![]() While I see the show from a BLF perspective I always find it fascinating to see the other ways of watching the show and it has led to my being very interested in sleuthing photos and whatnot. I, too, hope that Piper and Bloomers continue to provide their feedback to the shows. So interesting. Oh, and, yes, that's me, after about an hour of straightening my wildly curly/messy hair ![]()

| Re: Behind the Edit **SPOILERS** Cheers, Everyone! Lynn, you’re an angel! Thanks for bring all of that over. Had I the scientific capability, I’d clone you a Jeremy to do with as you see fit. ![]() Quote:
I probably need to clarify my syntax. On Survivor they’re playing for the big bucks, hence the “money” shot. Here the big bucks are playing for, uh, well, they’re playing. Major shots to me are those that bear significant foreshadowing or those carefully placed during crucial moments. There have been quite a few of those. Money shots accelerate that concept but they tend to be more sparse and can apply to winners or those making it far into the game. Those shots tend to stick in my craw. Jason’s had a few money shots, like when DeAnna gave the toast declaring something to the effect that one of these men is her husband. The camera went to Jason. Also Jesse sprinkling the dust over Jason’s head. On those final shots you asked about. For example, when Twilley was getting his rose, the camera flashed to Paul, then Jesse, Jeremy, and Graham. When Jesse was getting his rose it flashed to Sean, then Ron. And so forth… Toward the end, the camera wasn’t hitting anyone but Ron, Sean, and Paul except for one shot of Graham. Kind of interesting. Quote:
ITA that D seems to be showing a serious amount of effort in pushing Graham. If he’s not a speed dating sorta bloke this would be nervewracking. The comment about Graham’s edit leaning toward his being possessive and controlling is actually not my observation but that of my better half. I thought it was interesting coming from another guy! ![]()

Your efforts would be most appreciated. ![]() So, the equivalent to a Survivor *money shot*, perhaps, is the equivalent of the winning guy/girl getting those shots on the Bachelor/ette? What distinguishes a money shot from a bad guy shot or a villain shot? Is a major money shot different from just a money shot? Or, are they the same? Also, I understand what you're saying about the camera shots. I only picked those ones because they were nicely grouped together. Do the actual camera shots, of whoever they are showing, while someone else is talking, mean something? The fact that they showed Paul and Ron makes sense but throughout the show we had many shots of other guys so I'm wondering what it all means if only from a Survivor perspective. I realize that there may not be a perfect parallel between the two shows and that maybe the lingo used with Survivor might not seamlessly be used here but maybe you could translate where you think it's different from how you refer to different things (ie: the money shot on Survivor means the person winning the money but in this show maybe it means the winner of the prize). Ha! I told you I'd have questions. Methinks you've created a monster just like i<3reality did by helping me post screencaps ![]()

| Re: Behind the Edit **SPOILERS** Hi there Piper and Bloomers I can never ever thank you enough for doing all of this. OMG..you just blow me away with your understanding of the whole process. One thing I would love clarification on....and this is, please understand, not a criticism in any way, shape or form...but truly just trying to understand. Piper I found your commentary of DeJay's date to be quite limited and I was quite surprised by that...since to many of us here, it was the most magically romantic and emotional date ever!!! You did state that DeDe was eatting as Jay talked of his ex...but not a whole lot more. Was it because the BLA factor is so much more telling in such a situation, that the editing and camera shots do little? I was just surprised by the lack of attention given to it by you, and again, not trying to criticize...but just surprised that such an incredibly emotional scene that moved me from quiet tears, to actually sobbing...it shocked me that you said so little about it. I am just trying to understand in the whole editing scheme of things...why? And like I said, was it not an editing thing...but more a BLFA thing? Thanks so beyond very much!!!! I love what you guys are doing...and it just helped so much today watching the scenes again. I really pray you will do it again....and please know I recognize the time and sacrifice involved!!! I would never criticize it...just trying to understand the producers manipulation better. Cheers and Thanks Karey ![]() |

| Re: Behind the Edit **SPOILERS** Wow, Piper - that is impressive! We've had people catalogue VOs or PI (personal interviews), but the whole dang episode AND Chris' "coming up" statements? ![]() Those little hints in the previews, the commercials, and the "up next" are great little clues. Well, at least about who won't win - it's a little less clear about pointing to the winner. As a for instance. "Everyone hates Jeremy". That's not good for Jeremy. Well, it's great if he didn't want to win, but that's what I like to think of as the kiss o' death. This season has been a little more blatant - zooming in on Jason seemingly ever other moment, getting his reactions all of the time - but in the past the "Who will go home broken hearted?" versus "Who will be Mrs. Bachelor?" didn't really have as much of a tried and true pattern. Another clue - they usually show the "stepping out of the limo" moments of a few of the guys/girls at the start of each episode. It's interesting to note who they show, and what order they choose, from week to week. So glad to have you here! ![]() |

| Re: Behind the Edit **SPOILERS** Piper's transcript reminded me that D said the reason that she was glad to have the guys stay in the house was to see what they are "really like" see them first thing in the am.... I wondered if they left Jesse's farting/pooping conversation in to show that he is revealing what he "really is like" just as D hopes. I think this is the aspect of Jesse that will take him to F2. Many of us have wondered what she could see in him over Jeremy, Graham or beautiful Brian. After rereading the transcript I think she sees a real person in Jesse and that is one of the things that she has repeatedly said she wants in a guy "Someone who knows who they are and knows what they want." Jesse is doing a good job of being down to earth and showing her what he wants. ![]() |

But, I must say that I didn't see the romance like everyone else either. And I am a HUGE Jason fan (he is so much like my DH). At times I saw glimpses of what were special, but as a whole I didn't "feel" it either. I do think it will be a very good foundation for what is to come. I will also add that as a whole, this season seems to be horribly choppy at times (i.e. Jason and Dee's 1-on-1). It makes it hard to enjoy.

The voiceovers are always a clue as well. Usually what the other people are saying is shown with a shot of the person who is picked. Especially the more serious and telling comments (ie: "You're so cool," by Graham was shown while the DeAnna and Jason helicopter shot was happening).
