Okay.....have to get this off my chest. Hope this is an okay place to post these thoughts. I am mostly a lurker and enjoy reading everyone's thoughts. I have watched the Bachelor/Bachelorette for many, many seasons. I have to say, I probably first got into the whole sleuthing thing during the Meredith/Ian season. Prior to their season, and probably during their season, I still refused to think that the story line was at all "scripted" or "manipulated." However, during that season, when finding out that Matt, and Meredith, for that matter, were models......I started to get the idea that those who go on the show do it for many other reasons, other than wanting to find love: publicity as a model; publicity as an actor; publicity as a nobody who wants to break into acting; publicity as a doctor who wants to be in show business; publicity for their doggie toiletries business or their snowboarding clothing line business.........(apparently even Jake is an actor.....albeit under a different "stage" last name).

I began to see that those who might talk about "fed story line" or "story manipulation" might be making sense. For some strange reason, I continue to watch.......and try to "suspend my disbelief" into believing that the whole point of the show is for one to find true love.....but then, am hit with things like "twists" and things we can't explain (like how one of the bachelors could leave mid-show and just decide to show up again and ASK to be put back in the next RC).

I am undecided as yet as to whether Jillian was involved in the story manipulations (Ed leaving; keeping Wes; Jake coming back), but I am totally suspect about anything happening in this show that is being "pawned off" as REALITY. Call me a cynic; call me jaded.....but think about it. When you really get down to it, isn't it pretty far from reality to expect that someone would go on this show.......and in a very limited number of weeks, with a very limited times to interact privately....and then probably not much away from the cameras......be expected to select someone to be engaged to????

Oh I am still watching.....and I still have my favorite bachelor, etc. But now, I am trying to watch more "between the lines" and look at things like looks of the eyes......subtle touches.......and genuine smiles. I think that is the only way to sift past all of the UNreality and try to get at something that might be REAL reality.

Interesting post - and in your opinion, what were the few real things you have observed?

FEW real things recently observed....in my opinion:

*the way Jillian showed sadness at Ed's leaving
*the way Jillian showed excitement at Ed's return
*the look in her eyes when she looked at Ed and her smile
*the way Ed subtley showed his excitement at being back
*the subtle way he touched her arm as they talked on the sofa after he came back

I do have to add that because of the way Ed said he had to leave.....and the kind of sheepish way he related why he was back.....I thought that he had been scripted for that whole "leave and return" thing to generate some angst in the viewers, since if they had let him stay, it probably would have been hard to cover the growing attraction between those two.

There are others....but that's the short list for now, IMHO.

I watched the Ed scene with anticipation and couldn't figure out if it was real emotion or that sheepish grin he had was "ha, I'm pulling a good one one you". I do think his face lit up when Jillian walked into the rose ceremony and that was another example of emotion.

I think Jillian was prepped for someone coming by but didn't know it would be Ed. Otherwise, too scripted. Guess that sensual kiss between Ed and Jillian in the coral top is from Hawaii. They must have experienced global warming during that date.

I hope this is the case because I can't see that Ed is truly into her.

I think the relationships with Reid and Kip have grown and now she has to stop and catch Ed up because he missed so much and I don't know if she feels like she can get Ed to the place that she is at with the other guys.
