I don't think that just because he has a background in psych it means that his behavior should be considered suspect. If anything, I think his comments spoke to someone who has a vested, emotional interest in another person. I don't think that Jason verbalizing his thought process means he's calculated or manipulative, just that he understands how to be a good partner at a time like that. And seriously, is there any one of us that hasn't wished at some point that our partner would be able to intuit how we are feeling and know what we need?

I find myself people watching a lot and trying to read what people's body language and emotions tell me about them. If anything, it might just make Jason better able than the rest to pick up on how DeAnna is feeling at a particular moment. Per last night, he didn't push the 2-1 date subject with her and he gave her space even when sitting on the lounge outside until she felt comfortable enough to lay on his chest.

I also have a degree in psych, as well as a Masters in Social Work, and I worked as a counselor for several years before taking on my current role as stay-at-home-mom-cyber-geek, so I speak with experience when I say that what one learns from psych classes and the like can be both a blessing and a curse when used in interpersonal relationships in ones own life. The degree may give Jason some insights into himself/De/the other guys, but I can tell you first hand that when you are emotionally involved in a situation your "knowledge" goes right out the door. He can probably read what some of the other guys are thinking sometimes, and he might even be able to sum up their motivation or draw conclusions about their personality types---but I bet that where DeAnna is concerned his vision goes completely cloudy due to the fact that he is involved. I am SO GOOD at telling when my friends have someone attracted to them----when someone is attracted to me I am clueless. If Jason is not aware that personal issues cloud the knowledge radar, then he could easily convince himself of stuff that isn't really true, and that could hurt him (both emotionally and in terms of the outcome of the show) in the long run. Hearing that he has a psych degree, and hearing that he thinks he can read people explains to me why I have had a slightly off vibe from him---I thought he seemed very nice and everything, but there was a nagging sense that he was doing something sneaky---and i think what I was sensing was that he is trying to read people and base some of his actions on what he reads---not a bad thing, just what I think was giving me "the vibe".

That said, I have a question. Has anyone noticed that Jeremy is often holding a baseball bat? I have to say i noticed that a few times during last night's episode and it was cracking me up, because even though he was never holding it in a defensive manner I just kept thinking about how people carry a baseball bat when they think there might be an intruder in their house. It just made me laugh. I love Jeremy, and I don't think he is about to whack anyone with a bat---my real question is---doesn't it seem like Jeremy always needs to be doing something with his hands? There's the bat. the frisbee in the screencap after the swim party, countless shots where he is either rubbing his hands together or has hid hands linked and folded in front of him, not to mention that he is often either touching DeAnna or in some way using his hands to communicate with her (putting his jacket around her, putting the blankets around her, etc.). Is he just fidgety? Is he very tactile and needs to have his hands touching stuff? Is it just nerves from the situation? Just looking for opinions. I know I always have to have my hands busy, so it's a trait I can very much relate to---just want to know what others think about Jeremy and his hands.

Re Graham, I'm getting the passive-aggressive vibe, and I dislike that ploy. It's used to control someone's emotions, and I hated that he pulled that with DeDe.

Jason can read a situation, and I loved how he comforted DeDe.

I fourth, fifth and sixth that. This thread along with the Behind the Edit thread are wonderful complements to the screencap analysis when trying to read and figure out not only the show, but also the people involved.

You've heard the saying, "He came with hat in hand." He is always submissive to her needs. I had the funniest mental image for just a moment when I read "hat in hand" and you were questioning it. The image was of a man begging for coins....or is that the little monkey with the organ grinder.

Lynn, I'm a long time lurker and rarely post, BUT the BLF and the Edit threads are my all time favs! I ADORE your posts!!! I put much stock in your read of the body language and facial expressions in an episode rather than any of the spoken words. Because TPTB edit the footage to show the story line "they" want I doubt every word I hear because I know it is all out of context. I too hate when I am misled and I feel stupid because I fell for it, but once I calm down I realize that (and this applies to you too) that I couldn't be misled if I wasn't trusting, accepting and caring - all really good traits to have. The fault lies in those who mislead - I don't even want to think about what character traits would lead them to do so.

I too want to participate in the group hug. Thanks for all the time and effort you spend on our behalfs!!

P.S. I have a soft spot for the deaf community and the ASL language. My 19 years old decided years ago that he want to be an ASL interpreter and is currently in an Associates of Science program that should graduate him at a level 3 interpreter here in Texas (this program has them do internships with the schools and hospitals).

P.S.S. Last night just confirmed that Jesse is a major player - way too smooth and he's playing all sides. Graham in real life is probably a great guy, probably not al all designed for this process and I wonder at the real life experience he has had with women, what we read as unwilling may just be socially awkward. I keep reading comments about how many guys D has kissed - hasn't it just been Jeremy, Graham and Jason? I missed part of last week, did she kiss Richard before she let him go?
