(iF Reid didn't want to purse things further). Remember that Reid is an analytical type who needs time to digest things before moving forward, whereas both Ed and Kip both "entertained" her questions about marriage, kids, etc. So Ed and Kip were a "safer" bet.

When Reid was sent home at F3, I believe he stayed in Hawaii. I am sure TB knew Reid's feelings and suggested he should stay so he could think about Jillian and perhaps change his mind -- TB wanted Reid to come back and propose and gave him every opportunity to do so.

At the time of the FRC, Jillian knew she made a mistake letting Reid go home, and Reid knew he made a mistake in not opening up to Jillian.

Reid realized that if he wanted Jillian, he would have to take a chance and try to sweep her off her feet.

Now, there is some speculation that Reid comes back BEFORE the FRC thus, causing her to ask TB for more time to think about things. Who knows.
I could definitely see Reid coming back before the FRC...Then at the FRC, she rejects Kip and Ed... the shows seems likes it's ending, the viewing audience doesn't know what's happening, Jillian walks back out to the podium and out comes Reid where she either accepts his proposal or they decide to date.

I won't quote the whole thing because you can refer to post # 10110 in this thread written by blasie.
But in my humble opinion, that's the most credible, well-thought out, and accurate view of what went on behind the scenes.
Of course, we'll never have proof to substantiate it all, but when you stop and think about it, at least to me, it makes so much sense.
And because it was so simple...and so close to similar scenarios that happen in everyday life, it couldn't be shown as is.....not enough drama.
Too bad.....I think a lot of viewers would've enjoyed a little lest "twists and turns" and a little more "reality"....
But then, maybe that's just me......who believes that"less is more".....

His conversation about other guys maybe getting the "weird card", etc.. were so true to life, IMO. The conversations she has had with the others have been more "scripted" like. Not that they were actually scripted, but it seems as though she asked questions that she thought she should, and they gave her answers that they thought she would like. Kiptyn may have been more realistic in his answers, but still they seemed to follow the story line. Reid is the only one that you seem to get very unexpected things from - so real. And his emotions and reactions are what you would see in a real dating situation.

I liken Reid and Jillian's conversations to Tom Hanks and his girlfriend in "Big". No games or role-playing, just honest conversation which is so refreshing compared to what we usually get on this show.

Thanks......Your last paragraph hit on the point that Jillian has stated about herself...she has no filter. It appears that Reid doesn't have one as well. I would love it if these two gave it a shot in the real world because I think they have realistic expectations.

The other take ....."Hot Girl meets Hot Guy, no eye contact lots of groping and prolonged open mouth kissing, ridiculously awkward conversations, HG leaping into HGuy's arms with obligatory wrapping of HG's legs around HGuy's waist at every encounter." TPTB can edit in the right amount of squeals later depending on the order of elimination. This scenario has all the makings of a 30 second TV commercial for E.D. medication and a life span comparable to one dose of a little blue pill.

Then we see the interactions of Reid and Jillian...flirty, vulnerable. tender, constantly referring to conversations to which the viewer is not privy. I would love to see that footage, but this is their relationship, not mine. Many of us are wired to want what we can't have and this situation is no different. It can be compared to an auction where a bidder has to know his limit. One cannot promise more than he can deliver. Reid cannot suspend his disbelief, if anything it intensifies because of the over-night dates. His reaction is to withdraw rather than put himself out there and step-up the competition. It may indicate that he is at best, monogamous or at worst, possessive.

If he leaves and comes back, as his brother is quoted as saying, it shows that he has gotten some perspective on the situation.

Did Ed get perspective when he left? His whole demeanor reminds me of my sons, who when growing up, would try to keep me from finding out what it was that they were actually up to. Their agendas were not in line with mine but they wanted something from me and would manipulate me with half-truths so that I would give my approval.

As for Kip, he seems like a sweet guy, but too low key. He is a good athlete and a good sport, but his emotional range has been a flat line throughout.

Relationships are tough....I guess that's why so many want to see an ideal one on this show. If you can't have one in your own life then you want one vicariously from TB.
I completely concur with your assessment of the 3 men.

I just don't think Fleiss seems to have Jillian's best interests at heart (I know that's an oxymoron anyway) this season. There's been too much unsettling of and toying with her, me thinks, for her story to resolve neatly at the end. He's made her cry--more than not--and those tears have just dissolved into more tears. I think he may be going for a tearjerker.

However, the "classic" romance formula of trials and tribulations resolved, finally, by love, would make for a refreshing reversal of these past many seasons. Wouldn't that be a kick? I'm sure a majority of viewers would love that. But was that the story Fleiss produced?

It's not too late....they haven't shot the AFTR, have they. But if the voting is set up as it is on AI all those delusional fans from JU may tip the balance. What are they thinking???

Like most people on here, I have considered several scenarios, but one I have wondered about recently is this:

Reid actually comes to see her prior to FRC, whether he proposes then or just expresses his feelings to her. However, the viewers don't actually see this interaction prior to FRC. Then at FRC, both Kip & Ed are released. The viewer thinks she has done a "Brad" and will end up with no one. Then the viewer sees a flashback to Reid's visit to her in the last "5 minutes" of the show. This is the "twist" and the "whole season makes sense".

There can be many variations on how this plays out; i.e., when the proposal actually takes place - when he first goes to see her vs. at the FRC after Kip/Ed are gone; maybe he doesn't propose at all; maybe there is a cliffhanger and the resolution is revealed at ATFR.

If Reid goes home tonight, I'd say this theory is bingo!

thing is, he doesn't actually leave - no way did he leave the island and fly back to realize Jillian shouldn't have rejected him (isn't that a contradiction itself?).....if this scenario plays out, he was put in a room with a bed and toilet until he caved to producer pressure.

but even if he doesn't leave the island, he's faced with "it's over with jillian" and maybe realizes he can't imagine just letting it end there
