Did he finish his work and then come back? What if the project was to go 3 weeks longer would he have decided to quit or resign to get her back? Did his employer approve him returning? She'd be crazy not to have a long and serious talk about what comes first in his life from here on out before deciding on a future with him. In a relationship and ultimately a marriage family needs to come first.
Very well said! That is true if one wants a happy marriage and family life. It very important to Jillian as she says "I am a family person, it's important to me". If she is really looking to find her life mate through this process she must and will question whether he will bail out on her with another reason at another time when the going gets tough down the road. It's important for her to question issues that are priorities in her life so she can make an informed decision.

In the first episodes, he was there but he seemed to be more of an observer. In fact, in one of the 'behind-the-scenes' shots, he and Jake were asked of his feelings about Kip 'sucking face' (i think this was Mike's description) with Jillian and his answer was reflective of his mindset then. He opined that Jillian would have to do what she has to do to know what she wants. This was the Ed in the process of finding his own connection with Jillian. That scene with Jillian where he asked to be taken back, that was the new Ed _ the one who knew his heart's desire .... He came back in response to his heart's desire so I expect him to actively pursue Jillian and to ask boldly for her hand in marriage. Ed is not Reid who, to use Jake's words is 'flimsy' (i assume Jake attributed that description to him as the camera panned immediately to him when Jake uttered that word.), nor is he like Kip who seems to be just quietly assessing his chances with Jill. He also does not mince words ... when asked if he had questions for him, he immediately said he wanted to know if he would get the rose (one-on-one date). He simply did not plead with her to have him back, he said "I want another shot ... you should let me come back". This guy is pretty straightforward ... very businesslike too ... I had a chuckle when he asked Jillian to "Have a seat" which sounded very dominant . His comment about "it's not about good but thinking you are good" another revealing trait. This man has a very healthy concept of who he is and what he is about.

Based on the previews, I have a nagging feeling Jillian opted for a very unusual ending .... Hopefully not 'too low-key' as to disappoint the romantic in us.
That is editing to make some posters doubt Reid's character..........I guess posters that don't really see the connection that Reid and Jill have will doubt it. On the other hand, it is hard to see a connection between Jill and Ed, just because some posters say that there is a connection. Maybe I am wrong on this one, but that is my opinion.

Re: Bachelorette 5**** Spoilers, episode 8 with screencaps

I've always thought Ed and show both knew he'd leave and when. He knew he had to be back for something work related and plans were made that Ed left at that time with the option to come back if Ed was interested and then it would be up to Jill to decide. I don't think Jill was shocked to see Ed back. I don't think she knew he would be leaving but I do think she knew he'd return. Even if you don't sleuth when he kept the rose that was a huge hint. lol

With all three of the F3 guys having some kind of doubt in their storyline I think that the viewers will be led to believe that "true love" was worth all of the bumps in the road no matter who she picks. I don't see where one guy over the others would have more of an "edge" (I guess you could call it) as far as the doubts go.

Him coming back was romantic to a lot of people. I doubt we're going to see them allowing this to happen every show but this time there seems to be a good reason for it.
But as Jill put it, she was starting to care for Ed but in no means was she falling in love with him. Us the viewer missed seeing him for 2 weeks when all was said and done, he had very little interaction between his fans and Jill on the HTD epi as he missed his HTD.........which I for one feel suspicious of the timing of him leaving and returning..........but he also missed a lot of connection time with Jill during that time. Connection time that he might not get a chance to re-connect with her as there isn't much time left in the show.

I don't understand the precedent comments as it relates to Jillian picking Ed. I can see that tptb may have set a precedent by allowing Ed to take part in work calls and leave/come back but what does that have to do with Jillian picking him as her f1? She will chose the guy she feels the greatest connection to and (hopefully) has fallen in love with. If that ends up being Ed than what most people will come away with is that love is worth fighting for even with a bump or two along the way.
I believe after reading the post from sdl that this show was worked over with screen writers writing the script, I'd say Jillian didn't have a choice or even a say in it. She may not have been privy to much of the information bec' the PTB would want to capture her shock and natural reaction to the event but the script may have dictated that she invite him to the RC and give him a rose. I felt the return scene was staged and scripted and came off poorly on the show. Jillian might not even realize the extent to which she may have been manipulated on this show by producers this season.

I agree. If TPTB have a say so in who gets kept at each RC up to a certain point, Jillian may have had no say in giving Ed a rose when he came back. We won't know the truth until a year or so from now if Jillian decides to tell us the truth.

Editing works on Kip and Ed too. The editing is not just limited to Reid. Any connections we see/don't see could be edited. We may see a connection that was built up to look more or vice versa. So maybe the reason you don't see the connection with Ed may have been editied out too. Or what you are seein with Reid may be built up too. Same with any of them men.

I agree. I think all have a legit shot and there has been good and bad about all. Will she go for the bad boy? Will she take a chance on the guy who has always been heartbreaker not heartbroken? Will she go with the quirky guy most like her? Will she go with the quiet conservative who left and comes back? I like they we don't know. It's much more fun to watch and speculate.

I can't remember specifically when in the HTD episode she said this, but she said that she was just about ready to pack the whole thing in (paraphrase). She may have had limited knowledge about situations, but they did need to capture her true emotions. She admits she is a terrible actor - and we saw that with the Ed return scene. You know, the season may have been described by TPTB as a disaster, but they have written a pretty good script that casts reasonable doubt on each of the F3. They each clearly have something to overcome.
