Bachelorette 5 - Media Spoilers

After reading so many posts following the revelation of Ed being F1, I've been completely lost with the whole season and any "point" to it. As some have suggested, maybe Reid is being set up like Jason as next season's alternative for Kiptyn, Jake and Michael as the new Bachelor? Or maybe we are all being deceived by the leaks. Not to discount the credibility of anybody, but are the producers this casual about letting AFRC information out?
Even the intro recap on "Men Tell All" is odd... as if preparing us for Reid proposing to Jillian in the end.

CH: Reid wasn't ready to commit.
Jillian to Reid: I really want you to think if you're ready to propose at the end of this...
Reid: Maybe.

CH: Ed had trouble in the Fantasy Suite.
Ed: Very nervous. It just didn't happen.

CH: And at the rose ceremony, Jillian made a decision that broke her heart.
Cue in clip of Reid being in love with her and her not knowing...

Maybe they really want to create some sort of Reality TV Tragedy?

JBF re:bolded... that thought has crossed my mind as well, both yesterday and today. TPTB seemed to go to unusual lengths this season to keep things "hidden" (ie stingy with sc, sometimes very ambiguous wording in descriptions, mixed messages interviews) all seemingly IMHO moreso than previous seasons.

I'd be very interested in hearing your thoughts/theories, even if only hypothetical, of how they might be able to pull off one more final "twist" or alternative ending, other than what was leaked from the taping of the ATFR. TIA

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but here is a new article on people.com as to the potential of both finalists (Ed and Kiptyn) and why Jillian didn't pick Reid. I think TPTB are trying to do some spin control in anticipation of the finale.

Funny....it's been almost 2 weeks an Jillian/TPTB are still trying to address why she let Reid go? I think they really underestimated the fan base on this one and agree.....this is all about damage control.

I guess from tipsters that the rushed start to this program plus j m m debacle who was to be the bachelorette messed everything up. They tried to come up with story lines to make a story. What we see is that the quick start wrecked it. You long time watchers saw it.

I'm starting to agree with many people. Jillian doesn't know what she wants. Her line of thinking completely contradicts her actions. I also feel like she's in a sense blaming Reid. Yes, I get that it's hard for him to open up. Even he blamed himself. But she also has led him on. How many times did she ask for him to say "I love you". She said everything else was there for them except him being able to verbalize his feelings. He's coming back with a ring and most likely a major commitment along with that . I think Jillian needs to take some responsibility for leading him on. I'm actually glad Reid isn't tied down her. He deserves so much better at this point.

ITA. She comes across as an intelligent and confident person yet she is insecure in many ways. Reid and Kip came from great families with good values. I believe their HTDs were a homerun. She talks a good game in that environment. The flip side is that she is scared. She does not come from this type of environment and brings herself down to a "hick". Perhaps at times she felt intimidated around them and their lifestyle. She likes to drink beer around a campfire...not living in a country club surrounding.

Can someone on the East Coast post if there's a new and different preview tonight on ABC? I'm not sure I can take watching Extreme Makeover and another re-run of Brothers and Sisters just for the commercials unless there's a good reason. Thanks.

I've been recording ABC for 3 hours every night for the past week but never watch it either. I just FF to check out the commercials. I'll let you know.

She can't because then everyone will know that she doesn't pick him (even though since the spoiler leaked, everyone already knows).

I doubt Jillian "led" Reid on. I'm sure that's why she let him go at the F3. He seems like a sensitive person and it was best to let him go before Kip, who I believe is a very strong person. IMO, Ed was her choice for a while. Don't blame Jillian becase Reid comes back, blame the higher ups.
And like someone else said, Inless I see pics of Ed with his tongue down a chicks throat while he was away, I'll be on his side.
I'm pretty new to this place and I really am not liking the anger and hate for Jillian and Ed coming from some people here. It's her choice, not ours. Sorry but she cose Ed and not St. Reid. Time to move on.IMO.

I noticed that she made sure to emphasize how "funny" Ed is. As Reid would say, "interesting..."
