I don't see that half way happening with his parents.

It's nothing like being at one's HTD. Nothing.

Disagree, you can learn something about someone in almost any given situation. You have just to use your 'smarts'. I can open my home to some people and still be able to hide what I feel should remain private particularly if I have reservations. With cameras ready to capture everything, I can decide to make things look wonderful, great even natural .... I can even choose the decor to match the look that I want presented .... Some people dated their sweethearts for years ... even since their high school days and never really got to know them .... I have heard of marriages between people who were together for years and then break up to become bitter enemies. So while it is great to see someone in his own turf, I will still say "beware" _ ever heard of the Trojan war? The greeks came bearing gifts ... What seems obvious often is not what it seems to be. Not all that glitters is gold, for that matter what looks like it may simply be a replica or an imitation. Ever heard of cubic zirconia? Looks like diamond but we know it isn't. And there's the Gold plated items ....

Re: Bachelorette 5**** Spoilers, episode 9 with screencaps

Seeing them in Hawaii is very romantic and beautiful. I think it plays more into the fantasy versus the reality of the situation.

Like or don't like Ed the show is invested in his storyline. It makes me uncomfortable knowing what a slime Fleiss is. They let him take conference calls, leave, miss HTD, come back, and now his family is being flown to Hawaii to surprise Jill. It just seems so planned out by Fleiss. Ed seems like the very obvious F1 choice to me. I wonder if he has the problem on Monday's show so show will try to plant some doubt. And I do think whoever has this problem stays.

good points, cherryyou...

in my opinion, each HTD location seemed stiff and staged...

hope Jill got a good look around.

We didn't get a really bad HTD this season...maybe this is it!

Certainly, meeting Ed's parents in Hawaii is better for Jill than not meeting them at all. However, the optimum situation would be to get as much of the whole picture as possible, which in Ed's case would probably have been seeing his current home in Chicago with his parents flown in. Second best would be meeting his parents where he grew up in Michigan. Hawaii is the third best option. Trying to portray it as anything else is somewhat disingenuous IMO.

am I the only one who does not like the edit Jilly's getting - I have started disliking the way she appears: she seems to be leading all the guys on and being very pushy and needy with getting them to talk about how they feel about her while at the same time knowing she'll hurt them. wouldn't someone like her who'd been through the process herself be more cautious about hurting people?

i thought this about Deanna with the graham situation as well

This season has inspired so many posters coming up with diff. scenarios. One of them probably hit the nail on the head. If only there was a prize for getting it right.

I am sure he does not live with his parents ... and since his parents are divorced, Meeting them in another place does not make it less advantageous than the HTD? In Reid's case, it certainly is, and maybe in Kip's as well. I understand that the mother has remarried and lives in another state ... and supposedly Ed is also a transplant in the Chicago area, so I don't know why it will be more advantageous meeting his parents in whatever place Ed decides to be his hometown. I certainly would want to meet the family ... be able to talk to them ... observe them so I can have a sense of where he is coming 'from'. Our family members often exhibit certain traits that are unique to the dynamic existing or operating in the family nucleus. I remember the 2 in 1 dates involving Mike and Mark. Jill chose Mark because unlike Mike who told her his 'opinions' and 'wishes' ... Mark discussed his experiences that made him who he is. Two very different scenarious _ I would enjoy hearing all the dreams, expectations and what-not but since these are all 'talk' - these may not mean as much. I want to know your experiences as a person ... or individual ... so i have an educated view of how I will handle or approach you and your uniqueness.

Of course, I am not totally dismissing or minimizing the importance of the HTD. Hey, it was great to meet that girl's family whose mother buried a dove: at least, i would not be surprised if something 'cuckoo' or 'out-of-ordinary' happens. As they put it "forewarned is forearmed". Anyway, what I am saying 'make the most of what you can get' .... I understand Jillian is quite an investigator/lawyer. I expect that she is quite good based on her choices ... In her work, she has to be. You don't proceed from just what you see or hear ... you try to 'see' beyond and beneath what is laid before your eyes or spoken. As to the Wes factor, sometimes the 'curiousity factor' gets the better of us ... and we go digging without thinking we may be digging our own grave. I am a 'minority' here, I didn't think she really 'bought' him but he really intrigued her. Jill's nose tells me she's plain stubborn ... and is wont to make her own decision.

You are not alone. She's supposedly the strong, fun, intelligent, independent woman that we fell in love with from Jason's season, but so far, TPTB has edited her as this "squealing, insecure, desperate for guys' declaration of love" girl, and IF she talks about guys' "bedroom problems" in front of millions of viewers Monday ...
TPTB has a few more episodes to redeem her edit/storyline, they'd better do it now!
