Shayne is 5'2"

Wow, so that's a 15 inch height difference. I'm five feet and 1/2 an inch tall and have dated guys as tall as 6'4'' but after college decided to not date anyone over 6'1''. I'm actually attracted to taller guys--that are 6'2'' to 6'4''--but it just feels too strange and awkward. And so many tall guys are attracted to little, short petite girls. Does anyone have any opinions on the psychology of that and whether it is at play in Matt and Shayne's relationship? Like she's the silly, little monkey and he's the big protective knight in shining armor?

The people I know, offline, who have watched the show loved Shayne (along with Amanda). Some of them are the reason why I tuned in at the last minute and caught up. Online is a different story but that's okay. As long as Shayne is happy and comfortable with herself and the relationship it shouldn't matter what others say.

Yikes! that was the most cheesy and contrived proposal I have ever seen. Not one moment of that show felt real and I'm sure it's because it was completely scripted and Shayne was given the starring role. These two may even take it farther and actually get married for the extreme publicity (don't kid yourselves, it's the only reason she was there) and also because Matt wants to move to the US. They will then split up after the requisite time and go their own way.
It's kind of sweet that some people can still believe in this schlock but I personally find Shayne and her baby talk quite nauseating and I would hate for the producers to think any of us fell for this obviously set up 'romance'. I feel kind of sorry for the other girls that came on the show, they had no way of knowing that they never stood a chance. The whole show was uncomfortable to watch but of course I did watch it .

My problem is not about Shayne's freedom to pose or garner any kind of publicity she can. It's what Joe Francis and his ilk represent that bothers me and it's sad to see this lovely young woman support that.

[mod edit] I know that in reality you are going to meet people who see it differently then you, and I also know that these "actors" are fair game. But, if there is such a place, I want to be with people who think like I do for a while.
On the positive side I just took it as entertainment and I was enchanted, be it real or not. I wish someone thought me beautiful enough to put me on any magazine other than "Mad".

I preferred Chelsea but I knew he was picking Shayne. With the way the show was edited to make Shayne look like she could do no wrong, I knew that was the girl that was gonna win but even though I preferred Chelsea, I think he picked the right girl FOR HIM. Chelsea was alot more insecure which I found endearing because who wouldnt be in a situation like that? I just think though that Shayne's laid-backness and confidence in what they had is what won Matt over. I dont see how the proposal seemed fake. I actually thought it was very genuine and quite beautiful. I dont know what all the reasons are for him doing the show or for her going on there but regardless of what either of their intentions were, I do think they ended up finding love. Now whether it lasts or not, that remains to be seen but I wish them the best because I like to see people happy and in love.

I still love Shayne. As I posted on the general thoughts thread, I would rather she had not posed for the girls gone wild guy, but she probably saw it as just a job. I agree the guy is slime, but I am not an advocate for any of these "guy" magazines or videos.

However, the pics do not change my belief that Matt and Shayne are in love. I adored the proposal and believe they are very sincere about their love. As I have stated before, this couple could be married for 50 years, have 7 children, and still some people will insist they are fake. As for me, I believe they are in love, and hopefully that love will weather the storms. If it doesn't, I still believe the romance, love and proposal were real. I respect the fact that Shayne and Matt said on Ellen they want to stay away from tv (she made an exception she said for The Ellen Show) for a while. I wish they wouldn't for selfish reasons, but respect that decision.
