ATFR - Operation Redemption?!?! & 5/22 Show Discussion **Spoilers**

Chris Harrison says in his recent interview that as they wanted Andy to propose for the show AND for the ratings. Andy proposed, the interest in this series, and particularly in Andy and Tessa, has remained high and so the network execs make a decision to "ride the wave". It probably helped that AI is not looking overly appealing right now, but I believe that, given that Andy and his love are together and "real", TPTB felt that this could be more great publicity about how the show can work going into casting the new show. Let's face it, prior to Andy I don't think that there were even plans to do a new bachelor. Fans and their money talk!

Put me in the camp that believes that this has been scheduled since it appears that the AI finale has less interest than their previous finales.

Bingo. Many people are upset over Melinda being elimnated. This season of AI is sub par in the ratings compared to previous seasons. ABC has a WINNER in the true love story of Tessa and Andy, I'll be watching!

While I am sure the "real" Bevin doesn't need redeeming, there is no way they can redeem the "edited" Bevin ABC chose to show us in an hour after everything is over. When they edited this show for TV, it was all over and they knew who the final one was. ABC gave us the Bevin they wanted us to see. The majority of viewers saw whiney, clingy, manipulative Bevin. If Bevin is the final one, I can only assume ABC wanted the majority of the TV viewing audience to feel negatively towards her.

I think Bevin is Bevin...we saw who she is...I don't attribute everything to editing. Bevin gave them loads of material and she was depicted as who she is...Now we may be judgemental about who she is, or how she approaches things, but that is Bevin.

You can either lover her free spirit or be turned off to it...

Anyone else think it is a little suspect that ATFR was not in the schedule this season until now?

Don't get me wrong, I am THRILLED that we will get to see Andy and Tessa again. It just seems weird that this was not on the ABC schedule when they knew that they had a love story.

I think that Andy had something major to do with the ATFR now being scheduled. Here's why...

• Andy has mentioned the "editing" and not being too thrilled with it.
• He has mentioned that Tessa & Bevin were close friends and we never got to see that.
• I "believe" that someone posted that both Andy and Tessa were upset at the edit Bevin was getting - did I imagine this???
• Andy and Tessa want us to see how much of their love story was edited out (Personally I saw it...but others haven't)
• I really think this is being done to redeem Bevin

Anyway for whatever reason they decided to do this, I cannot wait

To me...this makes a lot of sense...ABC wanted to surprise people and for Tessa and Andy....asking for this OPERATION REDEMPTION....is so them...remember Andy telling in his interview about the crews from the helicopter after the Aircraft carrier date...they wanted to put a spotlight on the loser..that is Peyton...and both Andy and Tessa screamed "NOOOO"..they both do not like to hurt anyone....andy is a doctor and a healer....he has been saying all over so many times he takes away pain and suffering and DOESN'T want to instill /cause pain to any one....

Doesn't Andy also mention in the teleconference that Bevin and Tessa were best friends, which became really important in the end - but that wasn't shown to the viewers? Obviously, there is so much that we weren't able to see - between Andy/Tessa, Andy/Bevin, and Tessa/Bevin. I still think this points in the direction of Andy proposing to Tessa, and due to Tessa and Bevin's friendship (and also Andy's respect of Bevin), they really wanted to be the ones to come out and say, "Hey, this isn't right. Bevin was treated unfairly." I also believe they'd want viewers to support them for their love story, instead of being turned away by the Bevin edit.

I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt because I don't see being a whiney complainer as a "free spirit". Nor is a free spirit someone who spreads her legs around a guy she's only seen a couple of times. There's another name for that.

As to whether the ATRC is taped or live, I am going with taped and that is why Bevin was spotted in NYC airport last week. With Melinda gone in AI, the "older" viewers (me included) really don't care to see Jordin or Bleak (oops Blake) win or loose. I really don't care.
ABC is saying "show me the money!" Maybe after the F1, Bevin hooks up with one of the crew and they reveal that "true love" story too. That way everyone is happy. Bevin just may reveal that she thought it was Andy, but after being f2 realized he wasn't and that her new man is just what she always wanted. (cut to picture and he is more handsome than Andy)

I really don't understand the logic here - why on earth would they care about redeeming Bevin's edit if Andy proposed to Tessa?

If the purpose of the AFtRC is redemption, it makes way more sense its because he picked Bevin and they see how many viewers are having a negative response to her. Plus if Bevin is F1, as seen by the posts here, many feel that he strung Tessa along and he would be perceived as a jerk.

I know I'm not with the majority here, but all this makes way more sense if Bevin is F1. If Tessa was F1, I believe Andy would be in a very uncomfortable position fo explaining all that making out with Bevin - he'd have a hell of time defending himself. All I see with Tessa ia a lot pecks and words. IMO actions speak louder than words.

I wanted to add that if I were Bevin and was F2, I would refuse to be on the show!

I totally agree with you too! I wrote that last sentence 10 times remembering "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all" ... so I really struggled with my words...Free spirit really didn't fit...
