Then, Jenni was asking some of the other men serious questions about kids and marriage and when she got to him, she said she wasn't going to ask him serious questions. My take is the producers specifically told her not to ask him those types of questions because they want to have the "drama" of him telling D himself, rather than having her find out through Jenni.
Definitely cubsgirl. Jenni may not have known exactly why she wasnt supposed to ask him those questions, but I'd bet she was following their instructions. They always want to milk the dramatic moments.

Or Jenni might have asked Jason and it was edited out...

There were 24 other men there vying for DeAnna's attention and they could be interrupted at any second, without Jason being able to answer her questions, or her having a chance to even process the information. Ron's case was a bit less complicated, in the fact that he doesn't have a 3 year old boy to explain. I believe Jason is a dedicated Father, who is very interested in DeAnna....and out of respect for both Ty and DeAnna, he wanted to make DeAnna aware of Ty when the time was right for her to process it! Not at the first meet and greet/frat party setting where he could not honour his son the way he would want to do or deserves, or honour DeAnna with the knowledge of Ty. JMO of course. Thanks

I understand what you're saying and I believe that it was also the reasons that Bevin and Bettina decided to wait. But the edit is still the same to me, and we know that they didn't make it to F1. Also, there where no children involved in Bevin and Bettina's situations which would have been easier (imo) as far as second chance relationships go. Tptb is placing too much emphasis on Jason being a single parent and too little on Jason being the hot dude (again imo).

I hope this comes across the way I want it to. Sometimes it's hard for my humor to reflect on the computer, but anyway. How do we know what Jason's edit is going to be? It's only been one episode. He could be getting the Bevin/Bettina edit, but I think it's way too early to tell. I personally think it will be different. Bettina and Bevin both gave multiple PIs worrying about telling Brad and Andy, what they would think, etc. Jason only commented that it wasn't the right time. He didn't seem nervous that she would not accept the fact; in fact, he said he would be surprised if De was upset about it. I actually agree with Jason and think that, if she falls for Jason, she will welcome Ty with open arms. I agree with Karey also that Jason just didn't want to have such an important conversation when people were interrupting, rightfully so, at any moment. It just was not the proper occasion, IMO. I think it's good that he waited, but also agree that he needs to tell her soon. According to the press release, I think he will.

Oh, and marlap, I agree. I never experienced exactly what you went through with mom marrying someone else young; however, my brother was only 3 when my parents divorced. My mom started dating someone else, but to my brother, he was only her friend. Even though they eventually split, he's not scarred by the experience. I think the fact that Jason does come with a two-package deal does make it a little more difficult, but can also be seen as more special. I would hate to call an adorable 3 year-old "baggage". I would call him an "added bonus."

Fleiss's drama is developed by conflict. It goes against the grain to say this, but my suspicion is that Fleiss is going to use not only the divorce but the child as the "conflict" or what it is that makes Jason look "too good to be true."

To make it worse, Fleiss's conflict builds to a climax when DeAnna is forced to choose between a single, divorced dad and single (unencumbered "carefree") bachelor.

BTW, I am sure that Jason has faults like everyone else and is therefore not "too good to be true", but in this scenario it is to Fleiss's advantage to focus instead on Jason's marital situation rather than his looks and character.

I don't think Bettina and Bevin got nearly the same edit, other than the common drama that came with fretting over when to tell Andy/Brad about their previous marriage. I don't think we can judge what Jason's edit is going to be, other than trying to speculate based on what we've seen so far (and in the previews). We know they're definitely going to spend quite a bit of time on the issue that he's divorced and has a child, but I seriously doubt that will be all there is to his edit, just like being divorced wasn't all that made up Bettina's and Bevin's edit. Normally, when someone is in it until at least the F2, their edit is more complex than "divorced".

As to your last point, while I think Jason is a cutie, I don't think he'll fill the role of "hot guy". I'm sure we'll get plenty of all of them shirtless, but he's got lots of competition from guys like Jeremy.

I'd rather see the focus more on how they feel about each other than a focus on how hot he is - especially since the "hot" one is rarely the F1. Just my ten or twenty cents.

The children's needs always come first, imo and that takes some of the focus off the relationship. To me it has nothing to do with blame, it's just a fact, imo, that having a child involved in the relationship brings complications. I think we're past the point where people are tainted because the first marrige didn't succeed. I'd feel exactly the same had Jason been a widower. It's not about Jason, imo, it's about the needs of his darling little boy.
girlsmom, I totally agree. sure it can work , but his son will always come first ( as he should), IMO It will take alot of sacrificing on DeAnna's part , to start a new relationship out with a ready made family. Many do it ,and it works out fine. Most her age would turn on their heels, and run in the opposit direction. IF she is up for the task, I wish her nothing but the very best.

I agree that most probably would turn on their heels and run, but I don't think that that means DeAnna would. I'm only 20 and if I fell in love with a man who had a child, I would maybe a little leery of the woman with whom he had a child, but if the woman was not a problem, I would welcome the child into my life wholeheartedly. I guess I am more of an exception to the rule because I have always been really maternal and cannot wait to be a mother. I feel like it's one of my callings in life, as silly and cliche as that may sound. I choose to give De the benefit of the doubt. IMO, if she chooses to keep Jason to the F2, then Ty is not a problem in her mind, but a blessing.
