I asked coastalbc about the other 1 on 1 date (we know of the gondala date) in episode six and she said:

Interesting. Makes a bit more sense as to why he shows up in Hawaii, if there was a death in the family. Although I don't ever wish someone to suffer a loss like that.

A glacier date at Whistler would be very different than at the Icefields Parkway closer to Banff.

You're right. The Icefields Parkway is solid frozen ice that you walk on and you go up there on this massive truck-like thing that reminds me of a zamboni (the machine that cleans the ice in hockey). The truck has wheels the size of a smart car, lol and you basically just walk around and take in the view. It's very impressive but I don't think there is soft, fluffy snow you can make snow angels in.

This is true, however, they usually show those things in the place where they grew up so that they can meet the family after. As far as I know Wes family does not live in Austin. So either Wes had his family come to Austin to meet Jillian or he decides that she doesn't really need to meet them.

Here is a picture of the Icefields from my trip last spring. It is all ice, there is really no snow to make snow angels around there. The glaciers at Whistler have quite a bit of snow. When we were there in April, we had 12 inches of snow in one night.
