Re: Behind the Edit **SPOILERS**

EPISODE FIVE TRANSCRIPT: PART TWO

AT THE BREAKFAST TABLE:
DeAnna joins the guys while they’re eating breakfast. She’s wearing a yellow tank with a brown tank underneath and a wide headband.

DEANNA VO: Good morning!
TWILLEY: Yo!
DEANNA: How are you all?
DEANNA PI: Half of these guys have been cooped up in the Outhouse the entire time they’ve been here (hugs Jesse), so today is the time for them to let loose and get wild.
At the table she sits between Jeremy and Jesse. Twilley is opposite her and Jason is next to Jesse. Looks like Sean is just walking into the shot. No sign of Graham.
DEANNA: How’s (Jason) Palm Springs? You feeling alright? (She says that to Twilley.)
TWILLEY: Yeah. I feel great I am ready to go. What are we doing?
DEANNA: I dunno. (Twilley laughs. Shot of a helicopter.)
JESSE VO: If that helicopter lands right here I am gonna freak out. (D laughs.)
JESSE: For real though (Jesse, Jeremy).
The helicopter is moving in.
DEANNA: Looks like our ride’s here. (Helicopter lands on the lawn. The guys are all excited.)
VO SOMEONE: Oh my god.
JESSE: Yes! (Jesse, Jason)
JESSE: So rad. Are you kidding me? (He hugs D and makes a growling noise. Jason is watching the hug, Jeremy’s watching the chopper.)

Note: Okay. I warned him last week. The dude said “rad.” (Insert Uzi emote)

If he keeps it up it will be no more Ms. Nice Chick.

VO SOMEONE: Oh my god.
DEANNA TO THE GUYS: Twilley and I are gonna go. You guys are gonna wait (Jesse, Jason). Your helicopter will be here shortly to pick you up.
VO (sounds like Jesse): Seriously?
DEANNA: Yeah. (Jesse throws up his hands. Jason is to his left, Jeremy to his right, and Sean behind him.)
VO SOMEONE: You’re serious? Oh, man…
The guys are disgruntled watching D go off hand-in-hand with Twilley. (Geez. Cut Twilley some slack why dontcha. He’s seen D, what, twice in four weeks?)

AT THE HELICOPTER:
TWILLEY TO D: So how do I open a door for a girl on a helicopter?

Note: A Helicopter for Dummies book may have proven invaluable in this situation.

DEANNA: Umm, I dunno.
Twilley tries to open the door.
TWILLEY: Let’s see if I can figure it out.

The frenetic five watch and mock. Guess who instigates?
JESSE: Watch it. Twilley’s gonna break it. He’s gonna break it. (Graham’s enjoying the mockery a little too much.)
TWILLEY: That’s not how you do it.
GRAHAM TO GUYS: Why are you laughing? You guys got left. (Funny this. He says “you guys” and not “we.”)
TWILLEY: Ah, there it is. (He gets the door open.)
DEANNA: Oh yeah. There we go.
TWILLEY PI/VO: The last chance I got talk to DeAnna. The last time we had any one-on-one time, I kinda expressed a lot of concerns I had about finding a connection with her and not having enough time to do that, and she told me to hang in there.

IN THE HELICOPTER:
DEANNA: Now we get some time together.
TWILLEY: Yeah, it’s always when we are traveling.
DEANNA: I know.
(Shot of the guys yelling. Graham, Jeremy, Jason are sitting on the wall. Jason has his arms up in the air. Sean is behind the wall not clapping like the rest. The chopper takes off. Twilley and D inside. She’s a bit hunched over. His arm is on the back of her seat.)

THE BON VOYAGE COMMITTEE:
JESSE: I am not gonna lie, I kinda wish I was in that helicopter with her right now.
GRAHAM: Yeah, that would be nice.
GRAHAM PI: I am gonna go out on a limb and say that the helicopter ride between Twilley and Deanna is gonna be awful because Twilley gets really bad motion sickness and a helicopter is not going to be the easiest place to be intimate and romantic with a girl that you have been wanting one-on-one time with for a very long time.

Note: Graham the prognosticator is back in action. Last week he commented that the 2-1 date was going to be miserable. Now he’s calling Twilley’s 1-1 time awful. What up? Oh, and Graham honey… being intimate in the chopper was no problem for D and Jason. Also, in this PI he looks to be in a black suit and purple tie and clearly he’s had a haircut.

INSIDE THE HELICOPTER:
Twilley rubs his stomach indicating potential yakkage.
DEANNA: Are you okay?
TWILLEY: Yeah, I’ll be alright.
DEANNA: Oh god. Oh god…
TWILLEY: No. Don’t worry.
DEANNA: Tell the helicopter to hurry.
(Shot inside the second chopper. The guys are laughing. Jason’s sitting between Graham and Jesse.)
TWILLEY: Whoa.
DEANNA: In through the nose out through the mouth Twilley.

Note: The guy finally gets alone time. His big shining moment. And he’s gonna hurl all over the girl of his dreams. The irony is inescapable.

IN THE GUY CHOPPER:
JESSE: He is either getting sick or doing something real dumb. (Do you get the feeling that Twilley can’t catch a break with ANYONE?)

INSIDE THE HELICOPTER:
DEANNA VO: Are you okay?
TWILLEY VO: Yeah, I am alright.
DEANNA: You’re making me nervous.
TWILLEY: Nah, nah. I’m fine. Its my ears. There’s a balance issue.
DEANNA PI: The helicopter ride was good up until Twilley started getting motion sickness, and I was afraid he was going to puke on my lap (giggles), but other than that it was great.

Note: In this PI she’s wearing the green hoodie she’s later wearing with Graham in the hammock. And has her sunglasses on her head.

The helicopter lands and Twilley attempts to open the door.
TWILLEY: Well, I’m doing something wrong here. (Poor Twilley is such a goner…)
TWILLEY PI/VO: I really think someone wants me to throw up on DeAnna, and that’s like this big conspiracy that’s going on. (He and D wrestle with the door, and I swear it just hit me that Keystone Cop-like music is playing in the bg.)

IN THE DESERT:
Twilley and D finally escape from the evil clutches of the helicopter. (Insert Airwolf emote. Ha! Anyone else gonna admit to watching that or is it just me?)
DeAnna: Ahhhh.
TWILLEY PI: Alright, we were in the middle of the desert. I thought we might be looking for Jimmy Hoffa’s body (shot of them walking. Next to D from left to right are Jesse, Jason, Twilley. Graham is close behind her) or, you know, maybe there was like some hidden treasure she knew about. And then, all of a sudden (same shot only this time D is walking between Jason and Jesse, with Graham next to Jason and Twilley slightly ahead of Jesse. Jason moved to be next to D), we’re going four-wheeling.

Note:Jason’s got some strategic moves.

GUYS: Laughs and hoots. (Jesse chest bumps Graham.)
DEANNA VO: Thanks, Jesse. (Jesse is helping her with her gear.)
JESSE PI/VO: DeAnna always said: “Yeah, I’m always down to getting dirty. But when she stepped up today and we’re like in a sandstorm with 50 mph winds with a smile on her face. That was hot.
DEANNA: (The group huddles.) Wanna see how it’s done?
DEANNA: Alright. Lets go!
They start their engines and takes off.

JASON VO/PI: We took off on the ATV’s and DeAnna was kicking our butts, and I mean she had no fear. You could tell DeAnna was in her element.
DEANNA PI/VO: Riding four-wheelers is a part of my life. This is what we do back home. I am hoping that the guys just cut loose. Jesse is definitely having the most fun on the ATV’s today. (In this PI she’s wearing the same yellow outfit and headband.)
JESSE VO/PI: I was showing off a little bit to DeAnna today, teaching her how to do wheelies. (He does a wheelie and crashes and burns.)
DEANNA VO: You okay?
JESSE: I’m good.
JESSE: It’s all me, dawg. (He makes the square motion around his face. Is wearing the busy white and black jacket and matching hat.

Note: Big red flag here. Statements like that usually add up, and you always have to wonder why they’re included. Plus this was a clear splice. Could’ve come from anywhere. The fact that he’s symbolically boxing himself in is interesting. Will his outside the box thinking work on D or will he be shipped of to plane?

BACK AT THE VILLA:
Sean and Jeremy are at the villa. Sean is holding a date card.
SEAN VO: Uh oh.
JEREMY: Alright, man.
SEAN: Do you want this? Interesting…
JEREMY: Uh oh.
SEAN: (pretends to read the card) “Sean, lets have a great night on the town.” Sorry, man! (Jeremy laughs.)
Sean actually reads the date card: “Jeremy, Lets take a step back in time… with Old Blue Eyes. Love, DeAnna”
JEREMY PI: Tonight on the one-on-one I am hoping DeAnna really opens up to me. I wanna feel that I am the type of guy that she’s really looking for.

Note: Red flag for Jeremy. What’s curious is his saying that he wants D to open up to him. He’s clearly opened up to her. If D hasn’t opened up to him then it sounds like she’s been guarded around him. This reinforces the notion that she has Jeremy in her pocket and could just be keeping him around as a safety net, and not as the F1. Even more curious is D’s PI before the date where she’s hoping that he’ll open up! So are they both guarded? How much have they really opened up? In the PI he’s wearing a brown suit and pinkish or white collared shirt.

JEREMY: Sounds like its gonna be quite a romantic evening.
SEAN: I dunno man its gonna be tough to beat on a mountain top with a little dinner. (Dude… you had your chance. And in lest you forget… you got a three-quarter moon with black clouds passing over it and the sun went behind your mountain.)
JEREMY: I’ll just have to bring her better company. (They laugh)

BACK AT THE DESERT:
DEANNA PI/VO: The four-wheeling ride was so much fun. It was funny to see what guys were keeping up with me and what guys were tailing behind (shot of five ATVs and one lagging behind). Twilley was in his own little world on the four-wheeler, just playing by himself… all day. Jason took it kinda easy—he’s just very straight-laced—he just rode it one straight way.

Note: By definition, straight-laced means living by a strict moral code. That really doesn’t accurately reflect Jason’s driving in a straight line. But it was said nonetheless, so it has to be flagged. It could have some underlying meaning.

DEANNA VO: Oh Jesse. Oh oh! (More Meg Ryan deli noises.)

Note: Another way to look at the straight-laced comment is that Jason is on the straight and narrow. Jesse, by contrast, was all over the place. If that equates to their ultimate edits this could be set-up for a final showdown of SafeBet vs. Wildcard. In the PI, D is wearing the same green hoodie and sunglasses on her head.

DEANNA PI/VO continued: I found Jesse so attractive because he wasn’t scared. Like, he manhandled that four-wheeler. (Same green hoodie and sunglasses.)
DEANNA VO: Today was almost like the first day that I thought he was just hot.
DEANNA PI: (green hoodie and glasses) The more that I get to know him, the more that I like him.

Note: Interesting sequence and red flag for Jesse. The VO was clearly cut in. D’s voice inflection sounds different to me. So now Jesse has the distinction of being “hot,” a word as yet reserved for Graham. But when did/does she really say it?

D rolls her ATV up to the guys.
DEANNA VO: Hey, um, this is fun, but what do you say we go back and cool off?
GRAHAM VO: Sounds good.
Graham’s ATV won’t start and the others take off.
GRAHAM VO: C’mon man. Seriously. Lets go. C’mon…

Note: I daresay, this is a money shot for Graham. He’s set apart from the others, which mirrors his edit in regard to chemistry with D and Jason calling him a “sure bet.” In that way it could be lean toward the positive. On the flipside, he’s stalled out and getting left in the dust. If this is compared to his tumultuous edit of the first four eps, this could be a harbinger of doom for AbMan.

PROMO BEFORE BREAK:
CH VO: Up next… (laughter as the guys and D jump into the pool.)
CH VO: … it’s all fun and games until Graham steals DeAnna (shot of he and D kissing in the hammock. Funny shot. Looks like he’s pushing his head in order to kiss her).

Note: Steals her heart? Steals her from the other guys? Steals the show? Does the theft make him a villain?

JASON VO: I’m sorry, do you really not see the connection between Graham and Deanna? (Jason talking to Twilley.)
TWILLEY: Okay, so you’re saying Graham is a sure bet?
JASON: Graham is a sure bet. She doesn’t have that connection that she’s got with Graham (another hammock kissy face shot with both smiling big) with anybody.

Note: Red flag. Again, Jason taking note of the Graham/D connection. Funny him calling Graham the sure bet. One could argue that Jason is the sure bet. The even odds stable bet. This has to come to a head. With Graham it’s all or nothing.

CH VO: And then… (guys entering the mansion. Jesse first, then Sean, Jeremy, Twilley, Jason, and Graham bring up the rear.)
SEAN: Hello? Where’s she at?
CH VO: Something goes very wrong at the cocktail party.
SEAN VO: It seems a little odd with her not greeting us.
TWILLEY VO: You think she’s just not ready? (shot of Jason, concerned)
JESSE VO: How does that work? (Interesting shot. Jesse is saying that to Jason, with Graham standing nearby.) Every time we roll in (Jeremy) she’s sitting on the couch (extended shot of Sean. The wheels are turning… I really need a dead.man.walking emote.)

POOL PARTY:
Shot of four palm trees, hummingbird feeding at a red flower, sounds like Twilley yelling as they all run and jump into the pool. (Four palm trees for the F4. One hummingbird for the F1?)

GRAHAM VO/PI: The pool party, you know, it ran with the (D emerging from water; shot of Graham smiling) constant theme of the day, it was just light and fun and we did some, some very childish contests (shot of Jesse and Jason having a chicken fight) and games and just tried to play around because it’s been really tense. (Really, AbMan? We hadn’t noticed. Insert tearing my hair out emote)

Note: The last chicken fight we saw was D and Jason fighting, with D atop Jesse’s shoulders. This time it’s Jason and Jesse fighting. Red flag.

JASON VO/PI: You know, I feel the pressure when I’m around the rest of the guys. I can get lost in the shuffle a little bit (D smiling) so I need to make sure that I am sticking my neck out more than I’m comfortable doing. (Shot of Jesse lifting D up and jumping into the pool.)

Note: Interesting contrast. Jason saying he has to stick his neck out (strait-laced?) and Jesse being wild and picking D up. They’re building a subtle dichotomy/competition between these two. Angel/Devil, Stable/Wild. Something’s afoot. Red flag for both of them.

Note: In the above PI, Jason looks to be wearing his suit from the RC.

SEAN: That sounded like it hurt.
JESSE: Oh my god.
DEANNA VO: Today was a fun day, but I really wanted to be sure of the decisions I make before I go visit peoples hometowns. I had some serious things that I wanted to talk to about with these guys. I had this connection with Jason and I know that Jason has a child. But I’ve only been able to be around Jason. (Jason with his arm around D walking poolside).
DEANNA PI: I need to find out what it’s gonna to be like for Jason, Ty, and myself. (The PI is clearly from elsewhere. D’s wearing a dark purple spaghetti strap dress. Has to be further down the line.)

Note: Okay. There’s a lot of tricky chop in the above sequence. Tenses are funky. D “had” this connection with Jason. Not “have.” In the PI she says: “What it’s going to be like…” When I first heard that I thought. Dayum. Freudian slip. She didn’t say “what it might be like,” or “what it could be like.” She said “going to be like.” Very interesting wording, that. Red flag.

ONE-ON-ONE TIME WITH JASON:
They’re sitting side-by-side on loungers. There seems to be a certain comfort level between them.
DEANNA: So obviously next week it goes down to four people, you know, and we go to hometowns. So what like what would it be like at your hometown in Seattle?

Note: There’s a seriously bad edit cut right here before Jason delivers the next lines. Had to be from later in the convo. Under the category of stupid observations: Jason’s swim trunks have this huge circle on them. It looks like a target.

JASON: I mean it’s really a wonderful place and one thing you said to me, you thought Seattle’s a place where people fall in love. If that’s true I’d love to find out. (Smooth sales pitch there Mr. Perfect. Waaaay smoother than Jesse. Red flag. One point for Jason.)

Note from Shrtswt2thpt: Right where I stopped the video Dee has the biggest toothiest grin I have seen on her!

Note from my SO: “Jesse needs to take lessons from this guy. He didn’t beg for the rose. He played the Sleepless in Seattle card—clever boy.”

Note from Me: Dayum. Who knew Jason was that built?

DEANNA: (laughing) Oh that’s good. What about your family? Who would I meet?
JASON: Um, you would meet my dad, my mom, and then Ty (big smile from D). I think it would just be the time just to have fun with Ty. You know… play, just to see what it feels like. I think it would be fun for you guys to meet each other. (The hummingbird whizzes past D.)
DEANNA: Me too. (Close on them holding hands. D is stroking his fingers.)
JASON VO: Deanna would definitely fit into my family. I think she is someone Ty would love. I think she is someone my mom would love.
JASON PI: (wearing beige tie-dye shirt) Deanna coming to Seattle is different, I think, than the rest of the guys because she’s gonna come and meet somebody that’s really truly part of me.
JASON: Are you concerned about meeting my family?
DEANNA: I just want to know what it would be like, you know. Its always kinda scary meeting people’s families. You know?
JASON: My mom is as sweet as can be. I think I am more like my mom than anybody in my family.
DEANNA: Really?
JASON: Yeah. My mom and I come from the same mold. She’s got the ability to love more than anybody else that I’ve ever met. She knows how to show how she loves. She knows how to do it. And I’ve learned that from her.

HOLY HUNKAGE BATMAN! The edit’s really not showing much downside to Jason. Does he secretly wear a thong and moonlight as a mime? (I digress… Dede: Take your best shot.)

DEANNA VO: Jason is a very sweet and caring guy. I am attracted to him. I think he is a great person.
DEANNA PI: He has all the qualities that I look for in someone I want to be my husband.

Note: Again, a different outfit. Sequined little black dress. Potential red flag though for Jason. D basically said as much about Richard and Fred.)

Jesse approaches them for convo-interruptus.
JASON: Here comes Jesse. Turn around. (D turns to look.)
JESSE: I’ve come to swoop her away.
DEANNA TO JASON: Thank you.
She and Jason kiss and hug as Jesse holds on to her outstretched had.

Note: MAJOR MONEY SHOT. A classic tug of war scene. Is she holding on to the stable object but lured away by the thought of adventure? There hasn’t been another shot like this that I can remember. [/b]

JESSE: Sorry. (Jason hesitates.)
JESSE TO D: I hope you like watermelon.
JASON: Thanks for being THAT guy.
JESSE: Anytime.
They intentionally cut most of D out of the shot of her and Jesse leaving. It’s hard to tell if she’s looking back at Jason, but in slo-mo her head appeared to be turned back to Jason as she was walking away.
JASON: Bye, DeAnna. (Jason waves.)

Note: This sequence and the Jesse interaction is one big huge honkin’ red flag. The tug of war shot is big, but then there’s also Jason’s line about Jesse being “that” guy. Also a big foreshadow. The guy who ultimately gets D’s heart? The guy who breaks it? The guy who’s the last one standing in Jason’s way? Jesse was almost cocky in his approach. And Jason saying goodbye to D is also another big red flag. This entire sequence from the time she starts talking to Jason to when Jesse takes her is LOADED.[/b]

ONE-ON-ONE TIME WITH JESSE:
Note the cuts and change of tenses in the following sequence:

DEANNA VO: I like Jason a lot.
DEANNA PI: (green hoodie with glasses on her head) Something about Jesse hit me today. Like I was just sick about him.
DEANNA VO: Jesse was the guy that I had the least physical connection with. I am hoping that Jesse will kiss me.
DEANNA TO JESSE: I was quite attracted today with you on the four-wheelers cause you kept up with me and you were not like, you were just crazy on them, you know? You didn’t hold back, and I like that. I like that a lot. (They’re holding hands under the table. Why under the table. Why not be above board?)

SOMEBODY PLEASE SHOOT ME. NOW SHE’S TALKING LIKE, YOU KNOW, LIKE, JESSE.

JESSE: Good. Good.
JESSE TO D: I think that that’s so sexy. A girl can be beautiful but at the same time hold her own. So uh and I… uh, I really haven’t tapped into any sort of experiencing someone like that till I met you.

Note: There is a serious chemistry build here on D’s side. She’s flashing a big “I wanna kiss you smile.” And Jesse’s just gearing up for the next rose sales pitch.

RUNS FROM ROOM SCREAMING.

Note: I’m by no means a body language expert, but I’m just not seeing the chemistry here. D was ready to go and Jesse didn’t take the hint. She had the big smiles, the body contact, leaned forward. She was rubbing his hand and arm, but he looked at this arm like there was a mosquito on it. She gave him every opportunity that any of the other guys would’ve easily taken, and he just preps for the sales pitch. This just doesn’t bode well for his edit. And one possible thought that occurred to me is that if she decides to drop Graham, perhaps her new project is Jesse.

SITTING BY THE POOL:
Twilley, Jason, and Graham are huddled together.
TWILLEY: As far as Jesse’s concerned, he’s like a fun guy to go out (D and Jesse at the table. D is stroking his arm and he looks like he wants to pull away) and, you know, be a boyfriend for a while. But she’s looking for a husband.
JASON: To be honest throughout all this time I have been pretty open about, like, interruptions and that kind of stuff
GRAHAM: Yeah.
JASON: And this was the first time where Jesse came and grabbed her… I was like man that was the first—you know—I’m not gonna be a jerk. I’m like, man, this is the first time where I don’t really want you to go, you know, right now.
GRAHAM VO: Yeah. No. For sure.
JASON: I mean, I was—I’ve always been easier at sharing. And I was like: “Jesse you are THAT guy.” (Jason laughs and then they all say “yeah” a few times until they lull themselves into a deep, stone-faced depression.)

Note: Interesting. The first time Jason didn’t want D to go. That begs the question has Jesse done this to him before and if so how often? Or has Jason just been gracious when anyone interrupted? Does he not get much alone time in the group settings? And why did he not want her to go before? Again, a tug of war. Makes me wonder how many times Jesse’s done this.

GRAHAM: I’ll be right back.
Graham gets up to leave. Jason is stumped. It’s priceless. He looks at Twilley and then Graham.
JASON: Really?
GRAHAM: Yeah.

ONE-ON-ONE TIME WITH JESSE:
Prepare for yet another sales pitch.

JESSE: I just want you to know, I am really looking forward to the rose ceremony tomorrow and either way that you choose I respect you for it. And I just want you to end up happy, and if that’s with me, I would love that. (D’s still playing with his hand. He’s not responding. It’s like he’s staring at one of those rubber replicas of Thing from the Addams Family). If that’s with someone else I respect that decision, I just want you to be smiling on the inside and on the outside. And I think I told you that on day one. (D is not smiling. Her demeanor changes in a flash when she realizes it’s the same pitch as the 1-1 date.)
DEANNA VO: I was a little disappointed that Jesse didn’t try and kiss me. There’s an obvious friendship connection between Jesse and myself, but I’m not sure if there’s a romantic connection. (What’s stopping him from kissing her? Is he trying to play gentleman? Is he really not feeling any chemistry? In the kissing competition, Jesse is dead last.
DEANNA PI: (Yet another different outfit and hair. Hair parted on the other side and wearing a dark periwinkle shirt.) And, um, I was surprised that he didn’t try and kiss me at the end.
Graham approaches them.

Note: Take note of Graham’s approach to his interruption. Jesse approached Jason and said flat out he was taking her away. Graham, on the other hand, is courteous and apologetic. Given his convo with Jason and that Graham looked across the pool during his interruption, the edit makes it seem that there’s sabotage afoot and a bit of karmic payback for Jesse.

JESSE: Oh, look who it is.
GRAHAM: Hey, I am sorry guys I apologize. Hopefully it’s not an inopportune time. (Classic. Shot. Graham appears to be looking in the direction of Jason and Twilley as D hugs Jesse goodbye. IMUO. Seems more like a friend hug.)
DEANNA TO JESSE: Thank you.
JESSE: Thank you, Graham
GRAHAM : Sorry bud.
JESSE: Hey.
GRAHAM: Thank you very much.
JESSE: If anybody’s gonna steal her, I am glad that it’s you.
GRAHAM: I really appreciate that.
JESSE: See you later, guys.

Note: That’s the second mention of Graham stealing DeAnna. First Harrison in the promo and now here.

Re: Behind the Edit **SPOILERS**

EPISODE FIVE TRANSCRIPT: PART THREE

THE GUYS BY THE POOL:
JASON TO TWILLEY: I’m sorry, but do you really not see the connection between Graham and DeAnna?
TWILLEY: I do but I think that she’s got a lot of concerns with him. I just saying that…
JASON: …that she doesn’t have to look at Graham right now and say “I want to marry you.”
TWILLEY: I agree.
JASON: She’s got another… [garbled]
TWILLEY: Okay so you’re saying Graham is a sure bet?
JASON: Graham is a sure bet.
TWILLEY: Okay. So the fourth person is… you’re saying, is you?
JASON: I don’t know if it’s me. All I know is she doesn’t have that connection that she’s got with Graham with anybody.

Note: Redflagging Jason’s commentary here. His calling Graham the “sure bet” is a bit of a red herring IMUO. It seems so blatant that one has to wonder if it doesn’t go the opposite direction. The sure bet isn’t necessarily the safe bet. This is a flag for both Jason and Graham. Also, Twilley mentions the fourth person. If they’re still assuming Graham and Jeremy are frontrunners, with Jason as the possible fourth, then who do they think is the third? What are they seeing with Jesse that we’re not? Or did Sean spill out a bunch of bravado that made them think he’s a contender?

ONE-ON-ONE TIME WITH GRAHAM:
Graham and D are snuggling in a hammock. D’s wearing the green hoodie with a blue towel as a sarong. Her head is on his shoulder, his right arm behind her.
GRAHAM: (looking at his fingernails) Man, that’s some pretty serious road trip that you’re getting ready to go on. Are you ready for that?
DEANNA: What? Going to people’s hometowns?
GRAHAM: Yeah, that’s a lot of miles to be traveled.
DEANNA: I think you can tell a lot by someone’s family, the way they are with their family.
GRAHAM: Of course.
DEANNA: And see if I fit in in that place somewhere…
GRAHAM: Yeah, I can’t wait if that happens.
DEANNA: Why?
GRAHAM: Ahhhh cause everybody will be on my team for once. (Both of them laugh and he hugs her.)
GRAHAM: No. It’ll be good, my family. The worst thing that’ll happen is you’ll leave my family, like: “Man what is she thinking coming here for you?”
DEANNA: Ahhh no.
GRAHAM: (laughs) I’m like “Guys, no. My team. You have to be on my team.” (They laugh.)
GRAHAM: But yeah, your guys are gonna… I mean, obviously my parents are wonderful people and you’re a wonderful person too, so I don’t think, you know, getting along is… will be the easy part. That will be, you know, just how comfortable you would feel. You know? And you’ll only know that if that’s something you decide to do.
DEANNA: Hmmm mmmmm murmurs (He strokes her hair as she draws to his chest).
GRAHAM: So we just lay here for a little while? (D laughs.)
GRAHAM: No don’t… don’t… don’t try to end it. I can tell when you start to get squirmy and squeamish and it’s time to go. Someone is beckoning.

Note: Big red flag here for Graham. DON’T. TRY. TO. END. IT. Yikes. That’s a whopper. Does she try to end it? Is that the outburst? Does she try to end it and he does a turnaround? Or does he try to end it? D’s response of “not yet,” would seem to indicate she’s not ready to cut him loose, at least not for this ep. But that doesn’t mean she won’t eventually end it. As a foreshadow, this one is huge. Couple that with D saying he better make it good, and it gets even bigger.

DEANNA: Not yet. Not yet. We have a few minutes.
GRAHAM: Do I?
DEANNA: Mm hmm. Better make it good.

Note: There is no denying the chemistry between these two. He’s her personal chick magnet. But up to this point in the convo, he’s never really looked at her. She looks at him adoringly, but most of the time he’s looking at the sky. To his credit, there wasn’t any drama in his edit. While the underlying issue of seeing other guys was still there, they showed him doing a 180 in pushing the issue to the forefront. He didn’t deny D a kiss this time. He finally looks at her and they kiss twice. But D remains in position as if asking for another kiss. After the last quick kiss he looks at her and strokes her chin and neck.

DEANNA PI: (in the green hoodie with the glasses on her head) There’s something about Graham that I am completely drawn too. I turn into a different person when I’m around Graham, and it’s that giddy school girl who gets the butterflies in her stomach, that every girl wants.

Note: Ah, yes. The butterflies. But they can also make one nauseous and the turmoil that much greater if the butterfly flutters off.

POOLSIDE WITH THE GUYS:
Shot of D and Graham hugging. FWIW, she hugs Graham with both arms around his neck. With Jason he has both arms around her neck and both her arms are around his upper back. With Twilley and Jesse, she has one arm around their neck and one around their waist. The difference is Twilley hugs her with both arms, Jesse reaches for her with only one arm. I respectfully leave the rest to the experts.

DEANNA TO GRAHAM: Goodbye. Have a good night.
GRAHAM: Enjoy your night, yup, enjoy your night.
JASON: You have a great night. (hugs Jason)
DEANNA: You too.
DEANNA VO: It was a great day from beginning to end and it’s one of the days that I have hoped for since (hugging Jesse) starting this whole process.
JESSE: Thank you for today.
DEANNA: Twilley, I am glad you made it without puking (hugging Twilley. Jesse busts up).
TWILLEY: I know, thanks for getting me through helicopter ride.
DEANNA VO: I didn’t want to leave. But I’m having my first one-on-one with Jeremy, and I cannot wait.

OPENER AFTER BREAK:
Sped up shot of the sun descending behind the horizon. D driving down the main drag in Palm Springs.
DEANNA VO/PI: I’m having my first one-on-one tonight with Jeremy. And I’m hoping to see that he opens up and sees this is a relationship forming between the two of us and he is able to let loose and be himself.

Note: As noted earlier, it’s funny that Jeremy’s hope was that she opens up. Makes you wonder how much either of them has truly opened up. And it sounds like he needs to loosen up. Perhaps he’s too serious for D?

AT THE VILLA:
Jeremy answers the door to find D.
JEREMY: Well hi. How are you?
DEANNA: I’m good. How are you? (She waves at the other guys sitting in the living room. Jason, Graham, Twilley, and Sean. No sign of Jesse.)
JEREMY: C’mon in.
GRAHAM VO: Jeremy definitely has a strong connection (Jeremy hugging D) that I don’t think mirrors my own…
GRAHAM PI: …but is so vastly different from my own…

Note: In this PI he has the short haircut and is wearing a shirt and tie. Looks more clean shaven.)

GRAHAM VO: (sitting on the couch with a beer looking pensive. He watches D and Jeremy leave) …that it is scary that she could go in either direction. That is troublesome. (Graham takes a sip of his beer. Looks like another long night for Graham.)

Note: It would appear that Graham is taking Jeremy as his main threat. Mentioning her going in either direction could foreshadow that at some point she has to decide between these two. The fact Graham mentions it is a red flag. Troublesome for who? And the even bigger irony of the statement—that she goes a completely different direction and chooses neither of them.

AT THE CONVERTIBLE:
Jeremy’s wearing the same brown suit and pinkish shirt from the earlier PI.
JEREMY: Oh my god. That is awesome.
DEANNA: Isn’t it? (She opens the passenger door) We’re gonna ride it here.
Jeremy: Oh. You’re gonna let me drive?
DEANNA: No. I’m gonna open the door.
JEREMY. No. I’ll open the door for you. C’mon… (He insists on opening the driver’s door for her and walks her around the car.)
DEANNA VO: I picked Jeremy up from his room tonight and walked him out to the front of the resort and I had a vintage convertible waiting for us to get to dinner. It was a perfect setting of the mood considering he didn’t know just yet our destination.

DRIVING THE CONVERTIBLE:
DEANNA VO: Don’t you wish you could drive this?
JEREMY: (laughs) It’s more fitting for you to drive this
DEANNA: (laughs) Just wait. It’s more fitting for the rest of this night.
As they drive, D grabs or pats his hand.
JEREMY VO/PI: Tonight is the last one-on-one and it’s my first one-on-one. It’s important cause we’re going right into the hometowns dates, and I am hoping that DeAnna really opens up to me. I know there’s a connection. I know there’s a physical connection; there’s definitely chemistry. But you kinda gotta feed that fire, and if she’s wanting to do that, then that’ll be a step in the right direction for sure.

Note: Lots of chatter about each of them opening up. Odd that.

INSIDE THE SINATRA HOUSE:
JEREMY: Whoa. Oh my god.
DEANNA: Cool huh? This was Frank Sinatra’s house.
DEANNA: Okay, now I get it.
DEANNA: It was built in 1947.
JEREMY: Wow, this was Frank Sinatra’s house.
DEANNA: He lived here with Ava Gardner.
JEREMY VO/PI: I am actually standing in the living room of, you know, Ol’ Blue Eyes and I was thinking of all the people that have been through this place and have hung out and had cocktails out by the pool. And I look over and there’s a mini-recording studio in the living room. It’s all the original equipment from when Frank Sinatra used to record his music.
D sets the needle on a record.
DEANNA VO: Okay, let’s turn this thing on.
JEREMY VO: I knew you had a few tricks up your sleeve. (D laughs.)
JEREMY: I am impressed. Look at that. (D laughs.)
JEREMY: Geez, you know what you’re doing (D is dancing to the beat of the music. Holding a mic. He’s studying the music. She stops moving abruptly. He’s taking this very seriously.)
DEANNA: Just start now.
BOTH SINGING: Some day when I am awfully low; when the world is cold…
DEANNA: I’ll feel the glow just thinking offffffff youuuuuuu….
JEREMY: … and the way you look tonight.
DEANNA PI: Pffffffffft, it was funny to sing Frank Sinatra songs in Frank Sinatra’s old studio.
DEANNA VO: Jeremy was totally into it. (They laugh and she nuzzles into him.)

Note: In this PI she’s wearing what looks to be the same yellow/brown tank combo she hand on earlier and a scarf as a headband. The rest of the date PIs she’s wearing the same outfit she wore on the date.

JEREMY SINGING: … The way you look tonight.
DEANNA PI: I just kinda stood by and watched his beautiful little self sing. (D claps for him.)
JEREMY: Everybody… (He looks around the room.) I think you might be my only fan. (She hugs him.)
JEREMY VO/PI: I just have to say I am very sorry to Mr. Sinatra and anyone who happens to hear that. But it was great because I got to do it with Deanna, even when we don’t know the words.

Note: In this PI he’s wearing a white t-shirt. Throughout the PI, D and Jeremy are dancing and it ends with a dip and kiss.

DEANNA PI/VO: It felt good dancing with Jeremy tonight. He got into character. He was very serious about this. He was holding me tight, he was kissing me. We made a perfect dance couple. (Another dip and kiss. Could be the same one from a different angle. Then a turn to fade out.)

Note: Again with the serious stuff. Makes one wonder if Jeremy just doesn’t loosen up enough for her.

MEANWHILE… BACK AT THE HEN HOUSE:
Jason, Graham, Twilley, and Sean are sitting in the living room. No sign of Jesse.
SEAN VO: She’s had a long day, brother.
TWILLEY: She looks really tired, actually.
SEAN: Yep she really does. (shot of Jason moping) I mean, I know she looks great, but I’m saying mentally she’s gotta be a little exhausted, huh? (Graham and his beer leave the room. Sean and Twilley are next to each other on the couch.)

Note: If you wanna see something funny, check out the look on Jason’s face when Graham leaves the room. Jason looks directly at the camera and makes the RUH ROH don’t-discuss-deanna’s-dates-in-front-of-Graham face.

TWILLEY: I mean she’s going out with a mutant. Who knows? (laughter)
SEAN: What are you saying brother?
TWILLEY: I’m just, like, saying he’s got super abilities. I’m just saying he’s a good mutant. Oh yeah. But a mutant nonetheless. With special powers.
SEAN: Would you say somewhere between the Incredible Hulk and the Thing?
(Graham returns. Jesse is now shown in sitting in the room laughing heartily.)
TWILLEY: Like he’s plugged into the Matrix, I think. He’s like out there: “I need to learn this line dancing song.” Tank—hook me up (laughter as Twilley yucks it up). He learns that stuff so fast… like what the hell’s going on, man?

Note: The Neo/Matrix reference might’ve been intentionally shown to play up Jeremy’s seriousness. Red flag. That could be a factor. Can she get crazy passionate about the serious guy?

NOTE TO SELF: IS THIS WHAT GUYS REALLY DISCUSS WHEN WE’RE NOT AROUND?

(Of course when I hear “mutant” I think Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.)

BACK AT THE SINATRA DINNER:
D and Jeremy are sitting at the dinner table holding hands.
DEANNA: This is funny, though, because we already knew each other pretty well coming into this, you know?
JEREMY: Umhmm.
DEANNA: Then, like, this is just real date.
JEREMY: I know.
DEANNA: We already know each other.
JEREMY: I was thinking about that today cause, uh…
DEANNA: No pressure.
JEREMY: No.
DEANNA: You have already kissed me so…
JEREMY: Yeah, I mean, it’s a little bit intimidating in some ways because I really don’t think that there’s anything about you that I don’t like. You know? In all fairness, I don’t think that you’re absolutely perfect.
DEANNA: I am definitely far from perfect.
JEREMY: I don’t have those expectations. I just I think in many, many ways you are perfect for me. (Deanna giggles.)

Note: Red flag here. Sean mentioning to D that she was perfect for him led to his being booted.

Note from my SO: He said, and I quote: “The look on DeAnna’s face when Jeremy said: ‘you’re perfect for me,’ was a combination of sweet and icky at the same time.”

JEREMY: Cheers! (They clink wine glasses.)
JEREMY VO/PI: I’ve been in love once I believe and I’m feeling very strong feelings for DeAnna. I mean these are actual real genuine feelings. Like I want this person in my life and I want this person here with me every day. I believe that’s what falling in love feels like and I really do hope that this is where this is headed.

JEREMY TO D: I really do feel like you and I have very good chemistry together … a very good future ahead of us. (D smiles.)
DEANNA PI: When I am with Jeremy, I feel very loved. I feel like I am the only person…
DEANNA VO: …on his mind. He’s everything that any woman would want. (They get in the pool.) He’s that perfect guy. I want so badly to fall in love with him.
DEANNA PI: This has been an unbelievably romantic evening.

Note: D’s above sequence has a lot of chop to it. There are five mentions of perfection in this segment ( and another in the convertible scene). Also, a big red flag for D and Jeremy. She wants “so badly to fall in love” with Jeremy. That’s a whopper. Does that mean she’s forcing it? Is the chemistry not there? On the one hand it looked like they were having fun. On the other, the chemistry was questionable. The kisses in particular. Has Jeremy passed or failed the Graham chemistry comparison? Does he outlast Graham simply due to consistency and loyalty to D? In the end is he too serious and she’s not serious enough about him?

IN THE POOL:
JEREMY: I’m glad you invited me. (They both move in for the kiss at the same time. The editors go for the power smooching for maximum impact.)

Note from my SO: When Jeremy and D are kissing, D never moves her arms. Never touches his face or anything. It’s as if she’s only engaged from the neck up. Dayum. The SO’s on a roll tonight.

JEREMY VO/PI: Kissing DeAnna is, you know, since the very first time I did, each time it just gets more and more intense. My heart is racing. And I seem to forget that the world is going on around me. She makes me want to, you know, experience more out of relationships. She makes me want to take a relationship to another level that I’ve never experienced before. (This PI is loaded with smoochy shots.)
(They keep playing kissy face.)
JEREMY TO D: I’m so happy I just can’t stop.
DEANNA: That’s okay. (More smooching.)

Note: If she was really into it, wouldn’t she have said “me too,” or “I don’t want you to stop.” Not completely sold on this one.

DEANNA VO: I have always searched for this perfect person. And I have to be honest, Jeremy has all those qualities. He’s been the perfect guy since the moment he opened up to me. (This could be spliced in from anywhere.)
DEANNA PI: There’s no way that I could possibly ask him for anything more.
DEANNA VO: I could definitely see myself falling in love with Jeremy.

Note: Classy date for a classy guy. I like this man, regardless of what transpires. Okay, there are seven mentions of perfection in just those two scene with Jeremy and one at the convertible. What strikes me about D’s PI is her saying that there’s no way she could “possibly ask for more” from Jeremy. Does this mean that there’s nothing more Jeremy could do to win her over? That from here on out the ball’s in her court?

Now, the VOs could be spliced in from anywhere, even from the first few eps, so those are a crapshoot. All of these things together, however, constitute a host of red flags for Jeremy. She’s searching for perfection. If she lets go of Jeremy soon, then I’m guessing that ultimately the chemistry wasn’t there for her, he’s too serious, or perhaps the HTD scared the noodles out of her Top Ramen. Another worrisome bit is that mentioning all his qualities as a husband mirrors what she said about both Richard and Fred, and she let them both go rather than lead them on. The same fate could befall Jeremy if his edit takes another slide.

WALKING INTO THE MANSION:
VO: (Sounds like Sean) I got it son, you do the honors.
JESSE VO: Let’s get it done, one more time.
The guys enter the mansion. Jesse first, then Sean, Jeremy, Twilley, Jason, and Graham bringing up the rear.
JESSE VO: Hellooooo!
SEAN VO: Where’s she at?
They enter the living room.
VO SOMEONE: This is weird, huh?
TWILLEY VO: All right this is a scavenger hunt, guys.
VO SOMEONE (Could be Jesse): We need to find the girl.
TWILLEY VO: We need to find the clue to find the girl.
SEAN VO: It seems a little odd with her not greeting us. (Shot of Jason looking concerned.)
TWILLEY: Do you think she’s just not ready? (Camera still on Jason.)
JESSE VO: How does that work? (Interesting shot. I’m red flagging this one. Jesse is saying that to Jason, with Graham standing nearby.) Every time we roll in she’s sitting on the couch (back to Jason, then Graham, then Jeremy and Sean).

Note: Jesse appears somewhat panicked or almost angry. Weird reaction. Also, the pan to Jason when Twilley asks “Do you think she’s just not ready?” That’s a red flag or red herring for Jason. Not ready to settle down and become a mom?

IN THE WAR ROOM:
A shot of the guy’s portraits. Curious. Jason, Jeremy, Jesse on the top shelf. Twilley, Graham, and Sean on the bottom. In that order. It’s interesting the way they’re positioned. Jason and Jesse are further back on the shelf with Jeremy in the center and far forward. On the bottom shelf. Twilley is off to the left, then there’s a huge gap and Graham is lower down off the center (where the candle is) and almost directly next to Sean, who is higher up. Top three, bottom three?

DEANNA VO/PI: I didn’t give out any date roes this week (shot of Jason, Jeremy, and Jason’s portraits). I really wanted to get to know all six of these guys, because the four guys that I give roses to, (Sean and Jason) they’re not just gonna be here. I’m gonna go meet their families (Twilley). And because of the week we had in Palm Springs (Jesse) I’m not really confused as to the decisions (on the couch from left to right: Sean, Jason, Twilley, Jeremy, Jesse, Graham) I’m about to make.
But I’m sending two guys home. I know exactly what that (D studying a portrait) feeling is like to be rejected, and (portrait of Jason) to not really understand why, so (Jeremy’s and Jesse’s portraits) I don’t feel like I need to let these guys suffer through a cocktail party tonight. Because I know (she puts Jeremy’s portrait back on the shelf) who my final four are going to be.

Note: When D is looking at the portrait and they cut to Jason’s image, her hands and fingers don’t look to be in the same position. Toward the end of the PI she’s stepping forward to replace Jeremy’s portrait and her hands look to be in a similar position as the previous shot. (There’s also a similar shot further down of her putting Sean’s portrait back as well.) Evil editors… Nonetheless, those are red flags for both Jason and Jeremy.

IN THE LIVING ROOM:
JESSE: I hear footsteps (Sean, Graham).
CH enters the room.
GRAHAM: Ohhh…
CH: Gentleman, good evening (Twilley, Jason). I know you were expecting and hoping to see DeAnna right now (Twilley), that’s not going to happen (Jesse, then Graham). DeAnna just told me her mind is made up (Graham bowing his head and making a “well, alrighty then” face). There will be no cocktail party tonight.
GRAHAM: Holy…
JESSE: Wow. (shot of Jeremy)
JEREMY VO/PI: When Chris Harrison walks in and tells us there is going to be no cocktail party, I’m like, did I say everything I needed to say? Did I do everything I needed to do? You know, where do I stand?

Note: Jeremy’s statement here mirrors D’s comments about not asking anything more of Jeremy. For him this is the million dollar question: Where does he stand? If there’s nothing more he can do to win D over, then this is a big foreshadow.

CH: So I need you all to prepare for the rose ceremony. All right?
SEAN: Well it’s nerve-wracking knowing DeAnna doesn’t need to really spend any more time with us. You know, what can I say? I felt like I had a great one-on-one date with her (shot of D looking at his portrait). I felt like I put everything out there; I think I answered a lot of her questions. I think I developed a good connection with her, but, you know, the ball’s in her court.

THE ROSE CEREMONY:
Standing from left to right: Graham, Twilley, Jesse, Sean, Jason, and Jeremy. Sean and Jeremy aren’t wearing a tie.

CH: Gentlemen (Sean), obviously things are a little different tonight, (Twilley, then Jesse) but as you know there is a lot on the line (Jesse). The four of you who receive roses tonight (Jason), will get the opportunity to take DeAnna back to your home towns to meet your friends and family (still on Jason, then moves to Jeremy). But two of you will be going home tonight (Sean, Twilley). I wish you all luck. Here is our bachelorette (shot and sound of Jesse cracking his knuckles). Dude, you’re not Rocky Balboa.

Note: Those last two camera shots of Sean and Twilley are the kiss of death. In fact, all of the shots are telling. Jesse cracking his knuckles is bizarre. This mirrors his almost panicked behavior when approaching Jason about why D wasn’t on the couch when they arrived. The dude’s fighting to stay in the game.

D walks into the room. Shot of Graham giving her the eye, then Jason.
DEANNA: Palm Springs was so much fun for me this week. I had a really good time (Twilley). Coming back to LA was hard cause I already knew the decision I was making (Jason and Jeremy). That is why I did not have a cocktail party tonight because I didn’t think it was fair (still on Jason and Jeremy) to put you guys through that (Graham). And sit and talk with me knowing that I had already made my decision (still on Graham). I can only say thank you (Sean), and hope that you know that I am trying to be fair by not leading you on like it was done to me (group shot).

FIRST ROSE: D picks up the second rose on the plate. (The second closest to her.) Shot of Twilley, then Jesse and Sean. She calls Jeremy.
DEANNA: Jeremy. Will you accept this rose?
JEREMY: Yes ma’am.
They hug. Shot of Jesse, then Jason.

SECOND ROSE: D picks the rose closest to her on the plate. Shot of Graham, Sean, and the entire group.
She’s calls Jason and he does a cute little shuffle towards her.
DEANNA: Jason, will you accept this rose?
JASON: Absolutely. (Shot of Graham, then Sean. Jason and D hug.)
JASON VO: Thank you so much. (Shot of Jesse, Twilley, and Graham as they’re still hugging.)

THIRD ROSE: D picks up the third rose from the plate. Still the nearest one to her that’s left. Shot of Sean, then Jesse, then Graham, and Twilley. She calls Graham.
DEANNA: Graham, will you accept this rose?
GRAHAM: Yeah, I will. Thank you. (Shot of Jesse, Twilley. D and Graham hug. Shot of Sean, the rose, then Jesse, then Twilley.)

FOURTH ROSE: She picks up the last rose. Shot of Jesse and Sean, then all three of them. Then Jesse, then Sean.
She calls Jesse. (Shot of Sean, then Twilley.)
DEANNA: Jesse, will you accept this rose?
JESSE: Yes. Thank you so much.
When D gives him the rose there’s not nearly the smile or excitement as the other three. (Makes me wonder if the lack of kiss is haunting her.) When D and Jesse hug she looks extremely tense and unhappy. Could be because she was dreading the goodbye. Or maybe it was Jesse. Who knows?

CH: Sean, Twilley. Sorry. Take a moment. Say goodbye.
SEAN VO PI: I came here looking for a future wife. I think that DeAnna definitely fits that mold. DeAnna is the type of woman that I could definitely propose too. DeAnna taught me a good lesson. She said herself that love is risk and you have take risks and I felt like I put myself out there. I think I probably could have put myself out there a little bit earlier. You know I didn’t get my horse in gear quick enough, and it was just too much to make up. It hurts a little bit more than what I expected. Heyl You know, you live and you learn.
SEAN TO D: I want to say thank you for the opportunity. You deserve every good thing that comes to you.
DEANNA TO SEAN: You are amazing, please don’t mistake any of this.
SEAN VO: Oh no (or I won’t.)
DEANNA: I had an amazing time the other night.
SEAN: See you later. Good luck to you.

TWILLEY VO/PI: It is really hard on your heart. I mean I came here looking for my wife. I opened up as much as I could. But just because you open up to a girl doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s going fall in love with you. I’m not the best looking guy in the world. I’m not like some supermodel. I’m just me. I’m just Twilley.

Note: Odd as it is, the supermodel reference is a red flag for Graham.

TWILLEY TO D: You did good kid, you did really good. Don’t worry, you’re awesome. I’m so happy for you. You’re gonna do great. So just be happy, okay? Be happy.
TWILLEY VO/PI: I know I’m a great guy. I know I have a ton to offer in a relationship, but I’ve got a very unique personality, and sometimes that might be a little bit much. It might be a little intimidating. And you know what? I’ll make somebody a really great husband—but not DeAnna.

THE TOAST:
D is standing in the middle. Jason is to her left. Jesse to her right. Jeremy is next to Jason, and Graham is next to Jesse.
DEANNA: Next week is going to be a good week and I’m excited to meet all of your families (Jeremy, Jason). And, um, I am very glad that it’s the four of you all (Graham).
VO SOMEONE: So are we.
(My closed captioning says that both Jesse and Jason independently said “So are we.”) So much for solving that dilemma. ROFL.
DEANNA: Cheers!

Note: When D gives the toast there are shots of Jason, Jeremy, and Graham, but not Jesse. It’s very interesting. In slo-mo the glasses merge together pretty quick, but she looks to hit Jesse’s glass first, then Jason, Graham, and Jeremy.

Re: Behind the Edit **SPOILERS**

EPISODE FIVE TRANSCRIPT: PART FOUR

This section was kindly transcribed by Traylo. Well done you! I’ve left her running commentary intact. My comments and red flags are noted. A few points of intrigue. In her transcript, Traylo bolded Chris Harrison’s dialog in regard to the guys, and she’s spot on in her observations. Check it out:

* Jesse is back in his element. But DeAnna is not.

* It’s a wild ride with Jeremy… till the family shows up.

* DeAnna meets Jason’s son. But will Jason take his mother’s advice?

* And everything’s great with Graham. Until mom steps in.

* But then… DeAnna breaks down.

Here’s my take. They’ve outdone themselves in these snippets. Jesse is in his comfort zone, but D isn’t. Jeremy shows his wild side, but is squelched by his family. D meets Jason’s son, and Jason is given advice from his mom. Graham is great, until mom drops a bomb. Then you have D breaking down.

A few more thoughts. There’s no mention of Jesse’s family. Where are they hiding? (Think of Jesse and his mask.) Also, here again is Jesse showing his physical risk taking as mentioned at the start of the transcript. Contrast that to Jason’s emotional risk taking by introducing his son and discussing an open heart with his mom. Jeremy breaks out of the “serious” mold and gets wild, only to be overshadowed by the seriousness of his very guarded family. Everything’s great with Graham. Or is it? Sure, he and D missed each other. But Graham was excited because “everyone will be on my team.” What happens? Mom questions his relationship capacity.

One of these four experiences is causing D to break down. And all of this is in keeping with their edits. Also worth noting is that D wasn’t shown in the ep discussing what family would be like with Jeremy or Jesse. She did with Jason and Graham. In the transcript below, Traylo timed-out each of the guy’s exposure. (I can’t believe you did that!) Jason got more time than the others.

On to Traylo’s transcription:

NEXT SCENES:

HTD WITH JESSE: (10 seconds)
Blaring sunlight shot leads into Jesse getting some major air off a jump on his snowboard. First of three jumps.

CH VO: Next week on the Bachelorette. Jesse is back in his element.

JESSE VO: (while jumping) Yeah!
One more jump shown with a 360 in the air, then what appears to be a repeat of the beginning of the exact same jump. Then a shot of Jesse teaching D how to snowboard. D is decked out in full-on Michelin-Man attire, her left hand holding onto Jesse’s as they are facing each other and moving down the mountain.
DEANNA VO: Ohhhhhhhh! (Jesse lets go of D. Both her hands rise up high over her head.)
CH VO: But DeAnna is not.
DEANNA VO: “Ahhhhhhhhh” (Scream, scream. She immediately does a face plant into the snow. Jesse hops onto his knees to make sure D is okay.)
JESSE VO: You okay?
DEANNA VO: You’re supposed to tell me when you’re letting go! Giggle, giggle!

Note from Piper: Red flag on this one. Jesse hasn’t been shown to take emotional risk, so the “letting go” is a double entendre. Does he ever let go? Or does she let him go?

HTD CHEZ JEREMY: (11 seconds)
This begins with familiar music. Classic F2 music?? Upbeat while on motorcycle, stops abruptly when Jeremy’s brother speaks.

CH VO: It’s a wild ride in Dallas with Jeremy…
D is on back of Jeremy’s motorcycle. He grabs her left arm and pulls it around his front, like a mix of “hang on!” and “sheesh, you are supposed to be holding me like you will never let me go! Get CLOSER!”
Dee lets out a “Whoo!”
CH VO: … till the family shows up. Shot of woman in brown shirt extending right hand. D extends hers. They shake. Then it cuts to new scene just as D puts both arms out to offer a hug (afraid to show anything TOO positive here?)

Cut to brother sitting back on the couch, his left arm straddling the back of the couch with a very “I OWN this place and you better listen to me cuz I am all that and I am real scary.”

Note from Traylo: Looks like he is doing an impression of Rico Sauvé, only he isn’t!

Note from Piper: ITA with Traylo. Why not show the positive? That snippet is really confrontational and the one below is somewhat threatening. Also, the seriousness of the convo mirrors the seriousness that could play a part in Jeremy ultimately not winning over D. Red flag for Jeremy.

BRO: (shaking head “no”) We’re not on your side. (Did he really say that?!!!)
DEANNA: I have very, very genuine feelings for Jeremy.

Note from Traylo: D is leaning forward, arms on legs, hands clasped and brow a little furrowed, like she is a little frustrated that they are not seeing how much she is loving Jeremy.

BRO: You’re not just committing to Jeremy, you’re committing to us too. (Tension...meet knife! D continues to lean forward, he continues to lean back like he can’t get far enough away.)

HTD CHEZ JASON (16 seconds)
Awww. Loooove music starts playing, (F1 music?) and stays playing for the whole glimpse of HTD. It’s the only HTD that plays music throughout.

CH VO: And in Seattle… (shot of Space Needle, fades in. Oh so pretty. Music.) DeAnna meets Jason’s son.
TY: Daddy!!!!!! (running to see his pa. Big bear hug and roll on the grass. Awww.)
JASON TO TY: Can I introduce you to somebody?
JASON: This is my…(pause, rewind, d’oh! almost let something slip there! What was it?) … This is DeAnna.
DeAnna, grinning, approaches with a little trepidation. She squats down to Ty and Jason’s level.
TY PI: I like DeAnna. (Could he be any cuter??)
CH VO: But will Jason follow his mother’s advice?
Jason and his mom are sitting on front steps in front of what I assume is momma’s house.
JASON’S MOM: I want you to have that openness in your heart.

Note from Traylo: Hmmm, sounds like a mom saying: “Look. I know you have been burned. It is not easy to open up your heart to love again, but be open to the possibility.” Momma sounds like Jason’s biggest fan. Sage woman.

Note from Piper: Again, ITA with Traylo. And them showing that is completely intentional. The comment from his mother is in keeping with what Jason told D during his 1-1 at the pool. Even bigger is the Freudian slip he made when introducing D to Ty. My what? Girlfriend? Wife? Potential squeeze? Pookie wookie? The woman who’s gonna dump me? Both of these scenes are big red flags for Jason.

HTD WITH GRAHAM (10 seconds)
CH VO: And everything is great with Graham… (Dee hugging Graham outside of a vehicle.)

Note from Traylo: Is it just me, or does CH say “Great” with a little extra snark?

Cut to inside a gymnasium, both dressed in basketball uniforms. Hugging again at centre court.

GRAHAM: I missed you. (sappy)
DEANNA: I missed you too. (more sappy)
CH VO: Until mom steps in.
(Shot of D hugging Graham’s mom. Graham and his dad are also in the shot.)
GRAHAM’S MOM: Finding someone that lasts past four weeks is difficult for Graham.

Note from Traylo: Dee does some rapid blinking and scrunches up lips, like she is in thought. That lip move happens so often whenever Graham is not meeting one of her ideal requirements!

Note from Piper: Yikes! Thanks for being on MY team, mom. This is a red flagger on so many levels that my head just exploded. Bottom line: It’s all or nothing with Graham IMUO. Mom mentions the one thing D’s most worried about: true commitment and giving yourself completely to the one you love. The chemistry is there, but it could come at a price.

THE “BREAKDOWN:”

CH VO: But then…
D in dress, outside, crying
DEANNA TO SOMEONE: I have true, genuine feelings and all I wanted was for you to be that person in the end.
CH VO: Deanna breaks down… (D looking at card or letter with a REALLY pained expression on her face)
DEANNA PI: (sniffling)I’m second-guessing my decision.

Note from Piper: D’s outburst could bring the Graham story arc to a dramatic close or conversely it could all be a ruse, and the breakdown could be someone totally unexpected. There’s no telling. Maybe Jeremy goes to the defense of his family and he and D argue. Maybe Jesse still won’t kiss her and she thinks he’s not serious enough. Maybe Jason’s situation is too overwhelming. So many possibilities.

CH VO: Next week, on an exciting new episode of the Bachelorette. (token roses again)

****

That’s the whole shaboodle. Can’t wait to hear what you glean from the ep!

Re: Behind the Edit **SPOILERS**

Interesting read. Thanks! I did want to comment on this part.

Quote:
GRAHAM TO GUYS: Why are you laughing? You guys got left. (Funny this. He says “you guys” and not “we.”)
It's hard to tell but if you watch it closely, it's actually Jeremy saying it while tapping Graham on the shoulder.

Re: Behind the Edit **SPOILERS**

Thanks for your hard work. Off to read it now...........

A "?" and a "!" .....

When you say "Huge red flag" I thought it meant someone is toast. However, it sometimes indicates NOTEWORTHY. What do you actually mean by that ?

My comment about taking Jeremy for Karaoke - no way. But then to me DeAnna is tone deaf too so not too bad.
For me he is perfect but I would have kicked him to the curb with that singing LOL.

Re: Behind the Edit **SPOILERS**

I am wondering about all of the reference to Graham "stealing" Deanna, could this possibly foreshadow something unexpected?????????
