Re: Bachelorette 5**** Spoilers, episode 9 with screencaps

Interesting -- Tanner had said a couple of guys have girlfriends. . . could Ed be one of them? Hmmm. The job emergency was really the need to break up with the girlfriend. . . now that makes sense to me. . .

combine a g/f with the "talk" that Ed was "reportedly" saying Jillian isn't really his type (while back at home)certainly makes you wonder why TPTB were insistant he come back. Could it be so that noone would find out about G/F and what he was saying about the process of the show (thereby protecting the editing and ending of this season)

OR...do we believe that Ed had a "second coming" and realized Jillian was the girl of his dreams and needed to head on over there and lay it on the line?

naw...I have seen too many of these shows..been clued into how it really works and become a synic (of course I still watch and hold out that someone will buck the system and really fall for each other!)

Basically for 8 weeks she has relied and learned to trust and even become friends with the production people. In many cases they encourage certain thoughts and feelings and help quash others that are not desirable in order for her to meet their(TPTB's) goals.
Just something to consider.
She's put in an environment where she has no support system other than sharks and put there with a lack of sleep and no other stimulus other than thinking about these men--no radio, tv, magazines or phone. No family, no friends. Just production people and the men.
I thought she said in one interview that she was able to talk to her mom once each week. Does anyone else remember this?

Yes, agree completely. In addition to that I think we need to remember that everyone other than Ed has had to remain in the heightened, pressure-cooker atmosphere of the Bachelorette world; they have all breathed, eaten and slept the show during the time that he was off at home. Jillian continued sharing the bonding experience of being trapped in the Bachelorette bubble with the other guys---that bonding can't be underestimated. Everyone who has been on a past season and has spoken about their experience has said that it is intense. Being removed from that for a period of time changes the overall experience for everyone involved, IMO. Jillian had time to bond with all the other guys, even the ones she has since sent home, in a way that she didn't have with Ed. And she probably spent way more time with all of them than the little we're shown. The HTDs are also a very significant event, not just because the families get involved, but because of the experience of meeting people from the participant's real life. Even in Melissa's case, or in Amber's case (Andy Baldwin's season) where immediate family refused to come to the HTD the primary still got to meet either friends or, in Amber's case roommate and Aunt. They got to see how the person is in a setting familiar to them and away from the show. The remaining guys, including Ed, all got to see Jillian's home turf. She got to see parts of their lives off the show, either at their parent's homes or in the cities where they live (or both) with everyone except Ed.Even if Ed's family is flown out to Hawaii she will still not see him in his element or in his family home. That, to me, is a big deal. JMO, of course.

Re: Bachelorette 5**** Spoilers, episode 9 with screencaps

I think Jillian is keeping Wes and Ed around for her own reasons. She is certain she will choose either Reid or Kip. So, what she is looking for now is guys who are easy to let go for one reason or another. She wants to grill Wes and she knows she has an "out" with Ed. This is her reason for bringing these two men along. Jillian does not want to lead people on. She is not lacking in good judgement, she just feels it is better to hurt Wes or Ed than Michael or Jesse. JMO.

I agree with you smilingmomof3. I too believe that she will choose either Kip or Reid. I've read your other posts and you've always brought up good points. I do believe that Jillian does have a good head on her shoulders and will ultimately chose that one person that will be there for her in the long run.

I think you are right. She has repeatedly said she doesn't want to hurt anyone and you can tell she is genuine about that. She has been a very good bachlorette in my opinion and a joy to see slaying dragons just hope she does find a true prince!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha! It is interesting how we all see things differently.

I think that Jillian is keeping Wes because she is attracted to his bad boy persona, and I suspect there is a little bit of producer encouragement involved.

I believe that Kip is there in the role of "sacrificial lamb", i.e., F2.

It's between Reid and Ed right now. And I think Reid will be F3. Because of Reid's "can't pull the trigger" edit, because of how difficult it is for Jillian to let her F3 go, and because of the undeniable chemistry between Jillian and Ed. I think Ed will seal the deal when he flies his parents in (or TPTB fly them in) during his F3 date. Just a guess...but I think this is how he shows Jillian "just how serious he is".

I have seen quotes similar to yours but i believe Reid has always shown and told her how he feels- it is obvious to us in what we see; so given what we are not shown- she has to know
