, it belongs on this side of the board.
a question though - what if a spoiler leads someone to sleuth out something that had been overlooked until that time? that hunter wagner's facebook was found almost exactly when RS spoiled him has been suspicious to me. he was legitimately sleuthed, but i do wonder if RS's post wasn't what led in that direction.
Re: Reality Steve discussion only **Spoilers**
I'm easily confused, so I might just have to stay here and post and only read the other sides. It's highly likely there will be folks who dont' understand the rules and will post what they want where they want. I wouldn't want to be a mod - too much work.
Re: Reality Steve discussion only **Spoilers**
The problem I am going to have is when I see someone asking a question on another thread and I can't just answer, "because RS said so" ... oops.
I wonder if we can give those kind of answers in the spoiler thread or do we simply just respond, "refer to the RS thread"?

HMMM...thanks for trying to explain but, I think a lot of us are going to be very confused this season!! :laugh

We don't know if he actually got cut the first night though, do we? RS said he was pretty sure he didn't make the top 9, but I don't think he said anything about hunter not making the first cut. Just from watching that video (which I have watched about a dozen times now!), I don't see how he could have NOT made at least the first cut.

I wasn't talking about Hunter. It was about another contestant that turned out not to be on this season. The IMDb page for Ali had some bachelor names and it said eliminated episode 1, but it was for Merideth's season because the date listed was 2004.
Re: Reality Steve discussion only **Spoilers**
It seems pretty simple ... if RS spoils the season as he did in Jake's season ... then basically, he spoils the season sleuthing for all the super sleuth's here. Last season, there was more about RS and his findings and for some hoping/trying to prove him wrong ... than about the fun sleuthing that you all do here.
The bottom line is RS has a source or sources, so let him use them and reveal if he so chooses, but to me, reading it is like filling out the crossword puzzle while you are looking at the complete solution. There are no ahah moments. :)
I like to read what evolves from the sleuthing on this site.

I would recommend resisting the urge to answer because directing them to a Reality Steve blog entry is answer in and of itself. This falls under the category of hints and coy posts. If you find yourself in the position of saying you know something but can't post it because it came from a spoiler - just don't post it in the sleuthing forum. Vent in this forum with your fellow FORTers who want to be spoiled, but don't breathe a word in that forum.
We have the same situation in Big Brother but with an even more reliable spoiler source, the live feeds. People camp out in the feeds forum and are routinely several days ahead of the televised show. It works very successfully, and it can work for the Bachelorette as well.
Re: Reality Steve discussion only **Spoilers**
If I can give another example, only because I was sooooooooo ticked off last season that it has virtually turned me off this season. As I posted in the spoiler thread, sleuthers spend an incredbile amount of time working on a season.
If I'm focused on sleuthing out a particular date, I've spent hours, locating a location, and I'm almost close, and RS comes out and says, the date was at the Disney Park. That's it, I shut down my puter and its over. As a sleuther, I don't want to know what he knows, because he has sources, I want to find out myself. Also, there have been times when RS said something, which sent sleuthers all over the map, where in fact it wasn't true.
If someone in the sleuthing thread mentions they have a source that said so and so went home, where in reality they got that info from RS, then that's their choice. They may have taken that name, and sleuthed it out further to get proof, before posting their findings.
Sleuthing is also accompanied with proof of some sort, realiable source, family member, co worker etc. Last season I discovered a sister of a particular person. I can't tell you the excitment of actually finding a real person and chatting with them about a particular person that had some association with the show.
I uncovered quite a few of the contestants, last season, all without RS, I don't read his blog, I don't go to his site, and I never read his RS thread last season.
Its amazing, its fun, you develop a wonderful relationship with all the sleuthers, you learn so much from their abilities, and the best part is watching epi after epi all unfold. You see the locations that were sleuthed out right on your TV, you know exactly who is going home and who stays, week after week and you have a sense of accomplishment because you worked so hard with so many others and it was all done without someone handing it to you on a silver platter.
There are seasoned sleuthers on this board who's skills are unmatched. I have learned so much from them, analyzing s/caps to editing to order out the limo.
Its really not difficult, and don't get discouraged. Just don't mention RS. If you want to sleuth, you can do it without RS, is more fun that way anyway IMO. :)
