And not to be pessimistic or anything (I know how you hate that ) but last time they searched for a "fresh face", we got ex-quasi-banker-turned-fame-whore Matt. What did we learn about his career or aspirations? Absolutely nothing. At least with Alex, Aaron, Andrew, Andy, etc., we actually heard about their careers, lives and goals. I think no one of any credibility is going to do this show anymore. ABC is probably just hoping to find (1) a pretty face; with (2) no STDs and (3) no major felonies on his record.
Very true, very true. I remember after Brad I wrote a bunch of posts querying who the Heck would sign the agreement and put their reputation on the line. No one at the top of a professional ladder or with loads of money already, unless the publicity would be a material boost.

As a mother of 2, something about shopping for a Step Mom in a reality TV show setting over a period of just a few weeks (see the filming schedule -- only 10 days elapse before the final 4 are picked!) creeps me out. Hopefully, Ty would see it as fun and games only. Indeed, perhaps he would have the healthiest attitude of all. To conclude the show with a credible "engagement" -- even for reality TV -- [PLAY] "dates" with Ty would have to be filmed, showcasing their suitability to be a Step Mom. Feels more creepy than fun.

In any event! Casting finalists weekend is Aug 21-22 -- right around the corner. If Jason were chosen by producers/approved ABC, I would think casting would want to brief contestants about their open-ness to being engaged to a father of a (by then) 4 year old. So, someone who makes it that far in the Bachelor 13 auditions will hopefully let us know if any such disclosure is in the mix.

Ten days to the F4 pick? It's hardly worth debating which F4 woman/man is worthier after only 10 days that are made to look like 6 weeks. Hell, I take longer to pick out the perfect handbag/shoe combo than some of these bachelors take to pick out a fiancee girlfriend... whatever you want to call their final pick.

Re: Bachelor 13 **SPOILERS**

I think we are giving the franchise too much credit to believe that they are realy looking for a mate for Jason - they are still just casting for a show and let the chips fall where they may. They are just trying out a new thesis to see if it will draw viewers.
Even with all the hype about Jason and Jeremy (I wonder if they are not doing too much campaigning - but it worked for Deanna ) I feel strongly that they are still looking in other directions - at least for the next guy. I don't think either of the J's have it locked in yet. Thank goodness!

Jason, Jeremy... they're both fine, but I'm ready for a fresh face on the show. I hope they don't recycle any of the guys.

Please, please, please, let's have a Bachelor that we can trust to be real and in it for the right reasons. Already we are bonded to these two wonderful men and it would be a pleasure to see either/both as the next Bachelor. A new one is an unknown quantity and quality. How about a show we can totally become involved in right from the start. At this present time I think most of us need to see a real romance and not contrived.

I agree, I don't believe either Jeremy or Jason have a lock on being the next bachelor.

Though, I don't see how fans could possibly campaign "too much".

If I liked Jason or Jeremy, I wouldn't want them to be recycled. I'm sure the show could make hate the Dalai Lama by the second episode, let alone a couple of so-so bachelors.
I agree MsFroggy. I think Jason is far too kind for this show. I hope he finds someone terrific in his home town.

I too am hoping for a fresh face. ABC always prefers to recycle a woman for Bachelorette. That certainly benefited DeAnna. But the last time they recycled a bachelor, it was Blob.

RH, I applaud your sincerity but fear that you'll be very disappointed if those are your expectations -- no matter who the Bachelor is. Truly, you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than seeing another Trista and Ryan-type story.

If we're really laying our cards out on the table here, I feel that either Jason or Jeremy would make a boring Bachelor. I don't want to watch Jason get sucked into and then spit out by the Bachelor machine, and Jeremy to me is like a mannequin with better abs. But at this point I've resigned myself to seeing Jason get Fleissed and diced, so I'll be pleasantly surprised if they manage to find someone new who's halfway decent.

I think TPTB have a lot of creativity and can make an interesting show with almost anyone. And I don't think we can really judge Jeremy and Jason based on what we were shown on The Bachelorette. I thought Jeremy was pretty dry and melancholy. But after hearing his interview with RS, I think he's pretty darned funny! There is more to him than what we got to see. I liked Jason better on the show, but maybe there's even more to him too. At the very least, he would probably provide a very romantic show.

I have mixed feelings about recycling these two guys - but only because I don't want them to end up being hated. I agree with RomanticHaze - at least I feel confident these two guys really ARE looking for love. I'm tired of seeing "fresh faces" who appear to be guilty of doing the show for publicity.

If J & J can't make it on their own after all the publicity they have received, they need help. Fleiss needs help if he can't find a new face that us there for the right reasons.
