Byron and Mary - The New Thread

Despite the latest troubles, I still count Mary and Byron as a Bachelor success story. They have lived together as a family for three years. Byron moved to Tampa so Mary could be near her family and her career. They bought a house there. Mary took up fishing with Byron and later embraced his sport herself. They or he bought the resort in TX on a wonderful fishing lake and Mary was going to get her TX real estate license.

They didn't get married; they didn't have children right away; they were together as a couple for three years. No matter what they decide to do now, that is a long realationship to come out of The Bachelor.

Sarah and Charlie were another success to come from The Bachelor. Whether they ever get back to gether (as most of us hope) or not, that too is a long Bachelor relationship.

Trista and Ryan - I don't think anyone will ever match them again.

ITA with the first three points made here, and the last one is probably true also. That success is a hard one to match. It would be nice to see it happen again though.

Jelle...ICAM. I even see Meredith and Ian and Jen and Andrew as a success. They both lasted close to a year (Jen/Andrew longer?). It's far better than the ring on the string or the one way plane ticket scenario...which, to me, is a failure.

Every relationship has *something* quirky or negative about it. It is unfortunate that this situation had to be so public when thousands of other couples, in the same situation, aren't even heard about.

Every once in awhile, when I need a sappy fix, I go onto Utube just to rewatch Ryan and Trista's proposal.

Me too Lynn7 me too. I have very low expectations for The Bachelor couples I don't even consider the rest failures, just interesting tv So when a couple actually succeeds in making a real life commitment that's amazing

Good for Byron and Mary....They seem to have taken a bad situation and chose to move forward together. That is good news.

Prior to the event he and Delgado made national headlines after they appeared on a special edition of TV's The Bachelor (where they originally met). After the show, she allegedly punched Velvick in the mouth, and was arrested. About that incident, Velvick said: "It's just something that happened, but at the same time, here we are together. Obviously, she wouldn't have come to the tournament if things weren't on the mend."

Whatever they have that's keeping them together seems to be working. It will be interesting to see if they really do get married next year.
