They aren't callous, they can't handle women crying or being dramatic. Their preference is for a short discussion and quick resolve ... or better yet, they are hoping that the woman goes through the emotional battle outside their presence and then tell them after that they resolved the issue.
Yes, I learned this exact same thing. Men are logical. Women are emotional. Most men can't handle a lot of over emotional crying drama. They tend to run away from that type of scene.

Sorry, Ali took her crown as drama queen last night. I've only been watching the Bach series regularly since Deanna's season, & I've never seen the kind of mess I saw last night.

OK, for all the crying, wailing, beseeching, carrying on, did you notice her face when she finally spoke the words "I have to leave"? Not a tear, no red eyes, no sniffles. Practically dead pan. Jake too.

I know this conversation was supposed to have lasted 2-3 hours. I don't know about anybody else, but if I've been crying for 2-3 hours, I'm a mess. She looked pretty fresh when she made her final declaration. I wonder if that was her first sentence, and not her last, as we were shown. Then they had to fill in with all the drama.

Well, I see both Ali and Vienna as drama queens and the major difference between the two having to do with geography. Plus, Ali has been edited as having a meaner spirit than does Vienna --- and certainly far more complex.

I'm sure that's what prompts her call (producer driven also) and he'll tell her in a polite manner, sorry but I've moved on. Also, per the show he CAN'T give her any reassurance... it's the girls job to let him know their feelings but he can't reveal his until F1...

the other thing.. I was expecting this HUGE EMOTIONALLY DEVASTING scene and all I got out of it was.. meh...no biggie for him. I don't expect her to get an acting gig out of this either...she doesn't look pretty when she cries and soap actresses cry on que all while vogueing for Style Magazine. Ali looked like a Hot Crockpot Mess of Crazy while being escorted to the limo.
If Ali was watching last night's episode then she DID get to see all of that - how quickly he seemed to recover and with very little emotion about her leaving. That is what I meant by her being 100% sure that she made the right decision. Only Jake and Ali really know what went on during that conversation last night, but it appears that Ali dodged a bullet. She could be sitting here today with no JOB and no Jake.

From a personal point of view, the nail in the coffin for me would have been me hearing Jake paint ME (as he did with Ali and every girl there) as just being a catty and jealous woman. Jake certainly "didn't have Ali's back" when he made that statement. For reasons only Jake can understand he dismissed everything the other girls told him about Vienna and totally missed it when Vienna's stepmom confirmed that Vienna has always had a problem getting along with other women. Apparently this is the truth since this came straight from her stepmom.

Anyway, it appears that Jake made his mind up about Vienna without listening to the other women, and he sees in her what he wants to see. I for one hope that Ali does not get manipulated by TPTB into any further participation in this farce other than that phone call we saw. We all know that we will probably only HEAR Jake's side of the conversation and not actually hear Ali talking (unless it is spliced and diced), so that call might just amount to nothing other than trying to keep the Ali fans from "bailing out" by making it seem like Ali might return.

I got a chuckle out of Jake saying on his blog that they were both daring each other to jump in the water - ya, that's what you do to somebody your attracted to, try to get them to swim with alligators

I haven't read Jake's blog. He mentioned in the last blog about how this past epi would go. Anything indicating for next week?

Why do you think they left in the part where V's stepmom confirmed that V has always had a problem with other women? I can see them leaving in the part where J defends V because she is her F1, but why leave in the statement from the stepmom, it does V no favors?
