jlccaz, from the beginning of the season while I may not have agreed with your skepticism, I did read your posts and entertained the cynical ideas that you put forward. I think if we all had the same view here it would be boring, so I liked what you brought to the table. I went back upon your urging and re-read posts from mid-January through current (not all, but most). What I found was a variety of different "insiders" making various claims. I saw no claims of special treatment for Shayne, only claims that she was on the show and speculation that her placement there was guaranteed for a F4 so Fleiss could hype the Lorenzo Lamas hometown date. Which by the way, was not the focus of the episode, Amanda's prank was. I don't know who the "insiders" are or were, and I don't really care. I do know that any inside information is to be taken with a cynical eye as there is always a motivation for posting. I include the "F1 camp" you allude to as well. However posts from the "F1 camp" did nothing but stick up for the F1, they did not discredit the other women. To me their motivation was pretty clear, to stick up for Shayne, and not have her raked over the coals. As I read more it became apparent that there were more "camps" on here than I had any idea. I have no clue what the motivation was, and I don't think a lot of us will ever know. But they spread information in their own way, to open up the possiblity that this is a "fix". That is much more suspicious than a "camp" who you know where they stand and why. I don't think that Chelsea and her mother started the Shayne rumor, but I am suspicious that they fed the flames and at minimum bought into it. Chelsea described her mother as a "huge fan" of the Bachelor, it's not too much of a stretch to think that she has posted with us, perhaps for a longer time than just this season. If that is the case she was well aware of the rumors by the time the HTD's came along, and it is quite possible that she shared what was being said on the boards with her daughter when no cameras were around. And when Chelsea was not F1, she may have reacted the way that she did partially from information she got during her HTD. Obviously this is pure speculation, I'm not trying to slander anyone here. Merritt Andrews I'm glad you have a thick skin and hopefully you will keep posting. Even though this isn't a fan forum it's okay to be a fan and support your favorites, a lot of people do. Obviously both "positive" and "negative" posts are allowed as well and it makes for a very lively site It's funny that you are a newbie considering your join date is in 2003!scoobie I do think that all of the contestants including Matt have been scrutinized during the course of the season. One of the initial things was about his "banking career", many thought that it was Fleiss hype and it probably was. Personally I think he's a 27 year old male who doesn't quite know what he's going to do with his professional life. When i was 27 I didn't either, and actually I had time off from a promising career to sort of "re-center" myself and decide what I really wanted out of a job and out of life. It happens a lot to those of us who gratuate from college or university start working around the clock and just do it. Personally once I hit "pause" and took a look at my lifestyle I wanted something a little bit different from my career. That's what I see a bit in Matt right now. Will he and Shayne make it? I have no idea but I wish them all the best in their future happiness, whether together or apart.

The hypothesis that at 27 he is going through a phase of his life where he is searching for his true calling is an interesting one. If this assessment is correct, then he would have directly contradited himself on his reasons for coming on to the show (as told to CH) - that he was at a point of his life where he is ready to settle down and start a family with absolute clarity. This contadiction would further beg the question of who he really is.

| Re: Bachelor 12 Media Thread Just catching up on all of the posts from this weekend and have a couple of comments. First, regarding the "peace" sign with the two fingers palm away or palm forward. Several years ago when George H.W. Bush (not the current president) was president, he went to Australia. There were video clips of him riding in a limo giving what he thought was the peace sign to the crowd, but his palm was facing toward him instead of away from him. He didn't know he was doing anything wrong but some of the Aussie's were offended and gave him the finger in response. That was the first time I had heard of the difference in meaning depending on which way your palm is facing. Secondly, about Matt not being athletic. While he doesn't have the buff body that Andy and Brad have, I would still consider him athletic since he plays rugby, tennis and skis. Those are "active" sports (as compared to baseball where there is a lot of standing around). Just my two cents. |

I am a newbie on this board and have only posted a few post. However, after reading your post, I felt a need to respond. I am not a seasoned Bachelor fan, in fact, this is my first year watching. You indicated you read post from January to present. If you had gone back perhaps a little further, you would have read a post from rileymeboy. She was the first one to post...that Shayne was Fleiss's insurance policy. In doing this, she did not present this as inside information, nor did she try to presuade anyone to agree with her. She simply repeated what she had been told from someone, in the know, at a dinner party. She was also told that this year's bachelor would be filmed around Shayne. This also proved to be true. I was at the same party. My understanding, of this board is that each person can speak their minds, as long as it is about the contestants..many of us liked different bachelorette's. We gave our opinion as such. Yes, some believed it was fixed. I am one of them...but because of this, I do not like being labeled as being in a camp or not letting everyone know what I felt. I would also like to add about so called poster's in the know..if we are consistent in questioning and putting them down, they will eventually cease to post information. One can only weed through, gather information, as it is presented and determine for ourselves what to believe. To me, that is what makes it fun. I do not agree with every post that is posted, but I do respect each person's right to post them. In closing, I would like to say, that toward the end, I was very glad that Matt did not choose my favorite. In my opinion, the girls that went home were the winners. I feel certain, after watching the show, many felt the same way. ![]()

Anyway, I do not think I can make that leap of faith in believeing he was that open with the women on this subject. I think we have batted this topic around long enough.
