TV Ratings for The Bachelor 14 Episode 3

10.63 million viewers and 3.9/9 in adults 18-49.

    Comparison to episode 2:
10.5 million viewers and 3.6/9 in adults 18-49.
    Revised for overnight ratings.

    Comparison to Premiere Episode
9.54 million viewers and 3.3/8 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 13 (Jasson) episode 3:
9.9 million viewers and 3.5/9 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 12 (Matt) episode 3:
8.8 million viewers and 2.9/7 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 11 (Br@d) episode 3:
9.92 million viewers and 3.3/8 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 10 (Andy) episode 3:
9.26 million viewers and 3.5/9 in adults 18-49.

Comparison to The Bachelor 9 (Lorenzo) episode 3:
9.85 million viewers and 3.7/9 in adults 18-49.
This is not a typo. It was because of the T'Erica hype.

Comparison to The Bachelorette 5 (Jillian) episode 3:
6.34 million viewers and 2.2/6 in adults 18-49.

The ratings were up again in both viewers and demographics. Jake is stomping all other Bachelors since Jesse (B5) way back in 2004. Usually the group dating episodes fade a bit. But this season has continually gained. And episode 3 didn't have an overpromoted twist!

The Bachelor improved each half-hour, peaking at 11.42 million viewers and 4.2/10 in adults 18-49 in the last half-hour. Even Castle is doing better. ABC is taking notice.

As for the competition, CBS' comedies were #1, a two-hour 24 on Fox was #2 in viewers and #3 in the demo. On NBC Chuck did Ok, but Heroes is still dropping. And the CW is still trailing despite new episodes. On the night ABC was #3 in viewers and #2 in the demo.

Is it too much to ask for some reality in reality TV?

Just to quibble with that a bit, the previews released to media, internet, and broadcast had Tenley telling him she was pregnant. Classic Bachelor bait and switch, but still ...

That said, these are amazing ratings for this crap, tired show.

Scandal drama catfights, with a pivot to romance at the very end. That's their formula!

I hate the way his face moves when he smiles. There I said it. It's kind of creepy to me.

Not unless he is an insensitive dolt, which I don't think he is. I hope he did pick someone so I can somewhat justify devoting so many Monday nights to watching this show and the time posting and reading here. I was hacked off at the end of Brad's season when he just walked away with no one. Seems like after that, they should have made a new rule that the Bach/ette is required to choose SOMEONE at the end of the show, even if they announce a break-up a few months later. Anyway, Jake saying he fell in love with multiple women seems like a good (actually, lame but adequate) excuse not to have chosen anyone in particular, and I hope that's not where this is going.

Lucky – they have been doing that – there has always been a plant/backup plan since Brad – and maybe Vienna is the backup plan. We’ll have to wait and see.

As we kill time waiting for ... what?? .. something ... anything. Here's a funny item. I always thought this news article was bizarre -- the premise of the show is to find a wife. Why would Jake agree to be available for a date for even a charity auction?

The first publication date is Nov 9 -- before Fantasy Dates were filmed. Did Jake know even then he'd be available??

Lights of Life Gala snags ABC’s next heartthrob ‘Bachelor,’ Jake Pavelka, for auction

Jake Pavelka will be the next “Bachelor” when the hit ABC reality show returns to the air in January, but some lucky lady in Hopkins County will have had a chance to win his heart by then.

Jake Pavelka will be ABC’s next “Bachelor” when the hit show returns in January.
Pavelka, who also appeared on last summer’s “The Bachelorette,” will be the big ticket item in January during the silent auction at the Seventh Annual Lights of Life Gala, sponsored by the Hopkins County Health Care Foundation to support and improve health care in the area.

Health Care Foundation Director Jackie Thornton made the “BIG Announcement” during a meeting today of the Lights of Life Committee at the Memorial Medical Plaza building.

What we will be offering at our Gala is ‘A Date with Jake, The Bachelor’” Thornton announced to more than a few whoops. She said Aaron Evans and Eddie Deen, who oversee the catering at the gala, were able to get the agreement confirmed.

“We think that this will take our live auction up a notch, because the game plan is that we might be able to take some outside bidding before we ever get to the gala,” Thornton said.

Craig Roberts, who is co-chairman of this year’s Lights of Life campaign with his wife, Jennifer, said they are already working on the logistics of bidding before the gala.

“We’re working on it so that you’re going to be able to bid on it even if you don’t go to the gala,” he said.

Thornton reminded the committee members that the date with Pavelka doesn’t have to be limited to a young, single girl.

“This can be a fun girls’ night out. It doesn’t have to be a single person — the limo holds 10 people, hello!” Thornton said to laughter. “It could be a ladies group, or who’s to say a husband wouldn’t buy it for a special birthday for his wife?”

    ...
Thornton said Lights of Life Gala organizers are ecstatic.

“We think offering a ‘Date with Jake’ as one of our live auction items will create some competitive and exciting bidding among our guests,” she said.

Because the new season of “Bachelor” kicks off in mid-January, Pavelka hasn’t been able to confirm is he will attend the gala.

“However he was excited to make a donation to the gala when approached,” she added. “He’s really cute, he’s really a nice guy — he’s not one of these sleazy types,” Thornton said. “He’s a very nice young man.”
Okay, here is a more recent press account -- describing it as a "fun" event for a group -- not necessarily a date with Jake...

The Lights of Life Gala Committee is offering a chance for prospective bidders to get a jump on the competition for a “Fun Night with Jake” Pavelka, “The Bachelor” of the upcoming ABC reality show of the same name.

They can get a closer look at “The Bachelor” when Pavelka and ABC kick off the show’s new season on Monday, Jan. 4, at 7 p.m. The next morning on Tuesday, Jan. 5, between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. on STAR County 95.5, some lucky lady, group of ladies, or couples in Hopkins County will be offered a chance to bid on the “Fun Night with Jake” that will also be offered at the gala.

The evening with Jake includes limousine service to and from Dallas for a wonderful dinner at a Dallas restaurant yet to be determined. The limo holds 10 people, so this could be a fun night out for a bunko group, a bridge group or a couple — the winner gets to decide who gets to join in the fun.

The winning bidder will receive two tickets to the Lights of Life gala, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 16. The winner of the radio telethon bidding can continue their bidding at the gala. “Moose” at STAR Country 95.5 has graciously offered to help with the early morning bidding. Craig Roberts, chair of the 2010 Gala, will be on air to help promote the “Fun Night with Jake” and to talk about the gala.

“The gala is already sold out, and we are on target to pass our $110,000 goal,” said Jackie Thornton, director of the Hopkins County Health Care Foundation that oversees the event. “We are so excited about the generous community support we have received for this year’s gala, and we’re not sure what to expect on the bidding. I’m sure that whatever, it’s gonna be fun!”

The funds raised through the gala this year will help purchase a new digital mammography machine for the hospital.

Anyway, since I know you are all in suspense ... a middle aged couple "won" the night with Jake....I wonder if the wife is a FORT member. Speak up ladies!
