It looks like Shayne has taken Matt shopping and pointed him in a more fashionable direction. Although I am not a big fan of the open cuffs on his shirt. I keep thinking "roll your sleeves up!" I suppose that is the mommy in me. ![]()

| Re: Bachelor 12 Media Thread New interview with Chelsea in Durango Herald Durango Herald Online Durangoan learns ‘reality’ of 2nd place Wanstrath lost to actor’s daughter on 'The Bachelor: London Calling' May 18, 2008 By Ted Holteen | Herald Staff Writer While America's reality-show addicted audiences spent the week debating London financier Matt Grant's choice of a bride, Durango native Chelsea Wanstrath was just happy her ordeal was over. Courtesy of Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. Chelsea Wanstrath walks hand-in-hand on the beach in Barbados with "The Bachelor" Matt Grant. Wanstrath, a 2001 Durango High School graduate, was the last contestant eliminated from the ABC-TV reality series Monday."I think he made the right decision with Shayne (Lamas)," said Wanstrath, a 2001 Durango High School graduate. She lost to the daughter of actor Lorenzo Lamas on the final episode of ABC-TV's "The Bachelor: London Calling" on May 12. "I think they're a better match," she said. Wanstrath described the last five months of her life as "a crazy experience." Since she was chosen for the show in January, Wanstrath, her family and friends lived under a network- imposed gag order not to disclose the results of the program, which wrapped up taping in early March. The show pits 25 women against one another to win a marriage proposal from the bachelor. Every episode, Grant awarded roses to some but dismissed one or more women until only Wanstrath and Lamas remained. During the six-weeks of filming, Wanstrath lost her job as a top pharmaceutical representative in Santa Barbara, Calif., and traveled from Malibu, Calif., to Las Vegas, Sun Valley Idaho, Barbados, London and back to Barbados. "I came back dumped, my company car was gone, my computer was gone - they repo'd everything. But I can laugh at things now that before might've bothered me a lot more," she said. Despite her second-place finish, Wanstrath said she is most ashamed that she cried after Grant broke the bad news to her and sent her home. She had been privately amused by the reaction of many of the women who had been rejected, especially those who had only been around for a week or two before they were booted. "I said to myself, 'What the hell were you guys crying about?' I mean I kind of get it, but I'm just not that girl. Some of the girls also kept their roses (given to the women who advance to the next episode), and I don't get that, either. What do I want with a dried-out old rose?" she said. The rejection was also softened by the fact that Wanstrath had already decided that Grant wasn't the man for her. "When I first saw him I said, 'Yeah, he's tall and attractive, but if I had 25 men in front of me to pick from, I can't say I'd pick him,'" she said. "But my first to last impression of him did change over the show, and he's a really nice guy. I just think I'm a bit too tomboyish for him. After watching the show, he's definitely not my type and not the man I thought he was. He's not athletically inclined, and I wouldn't want somebody to slow me down. When Shayne said she likes to shop, he thought that was cute. I didn't." Lamas' appearance on the show had Wanstrath and her fellow contestants shaking their heads. Many of the women on the show thought Lamas, who is a professional actress, held an unfair advantage because of her experience in front of a camera, Wanstrath said. For Wanstrath's mother, Addi, Lamas' presence also was a disappointment. "When she first did this and we heard there was going to be an actress on the show, we were suspicious of the whole thing - all these girls competing against a professional," Addi Wanstrath said. "Our suspicions turned out to be true. But I want to tell you how proud we are of our daughter - she's not a loser, she's a winner, and she never compromised herself." Wanstrath said that despite several offers, she has no plans to pursue an acting career. "I'm not an actress, I don't want to pretend to be one, and you're not going to see me on the next 'Rock of Love' either," she said, answering an inquiry about her reality-TV future. But until she decides whether she will resume her pre-TV career - she's still a bit bitter over her abrupt dismissal - Wanstrath will remain in front of the camera. She will host Fox Sports Net's telecasts of the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball tour beginning in early June. |

| Re: Bachelor 12 Media Thread Thanks for the Chelsea interview. I think this statement is very telling and I think many viewers and girls on the show thought the same thing. "But my first to last impression of him did change over the show, and he's a really nice guy. I just think I'm a bit too tomboyish for him. After watching the show, he's definitely not my type and not the man I thought he was."

| Re: Bachelor 12 Media Thread Long article about Barbados free advertising benefit from Bachelor airing...a few interesting details about timing and filming of dates. The Nation Newspaper | Bachelor boost for Bimshire It was simply priceless. Breathtaking views, a picturesque landscape and inviting blue beaches which kissed white, sandy beaches. It was a picture painted of paradise. But to Barbadians, they were familiar sights. It was indeed Barbados in all its splendour – beamed all across the world – when the climax of the popular ABC reality show The Bachelor was aired. The Bachelor is about one man looking for love. He looks for the perfect choice among 25 women to whom he is initially introduced. In the end, it comes down to a choice of two, one of whom he proposes to. Last Monday night 19 million people (12 million women) glued to the screen to see who Matt Grant [the bachelor] would propose to in the final rose ceremony which took place at the Barbados Hilton, were captivated by sights and scenes to promote this destination. Barbados landed the deal for the filming of the show in January, a month after a scouting visit by its producers. At that time, local officials had to showcase all this country had to offer by way of activities, romantic settings, as well as services. Averil Byer, director of marketing services at the Barbados Tourism Authority, told the SUNDAY SUN the choice for filming the show was between Barbados and Hawaii. It was Barbados' attitude that put the country on top. "The producers chose Barbados because they said everything works here and we had a 'can do' attitude. In addition, they said the infrastructure and product we had made it much easier", she said. Byer, who managed this project, said the real work started when they had to prepare for Grant's three dates in Barbados. She said the filming, which started in February, took about two and a half weeks. Scenes included romantic dinner dates, a picnic scene at Harry Smith Beach in St Philip, an adventure trek, a swim with turtles, parasailing, as well as a helicopter ride. Byer also noted the spin-off benefits to the show. "Everything is word of mouth because we did so well in facilitating that shoot it will get out that Barbados can be a filming destination," she said. The marketing director did not only note the exposure of Barbados to the world, but the advertising value derived from it. She said the estimated advertising value was $18.2 million dollars for both shows. Byer said that in the penultimate show Barbados was featured for 45 minutes, with each minute equivalent to an advertising spot worth $303 300. In the final episode Barbados had 15 minutes' airtime. Byer also said the contribution of the cast and crew to the local economy could not go unnoticed. Marilyn Soper, general manager at the Hilton Hotel where two dinner dates were staged for The Bachelor, said they too were delighted to be featured in the show. She said one of her biggest challenge was the confidentiality, noting that employees at the hotel were not even aware of what was going on. Soper said one dinner was staged at the Old Forte, and the other on the beach. "This was a high for the hotel but the confidentiality that was needed was a challenge, especially since we had a full house," she said. The hotel head also said producers on their scout mission were impressed with the assistance they received at all levels. "Everyone at every level went beyond the call of duty to make sure everything worked perfectly," she said. Bajan Helicopters also had an important role to play in The Bachelor. They were responsible for flying Grant and one of his two dates, Chelsea, around the island. Sales and marketing manager Trilicia Crawford said after a routine safety briefing the couple took to the skies for a spectacular view of Barbados' coastline. The couple was airlifted to Harry Smith Beach in St Philip where they were shown frolicking and picnicking. Crawford said: "Although we have done this before, we were very honoured and very proud to be involved. And all the viewing public got to see what Barbados had to offer". The BTA director said there were also other spin-off benefits to the Barbados showing. She said there was an online Rose Ceremony Game on ABC.com which has a value tagged at $250 000, 11 million unique page views, and 320 000 page views of the Hilton Barbados property. She also said: "When you touch people emotionally, you get them. People fell in love with Barbados." |

She's kind of all over the place I feel like, she says he's a nice guy in one sentence, but overall seems pretty bitter. It's also a bit strange that thing she is most ashamed of in the whole thing is that she cried. Isn't that kind of a given going on this show? I don't know, the more I hear from her the more she just seems "off". In one of the interviews I think it said he's 6'5" and she is a petite 5'2".

Chelsea isn't "off" or "all over the place." Rather, she -- like all of them -- is GAGGED by the world's scariest psuedo-confidentiality agreement. She is biting her tongue so hard sometimes a smidge of what she really wants to say bleeds out. JMO. And good for her for snagging the Sports telecasting gig. I loved that the editors cared enough and respected her enough to air a flavor of what she really thought in the exit video available at abc.com. They seat belt those girls into the limo with psychologists and others for hours if necessary to extract the tears. Feeling badly about tears shed in that setting are like John McCain feeling guilty that the North Vietnamese eventually extracted a confession out of him. It means nothing, literally nothing, to have given in under the pressure and circumstances of that Limo Ride from Hell. Blog, Chelsea, Blog. ![]()
