Yeah, and if you consider that he started this whole process months ago (not sure when exactly the auditions were) the time between the divorce and this show becomes even more narrow.

However, divorce proceedings can take a while (especially with children involved) so who knows how long, really, he has been single, so to speak. I think this is a have to watch for more information situation.

Btw, haven't posted at the FORT in ages but I'm all excited about DeAnna's season so I decided to come out of lurkerdom!

Looks like he and his wife were together for almost 10 years. It's very possible that it just didn't work out and that they have actually been separated for a couple of years. It generally takes at least 6 months for a divorce to be final so they at least have been apart since Jan. 07 if not before. That doesn't seem like an unreasonable time to start dating. Being 20 something I personally would love to be with someone who has been unmarried but don't think I would automatically count someone out because of it. This may especially be true for DeDe who's own parents divorced when she was young.

The fact that he is divorced and has a child could fit Dee's statement about being surprised about who she fell for. I still don't prefer Jesse, a man who was involved with a married woman and then got involved with someone else at the same time.

I guess I'll just give them all the benefit of the doubt.

10 years? I thought he was only married one year.

According to their wedding site they started dating in 1998 and got married in 2003.

That IS interesting actually... we always knew that DeAnna's mom died when she was twelve. But during the whole Bachelor season, we never learned that her parents were divorced. I always assumed (and I guess that's true for everybody else here as well) that her father remarried after his wife died. Now in DeAnna's bio for the Bachelorette, we're suddenly told that her parents got divorced when she was six, and now there is a divorced single dad on her season who seems to make it to the F2.

I would be very surprised if Jason wins. He's got a child in SEATTLE and Deanna lives in Georgia. Unless Deanna is planning to move to Seattle, I don't see this working out.

They got married in 2003. The child is three years old so it was born in late 2004/early 2005... if they were only married for a year, they would have been divorced while she was pregnant... seems unlikely to me especially because they make us believe that the boy is living with Jason (I personally wouldn't call a guy a "single dad" if he only got to see his son every second weekend).

If Jason has full custody for his son (which we don't know yet!), it might almost be smarter for him to move to Georgia with his son instead of bringing his new wife close to his ex-wife...

To me, being divorced a year is plenty of time, it depends on the person.

My husband was divorced three months when we started dating and because of that at first, I just thought it would be fun for awhile cos he was cute and sweet and artistic, I was prepared for the other shoe to drop because he was so fresh out of a marriage, and didn't take it very seriosuly for the first six months we dated...

But he was wonderful and we got married and were together for ten years.

He was a pair-bonder...

some men really love being in a relationship and it's possible Jason is one of those men!
